I was smiling too

Until I remembered that Dick Vitale plays a prominent role on ESPN’s draft coverage.

Hell yes

I remember creating that lucky thread a month ago, now it is come to this.

I am solely responsible for getting the Bulls this luck, my mental powers are far superior than NBAO’s.

Hey Thank you!

But give some credit to Schanwald!:-)

Jay Bilas wtf

What the hell is a Diaper Draft?

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 6:04 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I want to hear Bilas say...

“he gets his hands on a lot of balls”...just once.

Step 1 - Win lottery. Step 2 - Hire a coach. Step 3 - Win.

Katz: Bulls take Rose.

Ugh. Best fit? Can’t we say “best player?”

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:06 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Personally, I don't.

But I’d like to think they would draft best talent over need.

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I mean, if what Katz said is true, it means they think Beasley is the better player.

And I’d trust their judgment over mine. Just because I think he’s the best doesn’t mean he is.

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:08 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Or they think they are the same, talent wise

but Rose is a better fit.

Or, more likely, they are just spouting cliches.

by JeffD on Jun 26, 2008 6:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow...

Pax is the most gutless GM ever. Always goes for the safe option…

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Safe?

Everyone is assuming Beasley is the immediate impact and Rose is the project.

Oh and there was Tyrus Thomas . . .

I have no idea what you’re talking about

by Option27 on Jun 26, 2008 6:20 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

"character issues"

...also not trading for KG, Pau. Always going for the “nice kid” that will behave.

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Still don't get it

Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas both aren’t your typical nice kids as you can tell from this past year.

He offered a shit load to Minnesota the year before they actually traded him. They didn’t bite.

Memphis just wanted cap space. Something the Bulls didn’t have.

Pax has gambled.

by Option27 on Jun 26, 2008 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Whatever...

it’sRose for the next 15 years now. Let’s hope we win loads of Chips with him. Will be interesting to see what our next move will be…

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes KG and Pau are superstars that can carry their teams

After all of last season, I cannot believe you are still thinking like that.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Paxson offered...

...Tyson Chandler, Luol Deng, and the #2 pick in the draft for KG.

Essentially, you’re blaming Kevin McHale’s stupidity on Paxson.

You really don’t know what you’re writing about.

by BullsFanInSeattle on Jun 26, 2008 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The point is that Pax...

... is conservative in his strategy. I can’t believe you are disputing this…

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm disputing....

....some of your evidence of it. He may be conservative, but:

1. Not to the extreme that you believe; and
2. It probably didn’t have ANYTHING to do with this pick.

Paxson thinks Rose is the best player, as do I and about 75-80% of the public. We may be wrong, but this isn’t a case of Paxson believing that Beasley is better yet picking Rose.

It’s like the folks who yipe about Paxson not trading for Kobe – when anybody who knows anything about the NBA and the Lakers know that Kobe was never available.

Man, I love the draft.

Can’t wait to see what weird trades happen, or who goes ridiculously high, or which kid is stuck in the green room getting the Brady Quinn treatment.

Even Stephen A. and Dick Vitale commentary can’t ruin it.

Defensively, it kinda makes sense.

Marion is really good at guarding 3’s. It could be a bit crowded on offense though… and Marion won’t be happy getting kicked out of the post/pick-and-roll again (like in Phoenix).

by bull83 on Jun 26, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I do agree

I’d rather keep Gordon than Hinrich, but Hinrich would be tough to trade because of his contract and Gordon is a restricted fee agent.

by Big D on Jun 26, 2008 7:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't understand why everyone says Hinrich's contract is a problem.

You do realize that his contract declines in pay every year. Not to mention that he is somewhere in the top 13-18 PGs in the league. He is a very tradable asset

by Mattchoo on Jun 26, 2008 7:35 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sorry, but Hinrich

never really came off as anything but a serviceable PG. He never seemed very vocal on the court and as co-captain with Deng last year the team imploded. I don’t dislike Hinrich, but teacher doesn’t seem like something he should be doing with an impressionable rookie. Hire someone to teach him like you’d hire a big man coach.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

by cranscape on Jun 26, 2008 6:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think if a really solid trade for the team involving Hinrich comes along, he'll do it.

But if he’s letting Du walk, they do need someone else who can handle the ball. I don’t see that they have a ton of control over where things go with BG.

Wow, Devin Harris, Darrell Arthur (???) and Brook Lopez...

...to go along w/ LeBron James in 2 years? Hmm…

I know right

His draft file has a constipated picture of him.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:34 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

WAK UP PAX!!!

SEND NOCE TO THE SPURS FOR THE #26. We can get a good Big guy

Please Pax!!! Can you trade Hughes???

by bull83 on Jun 26, 2008 8:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

How?

I dont think that would work… Noce is worth more than the 26th

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i don't think he is

but it would be tough to make the salaries work.

by swede2287 on Jun 26, 2008 8:37 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe theoretically, but it clears space for the Bulls

It wouldn’t be the worst idea ever.

If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.

Exactly

Please Pax!!! Can you trade Hughes???

by bull83 on Jun 26, 2008 8:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

he's traveling in a car thru a under ground bridge

at the moment, playing on his new cell phone saying

“can you hear me now”

by exult463 on Jun 26, 2008 8:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Blazers

Thats a nice pick with Bayless. I still think they would take Kirk or Noce.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:41 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't see a need for Kirk

on their roster with Bayless trade, maybe still some Noc interest, but his contract and defensive play are n’t so attractive to any team.

by exult463 on Jun 26, 2008 8:47 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

back court

Bayless, Hinrich and Roy sounds sick.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:49 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

who's gonna fall out of the first round

and guaranteed money?

arthur is holding his breath.

by swede2287 on Jun 26, 2008 8:42 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I feel sorry for him

Hes going in the first round though Portland, Memphis, Detroit and Boston couldnt pass on him. Especially him playing the 3 in Portland.

Seattle

Has to take Jordan

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:46 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Arthur, Greene and Jordan all falling hard.

Is there any way that CDR makes it to Chicago in the 2nd round?

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 8:49 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't see how he doesn't get snatched up by SA

Bruce Bowen is a million years old, they need someone else who can be a SG/SF.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 8:50 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess not trying hard enough in college comes back to bite you

Arthur and Jordan were heralded as lottery picks for months.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 8:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Or

Any of the gentlemen you mentioned… Hardin wouldnt be a bad choice but id still rather Jordan for his physical abilities.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 8:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jordan is a project

The Bulls have enough stuff to worry about, they ahve to add another 7 footer with raw talent to the mix? Let them develop Tyrus first.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Jordan falls out of the 1st round, I'd trade up to get him

Maybe there’s only a 5 percent chance that he’ll be any good, but his upside is great enough that he’s worth a gamble. I wouldn’t want to give him a guaranteed contract, but I’d take him in the 2nd round in a minute.

by Big D on Jun 26, 2008 8:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

those idiots at espn would interview arthur

while he’s been and still is waiting to get drafted..

by swede2287 on Jun 26, 2008 8:53 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Ah, Seattle with a raw big

Now it’s a draft!

If nothing else, taking Rose will at least piss off Pat Riley.

Must improve: Experience

That’s what ESPN said, anyways.

I thought Sam Presti was a genius?

What’s the point of having 9 picks if you don’t pick the right players?

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 8:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It kind of seemed like a pre-decided pick,

like it was anticipated that there wouldn’t be anyone good left?

efficient scorer.

reggie miller probably was one of te most efficient scorers in NBA history?

He's great, but not that efficient.

Over Chris Douglas-Roberts?

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 9:01 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah....

but you know the spurs aren’t going to pick some slouch.

by swede2287 on Jun 26, 2008 9:03 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

DraftExpress is reporting that Batum was trying to go to the Spurs.

Apparently, they hid his physical after his medical problem to try to get to the Spurs and Batum’s agent told DX, right after he was picked, “We just missed it by one pick.”

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I bet

Nawlins is wishing they had that pick.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 9:04 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Fuck the Blazers

Seriously? Arthur as your backup to LMA?

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 9:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, Portland FUCKING AGAIN had the steals of the draft.

A Top-5 pick at 13 and a Lottery pick at 27??? What? I’m so angry w/ Portland. I hope they never put it together.

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 9:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Seriously, Matt better block any shitboxes that ever try to post from Blazers Edge

They have stocked so much fucking talent, they could go get Carmelo just for the hell of it.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 9:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

11 picks left

Only five players I like left.

by TRiCioNeRo on Jun 26, 2008 9:18 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Jordan could be available

If we could get Walker I say he’s worth the risk

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

either would be a helluva pick at that point. don't see it happening though :\

CDR and Chalmers still out there

by wjb1492 on Jun 26, 2008 9:23 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't get it

CDR was projected everywhere from 10-20. What’s so bad about him that successful teams wouldn’t pick him?

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm wondering if it's a problem of who they worked out for?

I mean, it makes no sense to me – but maybe the teams picking now just didn’t really scope them out or something.

Chris Douglas Roberts to NETS 40th pick

WTF, man Bulls picked Sonny Weems 39th pick, wtf, He is a forward who is 6’5 and CDR never lost a game of 1 on 1 in his life (thats wat he says) and he is also 6’7! What the hell were the Bulls thinking right there?18ppg
BTW CDR was best player on Memphis before D-Rose took over. 18ppg, 4.1 rebs. Wow, just wow nice one Pax.

Read the "Omar Asik' post thing.

I was miffed by it too, but meh, we’re getting a center in two years. Who is apparently very good, and has a large amount of potential.
Let’s trade Hinrich for CDR and someone else good! Err … Nets, nets … I can’t think of anyone good on the nets anymore. Crap. Err. Maybe they can give up like $30 million. And then … they’ll … have two point guards. Woo. This is totally plausible.
