Sign Arenas?

I know that Arenas is goofy and probably more interested in his blog and saying japanese words than improving his game, but wouldn't he be an upgrade over the streaky Ben Gordon?

I don't know how the salaries would work but imagine this starting lineup.

PG- Rose

SG- Arenas

SF- Deng

PF- Thomas

C- Noah

This is assuming we can resign Deng and maybe we could work out a sign and trade for Arenas.  Thoughts?

I think signing Arenas would mean renouncing rights to Deng and Gordon

I’m not sure it’d be a good thing to have a #1 pick point guard standing around watching Gil do everything either.

Not to mention Gil's always been a PG

Even though he’s a terrible fit for PG, will he relinquish that role?

Yeah, the Bulls could get under the cap

by renouncing all their FAs. That’d also assume Arenas would take the ‘pay cut’ to sign here instead of working out a sign/trade with the Wizards, meaning the Bulls would have to give up even more.

I was liking the idea of dealing for Arenas with Gordon as a centerpiece, but that was before winning the lotto.

That would a bad idea

Although I do believe that Gil’s only chance of ever getting a ring would be with him at SG, I still dont ever see it happening. He plays no deffense and domminates the ball more then he should. I just dont want him, even though I really like him

I don't want to imagine that starting lineup

Arenas is totally overated, he doesn’t play any defense and just jacks up stupid shots. He is the exact type of player that will be on ESPN all the time, make some big shots, get a bunch of endorsement deals but never win anything.

Not an Arenas fan.

He’s so one-dimensional and so annoying. Plus, they’ll sign him in Washington.

Next.

Imagine this lineup

pg. Arenas

sg. Sefolosha

sf. deng

pf. Beasley

C. gooden

Weirdest team ever...

pg Arenas
sg sefolosha
sf deng
pf beasley
c noah

With that mixture of personalities, they’d need their own reality show. Or at least base it in some sort of sitcom. “What kind of hi-jinks will they get into this week??”

if we get Beasely maybe...

but if we get Rose…Gilbert needs the ball in his hands to be effective and that might take away from the development of Rose

I agree 100%!

If the Bulls draft Rose, then it makes no sense to get a player like Gilbert Arenas because both of those players need the ball in their hands to be the most dangerous.

wiz sign and trade

bulls give up kirk, ben, gooden and hughes(they want to resign him before he went to the cavs)

by FUTURE12 on Jun 13, 2008 5:12 PM CDT reply actions

I wouldn't do that if we are drafting Rose.

Not to mention your trade is giving up about (estimated) $40 mil in salary for someone that is going to be making approx $18-20M. Who else would we be getting back in the deal.

If we trade for GA, (assuming we drafted Beasley) then it should be either sign & trade of Ben Gordon with Gooden, and a couple draft picks. Or possibly something like Hughes, Gooden, and draft picks and/or Tyrus Thomas. Again, this is assuming we draft Beasley. I think it would be stupid to draft Rose and bring in GA. Based on everyone’s “qualified” opinions around here, Rose is CP3 or Deron Williams like and needs the ball in his hands. GA is a scoring first guard that is going to have the ball in his hands the last 2 minutes of the game.

No Arenas

I wouldn’t sign Arenas for anything. He’s a ball hog, not a team player, can’t play defense and he wants 18 million a year. Washington played better without him. If I were them, I wouldn’t sign him either.

I agree with every single point you make. Spot on!

Just to reiterate AFI661: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

And no Davis, Brand, O’Neal, Redd, Wade, Marion, Kirlilenko or any other overrated, overpriced, one-dimensional or knee-capped player.

Stay with what we have for one season and re-evaluate then!

Don’t sell your stocks when the market’s low…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i think arenas is to ‘me me me’ to be involved in the Bulls ‘team’ concept. besides i really think he’s done. he looked terrible playin in these playoffs. i think one or maybe both his knees are shot.

as a ESPN analyst?

... watch out Stephen A. Smith..
No! actually I believe Arenas has some good basketball skills.
