Hinrich & TT for Odom speculation

This is obviously just Hoopsworld making up trades to pass the time. I can't see why/how the Bulls would want to give up Hinrich and TT to get Lamar Odom and help the Lakers get Artest.

He breaks it down to a 3 team deal:

Bulls get: Odom
Kings get: TT, Farmar, Mihm
Lakers get: Hinrich, Artest

Probably more to make the numbers work.  Blech.  This trade "speculation" sucks.  I would hope IF we package Kirk and TT it would bring back a higher caliber player than Odom.

this is not a rumor

it’s speculation.

If Chicago were willing to give up perhaps Tyrus Thomas to the Kings, would Sacramento be willing to make a deal if they also get Farmar and Mihm?

The Kings...

really get crap in this deal; but if they were willing to except it, the Bulls would have to jump on it. Despite all the new Odom hater, post-Championship; no one can deny that he is an excellent and would be perfect for a running offense.

I’d do it in a second.

odom's contract is basically expiring either this year or next....

good news for all you 2010 cheerleaders….......but why trade our future (TT) for essentially a one year player… its just really acquiring another Drew Gooden, no way we’d make this trade. Plus we’re losing kirk… Reinsdorf will not be a happy camper!

I've got an ammended version

This works under the salary rules (because all 3 teams are over the cap)

For those of you too lazy to click the link:

CHI gets:
Odom (1 year left on deal)
Kenny Thomas (2 years left on deal)

SAC gets:
Nocioni
Gooden
Farmar

LAL gets:
Hinrich
Artest

I kind of like that deal

It’d be nice if Kenny Thomas was 6’10”, but I’m sure he gets that alot.

Any deal that gets the team out of both Hinrich's and Nocioni's contracts is a good one

That makes LA too scary for my liking

But, if the name of the game is Wade/Bosh in 2010, then this is a sweet deal.

I was a multiple time all star throughout my little league career. Won 5 championships- 4 in a row- thats more in a row than MJ… (kenwo4life@aol.com)

I love this, great amendment

The Bulls swap expiring deals in Gooden for Odom, and trade two longer term deals in Hinrich and Noce for Thomas’ undesirable, but shorter deal, leaving 2010 wide open with Hughes and Thomas off the books. Should the Bulls for whatever unforseen reason resign Odom, he could be another draw for Wade. Not a material factor, but just another checkmark under the “Pros” column. Not saying resign him because of this.

Sac gets an expiring deal in Gooden and Noce restores their SF quantity, Farmar gives them that young PG they were looking for even though they overpaid Udrih.

LAL gets tougher with Artest, had to give up Odom, but gets Hinrich who probably is better suited as a PG triangle offense, though he’ll still split time with Fisher. LA gets better in this deal and they have to win within this Kobe window anyway.

Assuming BG is gone

and frontcourt is actually the same. I wonder if this would free up enough cap, and if the timing of that freed up space would somehow allow the Bulls to budget a little higher for BG and/or Deng and still have a fighting chance at an UFA like Wade in 2010. WIth Hughes and Thomas off the books by then with no lingering impact of the Hinrich and Noce deals, Odom probably gone the year before, I’d be interested to see how the numbers flow.

by messwiththebull on Jul 18, 2008 12:44 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't see how it couldn't.

http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/bulls.jsp

Only players signed for 2010/2011 are Hinrich (9.2), Nocioni (6.8), Noah, Thomas, Sefo and Rose for a total of $20 mil. Gordon and Deng could make a total of $10 mil more than those two (hopefully that’s the high end) and they’d still be sitting roughly $30 million under the cap. Of course, they’d have other players signed by then, but as long as they don’t have them signed for more than $10 mil total, they should still be okay to sign someone big. Of course, this means telling Thomas and Sefo the “plan” in their extension year next summer… but there’s no problem in them “earning it” because after they sign their big FA, they could re-sign those two (if desired) for any amount because of the Bird rights.

Well done Chris G.

that’s a heck of a deal. I think everybody wins with this one.

thanks Chris

does seem very tempting to lose Nocioni’s and Hinrich’s contract, and get two expiring contracts….

heirachy of trade bait

HUGHES – The impossible dream, he would be number one choice to ship out for me, but he will time out nicely with a huge expiring just in time for the 2010 F/A Sweepstakes. Nobody wants his contract, so the Bulls are stuck with him for now. Still, he is actually a better all-around player than BG. Hughes actually led the league in steals several years back, a trivia question at this point, but he can play better D than BG, and doesn’t get trapped as easily. Terrible FG%, but maybe Rose will help him to get better shots. He doesn’t suck and if I had to be stuck with a huge contract, better Hughes than the departed Ben Wallace. More for the money with Hughes, than Ben Wallace provides. Age is factor though, diminishing skills a fact.
NOCIONI: WYSIWYG. He ain’t gonna get any better, just older. New flopping rules will bankrupt him too! :-) Seriously, he is pass-first, small SF, fouls a lot, and has an annoying habit of not passing to players he doesn’t like, even when they’re wide open. But, is the Bulls future at SF Noc? I think not. Another example of over-paid! They blew it when they gave him that ridiculous contract. A 6th man, at best. Older. I trade him while still he has any perceived value out there. The whole enthusiasm, rah-rah, hustle thing, well, it doesn’t get the job done. If he maybe could just rebound and pass a little! Oh, and his shooting %s for FGs and 3-PT-FGs went into the tank last year as well. So what do you got? Not much. Outta here.
HINRICH: Obvious, isn’t it? I mean come on. No room for sentimental B.S. here. Just because Reinsdorf likes a nice little white boy on his team, the guy has peaked and is going the other way. Aging now as well, maybe faster than most too. He was consistently TORCHED by every good PG he faced last season. Can’t keep up with the CPs of this league any more. Offensive production diminishing. And that pounding the ball while running around for 18 seconds and then sticking some poor slob with a last second three, that is not playing point guard. All that said, he had a decent Assists-to-Turnover ratio and still has some perceived value left. Conclusion: Trade and dump his over-inflated contract if any team is dumb enough to assume it. Or, they do the Wallace-Hughes boogie, and we trade bad contracts, hopefully getting a younger player with some upside remaining. Rose will need some time, but, if they get a chance to trade Hinny for something reasonable, they ought to do it.
OTHERS OF CONCERN:
THOMAS: How long, how long? Yeah, he didn’t look terrible vs Summer League scrubs. OK, that’s nice. Now he seems to think he is a SF too. Truth is, he is only effective as PF, and not as a SF. Forget using him at Center, even though some stats freaks show he was actually THE MOST effective, PER, with minutes played as a Center. But. Sometimes he just seems, let’s say, “fundamentally challenged” to me. Again, one great skill, jumping, in his case, does not make an NBA starting PF. I remain encouraged and not giving up on him. I still do fear a haunting if they did let him go, ala, Tyson Chandler. But it would be nice to see TT break out for real this year.
NOAH: Hard to believe at the pro level, with pro coaches, constant practice, and his shot is still what it is. He HAS NOT changed the release. Until he does, he is not an offensive threat beyond the inside game. Problem is, “muscle memory”, in the heat of battle and the moment, he defaults back to that sideways release. Can he ever change?
GRAY: I don’t see the improvement, if the Summer League is any sort of legitimate gauge. At any rate, not the answer clearly. At least he doesn’t make much.
OMER ASIK:
For two second-round draft picks, I hope that somebody “knows something”. One draft pick secured Camby, the Bulls spent TWO second round picks, via Sonny Weems (instead of CDR-Memphis, btw). The guy Asik is supposed to be a freak and shot-blocking phenomenon, at least in Europe. He had 19 blocks in one game for the record there. Will he pin Dwight Howard? Who knows, but he IS legit 7 feet. What’s the old saying, You can’t coach height. But his contract in Europe will keep him there this next season, and the next one as well.

He didn't have 19 blocks

in a single game. It was in a series (or something like that).

Good shot-blocker indeed, but not “that” good (nobody could be that good anyway).

The Game chose him !
