What would be Derrick's nickname?
OK.Congrats everyone - we got our Rose.Pro Beasley guys need some time to recover,I guess.
Lets enjoy this moment, lets have some fun and think about his new nickname. His mom use to call him "Pooh"(love candys)-I don't like it.
Don't like "D-Rose" also- reminds me of another Chicagoan.
My version for Derrick is-"Captain Rose"(sorry Kirk,nothing personal)."True" point guard-True captain!
What do you think?Any ideas?

In the tradition of Boobie Gibson,
Ya can’t mess with those family nicknames.
If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.

It does kind of grab you.
Now I’m going to think of him that way no matter what nicknames people try to make stick.

A Very Happy Thursday
“Let’s go and see everybody,” said Pooh. “Because when you’ve been walking in the wind for miles, and you suddenly go into somebody’s house, and he says, ‘Hallo, Pooh, you’re just in time for a little smackerel of something,’ and you are, then it’s what I call a Friendly Day.”
Piglet thought that they ought to have a Reason for going to see everybody, like Looking for Small or Organizing an Expotition, if Pooh could think of something.
Pooh could.
“We’ll go because it’s Thursday,” he said, “and we’ll go to wish everybody a Very Happy Thursday. Come on, Piglet.”

clarification
Rose said last night that the “Pooh” nickname doesn’t come from his love of candys or sweets. He said it came because when he was a baby he was chubby and light, like Pooh.
I, for one, am not going to be calling another man “Pooh”...so I will be going will plain old “D. Rose” :-)

If Rose is Pooh
then who is Tigger? Can’t have one without the other, now can we? Tigger is very confident in his skills and has quite an ego. He often thinks of himself as being handsome, and many of his comments suggest he has a high opinion of himself. He often undertakes tasks with gusto, only to later realize they were not as easy as he had originally imagined; he does not take direction or criticism well. He also seems to have springs in his feet and can leap very high. Does this sound like anyone on the Bulls? I can see this line of thought opening up an entirely new marketing channel targeted to the highly desirable 3-6 year-old demographic. Maybe we can coax Barney to replace Benny the Bull.

Such a talented player doesn’t deserve a PA announcer who is so bad. Bring back Ray Clay, against his will if they must.

the candyman!!!
it just popped into my head when i saw the name of this fanpost. i think it works on 2 levels. the boy loves his sweets, and candyman was a fucking maniac in a film set in chicago. ridiculous? yes. stupid? probably. but what the hell? i kinda like it.

Candyman is a drug dealer song on Grateful Dead's American Beauty...
(Maybe there aren’t enough Grateful Dead/NBA fans for that to matter.)
Plus, Olawakandi, maybe the biggest 1st pick flop of all time, was the Candyman.

YOU'RE ABOUT A YEAR TOO LATE :)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nlLkdPAEAG0
this is a derrick rose interview that was taken before he started at memphis. he said his nick name was pooh and his tattoo was a wizard holding a basketball that read “POOHDINI” like the great whodini or sugar-bear because he loves sweets. And his TEAM US basketball coach said his name should be ‘memphis rose’ or the ‘candyman’ because he loves candy. lol everytime i see this video i laugh cuz its kinda funny when he say’s “D. ROSE IS COMING TO MEMPHIS.” He’s prob. barley 18 in this vid.

I thought you would have picked it up since you’re on top of pretty much everything. But, then again, I doubt most people remember Whodini.

And before my time + hip hop = no clue for me. Though I have heard their work hijacked in a hipster friendly format. If Mark Arm or David Pajo contributed to Whodini, I assure you I would have been all over it.

LOL LOL LOL
wow you guys are on top of everything around here. lol. i misspelled ‘whodini’ and it happend to be an old-school rap group(see above). I meant to spell “the great Houdini” as in Harry Houdini the famous magician/ illusionist. Also in that video he say’s his favorite movie right now was “the illusionist.” (i couldn’t watch the whole thing through-zzZZZzzzZZ) so i guess he digs being the “magic man” like taladega nights(can anyone post a pick of ‘shake and bake’?)
Magic is a performing art that entertains an audience by creating illusions of impossible1 or supernatural2 feats, using purely natural means. These feats are called magic tricks, effects or illusions. An artist who performs illusions is called a magician. Some performers may also be referred to by names reflecting the type of magical effects they present, such as prestidigitators, conjurors, illusionists, mentalists, ventriloquists, and escape artists.

The Poohdunkulous Poohdigious P-Dizzle FaZizzle-Shizzle. Always.
His jersey should be 1.7.
John Paxson has been like family to me. I can no more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother, who also was unable to pull off any deals for superstar free agents or hire a top-notch coach.
