Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, so sorry if it is a duplicate! There's also a small video on the website to watch. Does it seem like ESPN is adopting Beasley as the star of the draft?

The boy's got a good personality...

that’s all. Every espn analysist I’ve seen has ranked Rose as #1 in talent and also has ranked him as being taken by the Bulls at #1. Sooo, they got access to Beasley and he’s a media whore. Derrick was busy signing & shooting ads with the Jordan Brand…

I think

Most media outlets and draft places put rose at first not because he is the better talent, but more because it seems more likely the bulls will pick the guard especially since pgs like rose are definetly in fashion at the moment. If chris paul hadnt made such a big commotion this season i dont think rose would be going number 1.

I play nba 2k8 alot, and it has a news ticker that tells you some nba headlines and such. One of the ones i recieved last night was “Beasley Might be Best, But Bulls may pick Rose at 1”. I think most mock drafts (especially after the lottery) considered how teams would pick and so rose is mocked to be picked by the bulls just because everyone knows what paxson likes out of his draftees. Chad Ford also writes these kind of words in his mock draft, stuff about how he is sure paxson isnt sure yet, but by the way he sounds when he describes the kind of player he wnats to draft, it seems like rose.

Almost every analysist does 2 mocks- one solely on talent, and one on where the player will go...

Rose has consistently been #1 on almost every talent evaluation I’ve seen. (And of course as you point out above he’s been #1 on everything else bc as well).

Ive read alot myself

Beasley was at the top, unanimously i might add, all the way up until the end of the end of ncaa tournament. It was then when some mock drafts began to place him at number one, but there werent alot, i think alot of the bigger names (draft express, chad ford, nbadraft.net) all had beasley up at the one until after the bulls got the lottery pick, and i think it became more unanimous after pax came out and described the kind of player he wnated from teh draft (where he really sort of ended up describing rose). In chad fords mockdraft after the pax interview he said something along the lines that though he would like to put beasley first, with the words coming from the bulls front office it seems more likely that rose is the guy.

I think if beasley and rose had the same persona in the media, and if maybe beasley was from chicago, and rose from washington, i wonder what blogabull would think…
