Rose missing Friday's game, likely to get MRI this weekend
[From the FanShots. I'm not too concerned, but I'm usually not until it's far too late. -ed.]
Yes, yes, I know..."it's not serious."
Really, though, if his knee turns out to be a wreck in the next few years, how bad does this make Pax look? I hope he's right when he says it's nothing to worry about...but I'm not going to lie, this lingering issue has me a bit worried over here :\

It was widely publicized that Rose had tendonitis.
They have a whole section in the Memphis library of Rose’s MRI’s.
I don’t think Paxson, Mr. Due Diligence himself, would have drafted Rose without being completely convinced his knee issues were not knee problems.

Oden's right leg is 2" shorter than his left.
There’s been talk of radical leg-breaking, bone-insertion therapy to try to deal with his life-long history of leg problems.
Not exactly the same thing as tendonitis.

He just needs some cool lift shoes
Or rather one.

-Roberto Clemente
First I heard of that one
Oden wears an insert in his shoe, similar to what Brandon Roy wears for the heel.
Legs being different lengths is common for 7 footers. It might become a problem later, but it’s only known because of how much scrutiny Oden (and Durant) were under in the days leading up to the draft.
There is no talk of breaking Oden’s leg and inserting extra leg to even it out. He doesn’t have a life-long history of leg problems. He hurt his wrist before and has had the knee problem.
Tendonitis isn’t a big deal, and I hope that’s all this is with Rose. It’s something nearly every player plays through, and I don’t see a problem letting him start to get adjusted to an 82 game schedule while dealing with tendonitis; however, it is just summer league.

My thoughts exactly
If it was a real game Rose would probably be playing. As it is just summer league, no point. Let the scrubs looking for roster spots hash it out. I’m just glad none of our regulars turned an ankle or anything else during their stint.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
I hope that this is nothing.
But after seeing Oden go down with a “minor” injury… Ugh. I hope this doesn’t end badly.
Just like how Paxson traded three picks for Asik
when Omer was about to sign a 5 year extension?
Except we heard today that that wasn't true.
Paxson was right. Givony was wrong.
Dum spiro spero! (While there is life, there’s hope!)--Leon Trotsky
Yeah, my fault for propagating that rumor.
In the latest BullsBeat, Doug Thonus said one of the first things Paxson said to him was that they got that thing wrong. From my view point, big hit to Givony’s credibility since he was so adamant about it.
That would
explain how I could never find any evidence supporting it online. Mystery solved.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
About Asik not being 5 years?
Yeah, Alec isn’t big on backing things he types w/ “evidence” or fact. If I hadn’t listened to BullsBeat myself, I’d probably be calling Alec some dirty names right now.
I already credited you yesterday for putting an end to this rumor.
What more do you want?

i don’t want to see any more of this tomfoolery on this guestbook. and get off my motherfucking lawn.---good ole larry
Hopefully the MRI returns negative
and all Rose needs is to rest his knee. I would even go as far as to say to rest him from the Olympic training games in Vegas. Not worth it until they get his knee to a stable point. Having it flaring up after a few summer league games is troublesome.
It’s too bad, because I liked what I saw from TT and was hoping for a nice relaxing summer,.
But nooooo, we have to deal with Rose’s knee issue and Gordon/Deng’s contract negotiations. Oh well, have to look at the bright side, had the ping pong balls popped differently, we’d have drafted someone nowhere near as talented as Rose.

It is just inflammation of the knee
But, yeah a healthy knee is obviously better than whatever ailments Rose has. It’s clear we need to put him in a hyperbaric chamber whenever he is not playing.
one of the articles
said they were considering putting rose through a strength training program for his knee or something.
it’s not that big of a deal, but it does need to be dealt with.
Makes sense
And I wasn’t joking about the chamber, either. It’s been proven to be effective for athletes to recover from nagging injuries, I’m sure he can afford one.

Hyperbaric chamber and Gilbert Arenas
Of course the two go together. I remember hearing a story while in DC that Gil tried to turn his entire house into a hyperbaric chamber.
Wait, Google to the rescue! Here’s the story.
Seriously, I love my Bulls, but having lived in DC for some time now, Arenas and the Wizards are worth the price of admission. They’re just a fun team, all around. Stealing each others’ clothes, getting in paintball fights, shaving stuff in their head, getting Soulja Boy to their playoff games to diss Jay-Z.
I just wish the Bulls had a little more fun. Kirk, BG, Tyrus and now Rose. These guys compete, but they’re not the 85 Bears. Can you imagine what stories would have come out of the locker room with Noah and Beasley in there? Like a Charles Barkley double feature.
Excuse my digression.

no way
after the dirty play towards the Cav’s in the playoffs I lost respect for the wizards. Even before the Cav-Wiz’s playoff series began the uber-intelligent wizards called LeBron overrated and then Arenas promised they wouldn’t lose 3 playoff series in a row. The feud further continued because DeShawn kept on doing his famous “hand gesture’ as a taunt towards the Cavs. When LeBron was interviewed about the rivalry between him and DeShawn he said there wasn’t one because comparing DeShawn to him (LBJ) was like comparing one-hit-wonder Soulja boy to mega-record seller jay-z. His comment was blown way out of proportion. DeShawn Stevenson wanted to further the hype and invited and bought Soulja Boy a ticket to game 3 in DC. Back then and even until now Soulja boy didn’t say anything derogatory towards LBJ or Jay-Z but Soulja Boy apparently was guilty by association and out of no where jay-z wrote a freestyle-song (that took him less than an hour to write/record) as an answer to all the wizards’ chit talk and dirty play—->http://youtube.com/watch?v=pWdluT_DOxw The wizards did end up losing for the third time in a row and made LeBron look even more unstoppable while embarrassing DC in the process. im not trying to jump on anyones case its just this rose report is very irritating.

Exactly!
You summed up my point perfectly! That’s a hilarious story: guaranteed victories, a scrub starting some feud with a perennial all-star, stupid rapper appearances, dis tracks! That shit is hilarious!
Some people don’t like drama with their teams. But, as long as it doesn’t affect the W column (and the Wiz normally win more when they’re loose, they would’ve lost to the Lebrons anyways), I love that sort of stuff. As a 5’11” dude with no game, I like to see pro athletes genuinely enjoying being pro athletes! It humanizes them and makes them easier to support.
Yeah, you can knock em down a few points for giving Lebron the Bad Boy treatment. But I love the swagger! Our guys rarely look like they’re having FUN on the court, and it’s nice to watch the Wizards really live it up on the court. You get caught up in it, and I can tell you the entire city was abuzz during the Cavs series.
But, to each his own…

nah i get what you sayin now
you’re right DC was fired up ass hell. the white out was really a white out. guess im a little jealous, i watch so much bball but im starving to watch the bulls at least get to the conference finals. but i still think d wade has every reason to come in 2010. its his home town and he idolized MJ. why not bring a ring to your hometown and retire at home? just hope pax has an ace up his sleeve. rose can be ready that season but damn im tired of waitin, guess because im a compulsive mofo obviously.

I hate being a negative nancy...
But things have not been going the way i was hoping they would after they drafted rose. I know its just tendinitis and whatever, but after what happened to oden, livingston and williams, i can’t help but get really worried. i just hope the bulls training staff put rose on a steady diet of lower body exercises once this tendinitis goes down. Squats in particular. And maybe someone should show rose videotape of walter payton’s workouts. wow. yes, sweetness was lucky that he was NEVER injured, but his off-season workouts were crazy. Rose must put in almost as much time in lifting and running as he puts in for bball. Its important, especially for durability.
Second, what the hell is going on with re-signing BG and deng??
I have reached my breaking point with pax’s due dilligence. pax moves like a geriatric compared to other GM’s. give those guys their money!!!! stop fucking around
peace
I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE
jesus...
seems like Greg Oden part 2…i guess thats taking it too far, but still…I hope they just let Rose rest until the start of the season
seriously
shut him down for a month or whatever time needed. loul missed what like a month? if rose is going to be playin in this league for the next 12+ years one month won’t matter. Hell he could work on his FT and have ben gordon school him on his jumper mechanics.

The only thing concerning about it right now
is that a big part of what makes DRose such an enticing prospect is the speed and athleticism. It doesn’t sound like a serious knee problem, but something they definitely need to get figured out so whenever he gets back to playing he can go full speed. Maybe it’s one of those things where he’s going to have to control his gym rat tendencies a bit even if that means his game develops a little bit slower.
Hopefully the team has learned something about dealing with lingering injuries after Noc’s plantar fasciitis and Lu’s achilles.
If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.
Defective players
Didn’t Jordan break his leg in his 1st or 2nd year? Whatever the situation is with Rose….we will overcome this so-called crisis.
Am I going too far by saying that if he breaks his foot
We’re assured another dynasty?
Yes, I am.
Still, hope is scarce, and I’m buying.

foot, he broke his foot
and Jordan suffered from tendinitis.

I am also nervous about his knee. Is the MRI being done today?
Rose is a player very dependent on his quickness. Tendenitis at 19 years old is a concern. I hope we do not get a MRI report saying Rose needs that microfracture surgery and will be out for a year. I don’t think I could take that.
as far as summer leagues go, which isnt far,
this was pretty depressing. 3/5 of our ‘starting five’...I was looking for blowouts, excitement, etc. Instead we got an unskilled Noah and a gimpy Rose. I’m not saying the year will be doom and gloom. and we’re doing the smart thing with the mri. just that this was pretty disappointing!

Did you listen to the Bulls Beat podcast?
Doug was way more optimistic about things than I was coming out of summer league. Give it a listen. You’ll feel better.
roger that
appreciated

Should be fine
The pain goes away as you start playing. I have tendonitis as well in my right knee. I used to have it both knees. I partially tore a ligament in my left knee and after rehab I’ve haven’t had pain in that knee since. It’s rather odd.
Rose should be shut down anyway for at least two months. Get his personal affairs in order as he transitions from amateur to pro. Go get a house. Fill it with furniture. Don’t shop where Tank Johnson shops. Get settled. Watch film. Study your opponents.
He can practice free throws. ;)
Just plain ol' bad luck...
Bad luck or bad decisions, more likely a combination of the both, but that’s what we’ve had over the years.
I wouldnt be suprised if Roses knee issues end up being worse than we think.
We have somewhat of a history…
(in no particular order)
Jay Wil-bad luck. Yes i’m going that far back.
TT over LaMarcus-not looking good right now
Tyson Chandler-Blowing up in NO
Signing Ben Wallace-no longer here, and now we’re stuck w/ freakin’ Larry Hughes
Missing on Diantoni-bad judgement, Mike.
Letting EB go-All-star w/ Clips
Im putting my trust in Rose…don’t let me down, R1!
im not too worried
heck even kobe had tendintis at one point, and he turned out fine( though not quite as good as MJ ;)
For Chicago fans' sake, I hope it's just tendinitis
As a Blazer fan, I know I’m supposed to get all obnoxious and talk about blown picks. But in the bigger scheme of things, it’d be way too freaky if the #1 pick had serious knee-itis problems two years in a row.
It’s probably nothing to worry about. But then, I thought Oden was just going in for a little scope. The microfracture took us all by complete surprise. He had a bunch of MRIs done by the Blazer doctors before the draft, and his knees looked “pristine.” (I bet Pax gave Rose’s body the same looks before the draft.)
On the other hand, Brandon Roy’s heel gave him lots of problems last summer and I don’t think he even played in preseason games. It looked like a bad start to the year, but he ended up playing a ton of minutes in 74 games and the heel didn’t give him any further problems.
Does anyone know when we will get the results of the MRI?
I keep checking here. I think if the results are negative it will be reported quickly. If there is a problem they will want to have a plan to present to the media.
Calm down people.
I had tendonitis in my left knee since I was about 13 years old. I got it because I had a growth spurt over the summer. I even have a small knot under my knee cap to this day. I am 28 years old today and have played basketball my whole life. Most ballers have this condition in the NBA and in any type of organized ball.
My knee was weak untill I strenghting my legs by doing squats, lunges and leg presses. You have to strenghting the muscles surrounding the knee. Most guys hate working their lower bodies, so it is easy to have weaker legs muscles. I think Pax is just using caution by resting Rose becasue of what happened to Oden last summer. Oh, and I still have hops, but nothing like Derrick though.
Rose / Obama 08
I hope Rose's condition mimics yours.
Thanks for the post. I still would like to know about the MRI results. I do not want an Olden kind of year for Derrick.
Any news on the results of the MRI? Anything?
I love how the Chicago media can craft fifteen stories about Rose’s speeding fine, but can’t scrounge up any information regarding the results of this important MRI.
LSU 38 OHIO STATE 24 - LSU IS THE NATIONAL CHAMPION AND I AM THE KING OF BOURBON STREET!!
It is frustrating
That the chicago media seems a few steps behind when it comes to the Chicago Bulls recently. It seems that KC really enjoys his summer vacations…..
Still, I cant see Rose’s condition as being that serious. Leg strengthening can do wonders. I completely shredded my ACL and part of my PCL and didnt have health insurance, so opted to do a leg strengthening program instead of surgery. Three years later, as long as I do a light set of squats and some leg extensions once a week, I can run, play basketball, football and even water ski.
Considering Rose has some of the best trainers and doctors in the world, Im sure he can make it though tendonitis.
