Is pax, tyrus busting our balls?

Does anyone else get the feeling that pax is truly truly gonna fuck this one up. I mean seriously he looks again as if hes gonna stand pat with our roster. Now my question is whether thats a good thing or a bad thing? I think in order to asses that we have to asses what overall acheivement we are expecting out of these Bulls next year.  If they are truly rebuilding, then holding onto all our assets while they gain market value might be the best option.  However, if these Bulls plan on making the playoffs they might want to reconsider standing pat. They have the pieces to nab a star, and it would only make sense to grab a big man. By grabbing a big man it will still be eating up Tyrus's minutes which seems to be a no-no to most of you. In my opinion i think pax needs to reasess the front court. We will never have a championship caliber team with Tyrus and Joakim manning the front. Its just not realistic. None of those players will ever pose an offensive threat unless its the alley-oop. What pax needs to do is trade gooden and hinrich and even a 1stRd pick for some sort of big man. Its that simple. with a lineup of Rose, gordon, deng, _____, and noah the team could contend right away. But that ____ needs to be filled with a star-studded post scorer. Someone that will make the other teams big man commit. With tyrus and joakim together other teams bigs can play basically carefree defense. Its something that noone has brought up. But im a tyrus lover too, but do you really think that tyrus and joakim can be a formidable frontcourt?

It's spelled "assess"

I don’t like being a stickler, but there’s a whole lot of ass in that paragraph.

I think Paxson should stand pat, meaning he should keep everybody on our roster besides Nocioni. We are in a big enough market to sign Wade or Bosh in 2010 without giving up anything, and that should be enough to make us a legit contender for a long time. Besides, I think Tyrus and Joakim could be a pretty decent duo on their own.

True true

haha yea my bad at least you got what i meant tho… and i dont think they have a chance to be a decent duo without any offensive moves. the kids just cant score the basketball

i Agree

I was wondering why kirk and gooden wasnt traded for jermaine oneal, in 07 kirk was all-defense and gooden ok with offensive boards, tj ford is good but he has no resume and rasho n. is washed up. We tweakin not getting jermaine oneal.

Kirk and Gooden weren't traded for Jermain O'Neal because...

why the hell would the Bulls want a 30 year old center with a bad attitude and a history of injuries?

by smash! on Jul 3, 2008 8:38 PM CDT up reply actions

and because

when at his strongest and healthiest, Jermaine O’Neal was first and foremost a dominant force on defense (although adept at offense, but not that much better than Gooden there).

The Game chose him !

How can anyone answer whether or not they'll make a formidable backcourt or not...

without giving them the opportunity to play?

As for your thoughts on “nabbing a big man”, if it’s as easy as you make it sound, let’s have some suggestions as to what “star studded post man” they could “easily nab”?

by smash! on Jul 3, 2008 8:41 PM CDT reply actions

yeah who knows

its all gunna come down to watching how they perform. but my guess is noah isnt ever going to develop into a real threat in the post. hes more of js an energy guy. kinda like turiaf/najera for the lakers/nuggets. tyrus on the other hand still has a lot of room to develop i think. but i still do agree we need another post scorer, just someone the other guys can turn to for points when the shots just arent dropping

no good young bigs

I’ve been thinking about what “star studded post” the bulls could get and there’s none that fit our need. its not that we dont have the assets its just that there are no good young post players with scoring abilities that any team would be willing to give up. My wish would be for the bulls to have Al horford and reunite the florida bigs but Atlanta is not gonna give him up

What about...

this Michael Beasley kid? I hear he’s pretty good.

And why

can’t TT play the 3???

by hlac on Jul 4, 2008 3:14 AM CDT up reply actions

deng cant dribble either

I might be in the minority on this one but the on e player i wouldn’t mind the bulls trading is Deng. He is vastly overrated IMO. He can’t shoot the 3, create his own shot, create an offense mismatch or draw a double team. Why is he considered so untouchable. Sign and trade Deng, Gooden, and hinrich future # 1 for REAL SUPERSTAR.

by Blacknight23 on Jul 4, 2008 10:57 AM CDT up reply actions

Deng is no Pip, but he can dribble and drive better than TT...

and obviously hit the open jump shot, though he needs to extend his range. He usually can create for himself, too. Maybe TT will develop these things eventually but right now he just doesn’t have those skills. Personally, I’d love to see them try to develop Thabo’s post game so he can contribute some minutes at the 3.

As for Deng being untouchable… Pax has offered him in several big trades, but those never went through so they’re not public knowledge. He’s not untouchable, but at this time in particular he’s hard to trade (contract). He does hold the most value on the team, short of Rose. Alot of that is due to the fact that he’s so young (22) and most believe he’s got a very high ceiling he’s yet to reach.

see:

Josh Smith, Andrei Kirilenko. And if Tyrus turns out to actually be 6’10”, he might end up being our starting center.

trade hinrich

hollinger states in his article today that a trade of hinrich for al harrington makes sense for both parties. i agree with this statement. if we got harrington we could have a player that could score inside and out while running an offense that moves freely like phoenix or golden state, which is where we look the best anyway. we already have proven athletes that run the floor well(ala tt and noah) with rose running the point we could be a dynamic team right away.
it would be nice to some how unload noc, but im not gonna hold my breath

Harrington=Nocioni

Why would you want two players who duplicate each other on the bench? Harrington isn’t even that good, I’d want Nene or Camby for Kirk.

TT and Noah - yes and no

Yes, they can be a formidable front court
No, not this season yet

by JustAnotherFan on Jul 4, 2008 2:58 PM CDT reply actions

tyrus and noah will be good...

there is no one out there worth trading for now. i don’t think we can get brand any more and no other good big low post scorer is on the trading block any more.
