I was smiling too

Until I remembered that Dick Vitale plays a prominent role on ESPN’s draft coverage.

by Big D on Jun 26, 2008 6:02 PM CDT reply actions

Hell yes

I remember creating that lucky thread a month ago, now it is come to this.

I am solely responsible for getting the Bulls this luck, my mental powers are far superior than NBAO’s.

Jay Bilas wtf

What the hell is a Diaper Draft?

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 6:04 PM CDT reply actions

I want to hear Bilas say...

“he gets his hands on a lot of balls”...just once.

Step 1 - Win lottery. Step 2 - Hire a coach. Step 3 - Win.

Finally

We are here congradulations to you and all the true Bulls fans out there. This is a special moment and im glad to spend it with people who enjoy this as much as myself.

Katz: Bulls take Rose.

Ugh. Best fit? Can’t we say “best player?”

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:06 PM CDT reply actions

Personally, I don't.

But I’d like to think they would draft best talent over need.

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions

I mean, if what Katz said is true, it means they think Beasley is the better player.

And I’d trust their judgment over mine. Just because I think he’s the best doesn’t mean he is.

by tyger1147 on Jun 26, 2008 6:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Or they think they are the same, talent wise

but Rose is a better fit.

Or, more likely, they are just spouting cliches.

by JeffD on Jun 26, 2008 6:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Wow...

Pax is the most gutless GM ever. Always goes for the safe option…

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Safe?

Everyone is assuming Beasley is the immediate impact and Rose is the project.

Oh and there was Tyrus Thomas . . .

I have no idea what you’re talking about

by Option27 on Jun 26, 2008 6:20 PM CDT up reply actions

"character issues"

...also not trading for KG, Pau. Always going for the “nice kid” that will behave.

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Still don't get it

Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas both aren’t your typical nice kids as you can tell from this past year.

He offered a shit load to Minnesota the year before they actually traded him. They didn’t bite.

Memphis just wanted cap space. Something the Bulls didn’t have.

Pax has gambled.

by Option27 on Jun 26, 2008 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Whatever...

it’sRose for the next 15 years now. Let’s hope we win loads of Chips with him. Will be interesting to see what our next move will be…

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes KG and Pau are superstars that can carry their teams

After all of last season, I cannot believe you are still thinking like that.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 26, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Paxson offered...

...Tyson Chandler, Luol Deng, and the #2 pick in the draft for KG.

Essentially, you’re blaming Kevin McHale’s stupidity on Paxson.

You really don’t know what you’re writing about.

by BullsFanInSeattle on Jun 26, 2008 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions

The point is that Pax...

... is conservative in his strategy. I can’t believe you are disputing this…

The No 1 Chi -Town sports fan in Europe!

by Vangelis on Jun 26, 2008 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm disputing....

....some of your evidence of it. He may be conservative, but:

1. Not to the extreme that you believe; and
2. It probably didn’t have ANYTHING to do with this pick.

Paxson thinks Rose is the best player, as do I and about 75-80% of the public. We may be wrong, but this isn’t a case of Paxson believing that Beasley is better yet picking Rose.

It’s like the folks who yipe about Paxson not trading for Kobe – when anybody who knows anything about the NBA and the Lakers know that Kobe was never available.

Man, I love the draft.

Can’t wait to see what weird trades happen, or who goes ridiculously high, or which kid is stuck in the green room getting the Brady Quinn treatment.

Even Stephen A. and Dick Vitale commentary can’t ruin it.

Defensively, it kinda makes sense.

Marion is really good at guarding 3’s. It could be a bit crowded on offense though… and Marion won’t be happy getting kicked out of the post/pick-and-roll again (like in Phoenix).

Well, now comes the long wait for summer league.

(Do number one overall draft picks even participate in summer league?)

After summer leaue, the five year continuous debate about whether or not Paxson made the right choice.

Please Pax!!! Can you trade Hughes???

by bull83 on Jun 26, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I do agree

I’d rather keep Gordon than Hinrich, but Hinrich would be tough to trade because of his contract and Gordon is a restricted fee agent.

by Big D on Jun 26, 2008 7:05 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't understand why everyone says Hinrich's contract is a problem.

You do realize that his contract declines in pay every year. Not to mention that he is somewhere in the top 13-18 PGs in the league. He is a very tradable asset

by Mattchoo on Jun 26, 2008 7:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Sorry, but Hinrich

never really came off as anything but a serviceable PG. He never seemed very vocal on the court and as co-captain with Deng last year the team imploded. I don’t dislike Hinrich, but teacher doesn’t seem like something he should be doing with an impressionable rookie. Hire someone to teach him like you’d hire a big man coach.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

by cranscape on Jun 26, 2008 6:56 PM CDT up reply actions

I think if a really solid trade for the team involving Hinrich comes along, he'll do it.

But if he’s letting Du walk, they do need someone else who can handle the ball. I don’t see that they have a ton of control over where things go with BG.

Kirk in Balance

Trade Kirk now: worth 5.5 million to us, 9 million to the partner.

Trade Kirk on or after Tuesday: Worth 9 million to us, 9 million to the partner.

The Bucks just picked a SF they may try to play the PF. They didn’t pick a PG. They are paying Charlie Bell and Mo Williams. Would Charlie Bell work as a backup PG for us?

Are there better destinations for Kirk? Does it have to be now or can it be AFTER negotiations with Deng and Gordon?

Chris Douglas Roberts to NETS 40th pick

WTF, man Bulls picked Sonny Weems 39th pick, wtf, He is a forward who is 6’5 and CDR never lost a game of 1 on 1 in his life (thats wat he says) and he is also 6’7! What the hell were the Bulls thinking right there?18ppg
BTW CDR was best player on Memphis before D-Rose took over. 18ppg, 4.1 rebs. Wow, just wow nice one Pax.

Read the "Omar Asik' post thing.

I was miffed by it too, but meh, we’re getting a center in two years. Who is apparently very good, and has a large amount of potential.
Let’s trade Hinrich for CDR and someone else good! Err … Nets, nets … I can’t think of anyone good on the nets anymore. Crap. Err. Maybe they can give up like $30 million. And then … they’ll … have two point guards. Woo. This is totally plausible.
