Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

It's not like you all expected him back anyway, but there's proof. It looks like he'll sign with New York or my favorite team, the Orlando Magic.

What can you all tell me about Duhon? I know he has a reputation as a horrible shooter, above-average defender, and partier extraordinaire. And I get the sense that he never exactly endeared himself to Bulls fans. But what do you guys think?

I appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Duhon isn't a bad backup PG

The problem is that the Bulls would play him and Hinrich together all too often. He’s not a great shooter, and I find his ability to run an offense is best served during blowouts and the like.

If the Magic are using him as a backup to Jameer Nelson, I guess they could have done worse. Duhon does throw a pretty good alley-oop, so with Howard on the team that could be a nice thing to see. But yeah, Duhon is a scrub.

Good alley-oop thrower

That should come in handy down here, yeah, if Dwight doesn’t have 3 defenders draped on him.

He's better served playing for stronger offensive team

He’s not a good shooter, but he can penetrate, pass, and defend. He’ll be able to feed Howard in the post, but he’s not much of a threat to shoot the 3 which will allow his man to cheat down to double Howard.

He’ll make free throws.

Yeah

he definitely is pass first, which can benefit some teams, but as he is no offensive threat the defense doesn’t have to extend itself much. I still see him as a decent backup for a team that is not us.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

An all-star post man

will really help cover Duhon’s weaknesses. With Lewis and Turkoglu, Duhon will have multiple scorers and slashers where he’ll be able to slip under the radar to collect 8-10ppg.

I agree with this

he’s not that terrible. But you’re right that he won’t be a good enough to stretch a defense away from Howard. Though maybe he could be if he learned to shoot in rhythm right when he gets the ball. He gets in trouble when he decides to make a play instead of just shooting right away. Then again, if he hasn’t learned by now…

3 years, 10 million from Orlando

is the reported offer. I think Duhon takes this unless the Knicks throw more money at him.

no way the Knicks will go 3 years

that’s LeBron time.

The Knicks can offer him the starting job; the Magic can’t. And, apparently, he’s really thinking hard about the Knicks’ offer. We’ll see how much he values winning once he makes his decision. His agent told the Orlando media that Duhon wants to play for a contender…

He's no Penny Hardaway...

or Scott Skiles for that matter. He’ll have 2 fantastic games a year, because even shooters with bad form catch fire every now and then. I think he shoots too much. Not a terrible driver, but physically weak. He’ll def spend more time at Church St. than in the weight room…

Have you guys wrapped up Howard long-term yet?

by smash! on Jul 3, 2008 9:37 AM CDT reply actions

I hope he doesn't spend too much time at Church Street...

... because it’s basically closed.

Howard got the maximum allowable extension (five years, $85 million) last summer. He signed it the day after the Magic acquired Rashard Lewis in a sign-and-trade deal. Otis Smith spent $193 million on two players in a two-day span. Isiah Thomas must have been jealous.

I always liked him

for his community service. I don’t know if anyone else in the NBA has given (and continues to give) more in personal and monetary aid to the Katrina relief efforts.

as much as I enjoy watching the love

being given to Du, because he just was SOOOO wrong for this bulls team…

he would work better with an inside scoring threat. he is a pure point. and he can penetrate WAAAAY better then Kirk (but that’s not saying much)

our bigs LOVED him because he is a better point then Kirk so he should work out better in Orlando.

but as an avid knicks hater, I would so much more appreciate him going there and seeing him suck it up for them.

he would be better in orlando with bad ass dwight.
