I'm kinda excited

For Rose’s first pitch at the game today

by Option27 on Jun 27, 2008 2:59 PM CDT   0 recs

They actually just showed it before the bottom of the 2nd

and Rose is gonna be talking with Hawk and DJ in the third! I hope he resonates.

With Hawk and DJ?

Since he’s not a dipshit, no he won’t.

he's on the Sox radio broadcast right now

it was pretty good, he’s probably a little punchy after so little sleep.

a little too much, I'd say :)

well, at least he, unlike Paxson, isn’t worried about ‘easing in’ to the team.

I don't know if you're tongue is in your cheek here

but…whatever. Seems like #1 is a typical number for a complete f—-ing baller like Rose.

You know I find it interesting that all the "experts", or most of them any way

said the bulls should take Derrick Rose, but now it seems like everyone is downplaying his impact in the league. Meanwhile Beasley is getting most of the praise and ROY hype. The whole situation seems odd. It’s like Rose was the unanimous first pick, but Beasley is the can’t miss guy.

by Goostafer on Jun 27, 2008 3:28 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

To follow that

i don’t think it was ever a doubt that Beasley was ‘the sure thing’, the question was more about which player would be the face of the franchise. Many people have said Beasley can start out averaging 20-10 even as a rookie. Point being, a Franchise PG is worth more to a team than a scorer. And as it stands now, I have not heard one single negative comment on Rose, at all, from any one. It’s obvious which player will be the most productive from the start.

by Goostafer on Jun 27, 2008 3:36 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

See, I don't buy

that a point guard is worth more than a 20 10 guy. CHRIS PAUL might be, but Chris Paul is one of the top players in the game. Derrick Rose has to be a GREAT point guard that’s the part that everyone seems to be missing here.

by Juiceboxjerry on Jun 27, 2008 3:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No one is doubting the significance of a 20/10 player

But, there are instances where you can add that kind of talent and a team doesn’t improve that much. Having someone to effectively run an offense is more important. Elton Brand languished as a 20/10 player for lottery teams, but when he played alongside Cassell in 2006 he had a MVP caliber season. It’s not like Cassell made Brand better, but he was able to get the ball to Brand in ways that allowed him to score more efficiently. We drafted Rose because our offense is inefficient, relying on way too much dribbling and indecision. A scoring forward doesn’t solve that problem. Maybe if Hinrich didn’t play so poorly I would have had faith in him to run the offense and Beasley would have been the better choice. But, Kirk was terrible, and in my mind won’t regain a lot of his confidence.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 27, 2008 3:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I doubt the significance of the term '20/10 player'

now if a player actually averages 20 points and 10 rebounds…

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Jun 27, 2008 3:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Small sample, but two of the worst teams I've seen are led by 20 10 guys

Elton Brand with the Bulls for those two years and Al Jefferson last year, and at least these 20/10 guys are legit post players. Name me a team with an elite PG, young or not, that sucked nearly as bad as those teams. And by elite I mean a PG worth spending a top 3 pick on, not someone like Raymond Felton.

by messwiththebull on Jun 27, 2008 3:55 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I get that YOU don't buy that

but obviously, the way the league is moving, TEAMS buy that. And that’s really that matters. If they can build a team around a great PG (which we all pray DR can become) then what’s the difference?

"I'm a Bulls fan," -Barack Obama

by Goostafer on Jun 27, 2008 4:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

A 20/10 guy can be found

a lot easier than an excellent point guard. And since we are a young team we can spend some time on Rose the next 1-3 years and see how close he comes to that. Meanwhile, he is already skilled enough help those around him play better. Having Gordon get clearer shots and Noah and Tyrus have plays made for them goes a long way on our team. Having a guy who can rule the fast break and built to finish in the lane is also a bonus. I think that 20/10 will be spread across the stats and everyone’s game will benefit with a guy like Rose.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

by cranscape on Jun 27, 2008 4:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Heh

Isn’t it a mite early to be having a “D-Rose isn’t living up to the expectations of the #1 selection” conversation? Shouldn’t we maybe wait for games of any sort at all to be played before that grating topic is brought up?

In one of Rose's pre-draft post-workout interviews

the first guy he mentioned was Tyrus.

I’m thinking that in their interview Paxson probably talked to Rose about what he could do to get the ball to Tyrus.

What i find comical

Is that Beasley is being hailed as this pound the ball inside the post kind of player, when anyone who ever watched him play knows his game is way more midrange oriented, which explains why he has talked about his love of Carmelo like a million times. Also, I love how people say “You can’t win a title with a PG!” but think building a franchise around a tweener SF/PF is much more successful.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 27, 2008 3:45 PM CDT   0 recs

Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal he ain't.

That’s for sure. Hell, he’s not even Dirk Nowitski. If he were….

but dude, Beasley is the low post scorer the Bulls have lacked for years!!!!1111 duhhh!!!

I was never and never will be a KU fan. I’m a fan of Kirks’ because he is from Iowa. I’m also a fan of Nick Collison because he’s from the town I live in.

Ozzie, I’ve never said anything about Beasley or Rose.

by sue369 on Jun 27, 2008 8:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well, I think they're envisioning him

as a Sir Charles or Kral Malone type of power forward, and that would be the model for winning titles. Wait a minute, never mind.

by California Al on Jun 27, 2008 11:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well,

it could theoretically be a formula for winning titles. Unless they all run into the one guy who can deny them all titles. Simply looking at all the guys that DIDN’T win a title because of MJ is amazing.
