recently unavailable assistant coaches...
Both the Knicks and the Suns have announced their coaching staffs. D'Antoni took his brother (Dan D'Antoni) and Phil Weber with him from the Suns, while retaining Herb Williams, the Knicks version of our own organizational lemming, Pete Myers. The Suns retained Alvin Gentry while adding Bill Cartwright, Dan Majerle, and Igor Kokoskov.
I guess there are a couple names there that are somewhat interesting in regard to our own assistant coaching search. Specifically Cartwright had recently expressed interest in coming back to be an assistant with the Bulls. But in a general sense this is important because the available candidate pool shrinks by a few names... even though a few of the new hires (certainly D'Antoni, but also probably Weber and Gentry) were likely never really considering the Bulls' positions anyway.

I'll tell you what...
If the Bulls are on the same page I would definitely feel more at ease about the Del Negro hire. (Not that i have anything against VDN) From a positive standpoint maybe Pax is right: maybe it’s time for some new blood in the coaching department.

If thats the case....
What happens to Phil Jackson? Will he retire for good and wander the earth like Kane in KungFu?

I know EXACTLY what he's gonna buy:

Well if Shaw is the next Lakers coach
What about Kurt Rambis?
Wasn’t that the guy Pax interviewed for the head coaching gig?
Did anyone watch Semi-pro...
I would have Del Negro as the “motivator” head coach used to pump up the players and feed their ego. Then i’d hire assistant coaches to actually coach them.
Head Defensive coach = Thibodeau
Head Offensive coach = Shaw
Big Man Coach = Ewing

MAN!!!
That is really a good coaching staff….seriously….but i wonder if the talents would mesh, or would egos collide.

Just watched Vinny D interview on ESPN.com
What I took from it:
- 43 FG% last season…worst in the NBA…I forgot about that. Drafting Rose will help improve our FG %. His penetration to the hoop will help find shooters, and get higher percentage shots. But is there anything else we need to do to improve that weakness?
- He really gave up absolutely nothing about our #1 pick. No surprise.
- Does everyone in the Bulls organization just give textbook answers to everything? Interviews with Pax, or Vinny D, will put anyone to sleep. Maybe if they mixed in some humor, or even insights into the organization, it wouldn’t be such a yawner. But I’m sure the ‘Phil Jackson’ coaching interviews, that are sometimes funny – at least not yawners – are few and far between.
