Vince Carter
Bulls need a big time scorer, he can still score 20+ a night, he can take the shot at the end of the game. He's consistent, he's a bit of a chucker but he can get to the rim. New Jersey is looking to cut cost to sign Lebron so here's my proposed offer. Carter for Hughes (2010 goldmine) and Thabo.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=136~356~3028&teams=4~17~17&te=&cash=
This gives Chicago; Rose/Hinrich, Carter, Deng, Gooden, and Noah. Bench involving: BG/Kirk or Rose/Noc/Thomas. We trade two guards for one. That cuts down on the clustered back court issue. Hughes is bound to ride the pine all season for 12 million nonetheless, this gives the Bulls a chance to compete this season. I don't think the bulls are going to be able to compete in the 2010 free agents chase. As a fan i would love to see a Rose, Ty Thomas, and Vince on the floor at the same time, at the least they should be able to put up some points.
After the Nets gave away Jefferson this makes me believe the they'll take another overpaid guard/cap space in 2010 and a bit of a prospect in Thabo.
Talk to me, what do you think?

You guys realize if you all just rec'd him
that would make a nice glowing green (I believe that’s what happens, anyway) comment that would absolutely stand out?
If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.
but then they don't get their names to show up

that's true...
I just like colorful things.
If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.
I do, too.
They could have put their names out there and REC’d it. or whatever that plus one thing is called.
Jeese!
That’s an awfull lot of attention for a simle “No”-comment
Beats the crap outta my carefully crafted olympic pre-tournament post.
I DO like that little green thingy, though. Thanks everyone who contributed! ;)
Now, go have an opinion about that tournament! :P
lol
seriously i did the +1 to pretty much say i agreed. and then everyone else took off with it :D
if i was able to watch the tournament, i’d give an opinion…
That's how I took it. :)
They sure did! Those nutty counters…
Heh, I can’t watch either… :( But it’s still a valid excuse for you. :)
I wish it pulsated green
And shot out fireworks, that would really grab the attention of the readers.
I was a multiple time all star throughout my little league career. Won 5 championships- 4 in a row- thats more in a row than MJ… (kenwo4life@aol.com)

If we aren't careful, the leanness we now feel will be the starvation of those we serve.

Maybe...
The Nets will want something more than that. I would even try sending Gordon + Hughes. I don´t think Gordon will be here in the long run so why not using him as leverage. Plus I think we should keep Thabo, he is young, cheap and will be more useful than Gordon
Pretty sure
the Nets don’t want to be totally uncompetitive for the next two years
I think Vince has become so maligned for his Toronto comments about not trying
and the overall ease with which he plays the game, that he has become slightly underrated. He’s an unbelievable scorer, a pretty solid defender (which he doesn’t get any credit for), and has been remarkably consistent over his career. The only real valid knocks on him are his inability to stay healthy, his age, and the whole Toronto debacle (which I think is a little silly, but hey I’m not a Raps fan). Anyway, I’d rather have Vince as my starting SG than Gordon for next year, but long term, I don’t know that it makes sense because Vince will probably be slowing down a bit in the next couple years.

Eh, it's not that it's a bad idea
Carter would be a big upgrade over Gordon, and you might be right that we can get him for Thabo and Hughes, but that ties up our cap space till 2011, and I don’t think it gives us a championship team.
That's a lot of money on that contract for a player who's heart doesn't seem to be in the game.
But I don’t think Vince is ‘done’ due to age. He has a very effective post up game and he can shoot it, although I think he takes more jump-shots than he needs to. He’d be great if he got to the line more often, as he definitely has the frame and athleticism to attack the rim. While his defense is not worthy of a ‘How to play D’ video, his size bothers opposing players a lot, but he needs to challenge more shots.
In tems of the players involved in this proposed deal, I’d vote yes. Would you rather Kirk be your starting 2, or VC?
No.
That still leaves us with 4 “starting” guards. And you got rid of the one guard (Thabo) who could potentially be converted into a 3. Plus, while watching Vince Carter 10 years ago was exciting, watching him now makes my knees hurt.
Why don’t you “think the bulls are going to be able to compete in the 2010 free agents chase”? They’re going to be one of the most desired destinations so that comment makes NO sense.
No way
VC is pretty much the nets for the next two years plus hesthe nets only player that will sell tickets
I think I have a better trade..more space for 2010!

I suck!
Maybe just post the players names involved
If we don’t believe it will work, we’ll go check the trade machine ourselves…

that wouldn't work anymore
the salaries and trade work, but the nets dont want noce anymore remember?
$67,291,250
Over the next 4 years is what Vince is due according to draftexspress.com his deal increases from $14,724,125 to $16,123,250 to $17,522,375 and $18,921,500 in the last year which is partially unguaranted. I don’t know what partially unguaranted means in NBA speak, but $67,291,250 is alot of $$ for a declining superstar.
Rose / Obama 08
Ya But
Its still better $ for $ than Larry Hughes. And if there is anyway we can get rid of Larry with BG or Noc for VC and one of their young bigs I think that would be good.

agreed
Plus Thabo would not be needed in that trade. The Nets would do VC for Hughes straight up
No
They didnt take the Wally salary Dump from Cavs, they wont take straight dump from chicago

"Partially unguaranteed"
This would come into play in two ways. One is if we wanted to buy him out; only the guaranteed portion would count against our cap. Two would be if we cut him; we might not have to pay his contract that last year if the reason it’s unguaranteed (ineffectiveness, injury, etc.) was the reason we wanted to cut him.
Half Man
Half Tin Man.
No thanks.
John Paxson has been like family to me. I can no more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother, who also was unable to pull off any deals for superstar free agents or hire a top-notch coach.
You don't like dribble step pack jump shooters?
We really need more of these players.

I'm a Carter fan, too
as long as he’s on someone else’s team.

Half man-Half season
to the bulls? it’s cool as long as he could be the nxt jordan everybody was talkin bout few years back, but ain’t gonna happen, he is old already, he was’nt even an all-star last year.. oh well
...and derrick rose dunks over YAO!!!!
I'd rather have TMac than Carter
you take a gamble with TMac’s motivation maybe, but I think you take a bigger gamble with Carter’s knees.
