Priorities: coach, trade, draft pick - in that order
1) Picking the right coach is the first priority to the Bulls. Skiles should have gone before that season even started. It was obvious that he didn't have the skill that the Bulls need and that is: mentoring young players. Hinrich, Gordon and Deng collapsed under he too much pressure and no development approach. Tyrus Thomas - who I still believe has great potential (he is only 21) - should be getting better. And now we have the #1 pick - So the FIRST thing to do is pick a Coach with teaching skills
2) Study trade scenarios. Getting rose means trading hinrinch. Getting Beasley means trading Gooden or TT or Noce or a combination of those. So, who can we get that will make the team better considering the pick to complete the team. Or trade the pick (that teams was a semi-finalist without Rose/Beasley - if the trade is good, trade the pick)
3) Draft. The Bulls will be better with either Rose or Beasley. I like Rose better, but we need a bigger view here...

pax is possessed..
agree..
young players need an experienced teacher.
a soft spoken guy.
a guy with gentle eyes.
hey
are we in the search for the next bachelor?
about the draft.
either way it depends upon the coach.
of how he’s gonna utilize the pick with the current roster the next season.
me too, i’d pick rose. just read my other comments on the other posts to get the reason why i picked rose.

What would it take to get both Rose and Beasley?
Is that even possible?
by Carlitro on Jun 5, 2008 1:06 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Miami trades Wade for Bulls 1st pick
and Miami lands both Rose and Beasley.
by exult463 on Jun 5, 2008 2:09 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Landing both
would only be interesting if we go for rebuilding again. We need a solid veteran… if only we could get Brand back…
by JustAnotherFan on Jun 5, 2008 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
dat is as possible as......
A) gettin struck by lightning
B)Miami trading the pick for Keith Van Horne’s contract
C)Tracy McGrady playing a full season
D)Ben Wallace getting another defensive player of the yr award
E)Joakim goin sober
F)John Paxson wearin a Ben Wallace Fro Wig
i can do this all day…basically its highly unlikely that this trade happens lol

As I get ready for the finals..and I see the celtics
I think….
Maybe getting a coach is overated…
by Belize on Jun 5, 2008 3:12 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Sure, but that's if you have a ridiculously veteran team like Boston
Look at how many vets the Celtics have. KG, Allen, Pierce, Posey, PJ Brown, Cassell, even Eddie House has been in some big playoff games for the Suns. They also have Thibodeau, so it’s not like their coaching staff is totally crap.
Plus, look at the West. Greg Popovich just made his 6th WCF in 9 seasons. Phil is making his 5th Finals appearance. Once the game gets going, coaches may not have much to do, but they are really instrumental in keeping a team focused and prepared over a very long season. With a team as young as the Bulls, a strong, intelligent head coach is a must-have.

True
we had the ball roling, with Ben..but he was the wrong veteran…maybe with Miami having Hinrich fever, we could swap the #2 and maybe get Haslim whos a quality vet…im just saying, maybe if we get a cheap vets, it would balance the coaching incompetency…

I don't understand all this criticism
over Doc Rivers. I think he is the ultimate players’ coach, he proved it in Orlando (some players overachieved with him) and now in Boston.
The Game chose him !

Who is overachieving in Boston?
So, he’s a good coach because by all accounts he’s a nice guy? I’ll give him some credit, but most of it goes to Ainge for pulling the 2 trades and making the right FA signings, and to Thibodeau and KG for instilling a strong defensive mentality in a C’s roster that wasn’t full of stalwarts in that category. I’ll give Doc props for creating what seems to be a very strong team bond between the players. The whole Ubuntu thing caught on with the roster, so that’s something he can hang his hat on. As for actual coaching, I watched the whole game and all he seems to do is just scream at the refs.

Coach: Avery Johnson or Doug Collins-Both would be good fits for the team we have right now.
Draft Pick: No brainer, D Rose
Trades: Kirk and after him it’s up in the air.

How bout van gundy?
Always repected him after I hated him in NY..just cuz its the knicks…still Phil gave us knick karma, maybe he could

Knick Karma?
I don’t think I want karma from the organization that hasn’t won a championship in 35 years, not to mention being owned by James Dolan and run by Isaiah Thomas for about 5 years too many. JVG’s already indicated that he doesn’t want to coach this year. Though, if the Bulls are really going to pursue the no nonsense, slow it down, play half court D route with Collins, JVG does look like the much more appealing candidate.

You sure about Johnson?
I think the last thing we need is a drill sarge or a coach. Esp if Pax shoots himself by drafting Beasley. Imagine the math
Drill Sarge + Rebellious kid with “mentality issues” = Scott Skiles + Ben Wallace PART II
by Alighieri on Jun 5, 2008 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Order
1. Coach – not really sure who…nothing really jumps out
2. Draft – Beasley. he was considered the #1 all year for good reasons.
3. Trade – eventually we have to get rid of the logjam in the backcourt. I’d prefer Hughes get moved before anyone else, but I understand that won’t be easy. It would be nice to have a bigger 2 to start and then let BG come off of the bench, but that obviously brings about some complications.
