Trade: Brad Miller for Kirk Hinrich?

u would get a older Brad Miller but he had a pretty descent yr last yr...he makes 10 mil for the next two yrs so the salaries would match and he would be off the books for the SPECTACULAR FREE AGENT CROP OF 2010(Chris Bosh,Lebron James D Wade etc)...and last but not least he would bring some veteran savvy to a team seriously lacking that aspect....u send Aaron Gray to the D league and have a open competition for the starting center gig between him and Joakim "Sideshow bob" Noah....what do U think?

I think

that we don’t need to worry about the clearing cap space for 2010 thing.

I also think this trade really just shifts the overload from the backcourt to the frontcourt in terms of too many players and not enough minutes.

So yeah, the trade pretty much sucks.

Plus, if Vinny's going to have the team run, Miller would be a terrible fit

BTW, YEP, how many Fanposts have you had deleted for redundancy? Do you really think this one will survive?

Re: A-Grey

Marc Gasol (Pau’s brother) was taken one spot ahead of Grey las year. Now he’s the Spanish League MVP. Damn…

Miller won’t sprint like a gazelle, suffering a he does from White man’s disease, but he’s a good passer, rebounder and can score a little in the post. Plus he’s tough and a good help defender. Just stipulate that he can’t wear his hair in cornrows (scandalous)...

how would he fit if we are now a runnin team!

CHICAGO MANE!!!!

by YEP on Jun 12, 2008 3:56 PM CDT reply actions

Trust me, I see little use for Aaron Gray

He could be useful in certain situations, and paying him the league minimum to play spot minutes isn’t the worst use of a roster spot. The Bulls could use one more C who would probably get more consistent, though still limited, minutes compared to Gray. Ideally, this would be another player who could fit in with a running style and fill in in a greater role if there were an injury to Thomas, Noah, or Gooden.

We dont need another center

We need more swingmen who cant handle the ball…

So Noah can play

the entire game?
We need a back-up center.

i'd prefer to read suggestions

on how we can unload hughes before we unload hinrich.

if we could package hughes and thomas to a team looking to get a little quicker, say the knicks, for some of their baggage like a zach randolph, i think that could be attractive. the bulls would get a little lighter in the backcourt, opening the way for DRose, and provide a little more bulk in the frontcourt. the knicks would rid themselves of randolph, and pick up some cogs for d’antoni to install his offense.

i’m not thrilled with the idea of picking up a potential cancer in randolph with 1 more year on his contract than hughes, but i think randolph with prove to be more productive in this lineup than hughes is capable of being. and randolph can ‘occasionally’ run the floor and/ or fill the low post presence the bulls so desire, which would more than compensate for the loss of thomas and his ‘potential’.

this leaves hinrich on this team for at least another year to either prove himself worthy of his contract, or to at least soften the introduction of Drose into this league.

...chances of a deal happening between knicks and bulls ——> 0%

Drew Gooden is Zach Randolph...

almost Zach is a lil betta…i say we keep Tyrus he will be a fast break machine if we get D rose…Zach doesnt play defense either and is a potential locker room hazard…i’ll pass

If the Bulls draft D Rose

then for the love of everything please don’t include Thomas in deals. If D Rose will play in the NBA like many feel he will, then Thomas is a perfect fit for a D Rose type offense.

Can we three team it?

Get Portland involved so they can get Hinrich or Miller and we can walk away with Joel Pryzbilla. I don’t care how high he tests on their psych tests.

by NBA Observer on Jun 12, 2008 5:57 PM CDT reply actions

how

is pryzbilla an improvement over aaron g?...

by leeac on Jun 12, 2008 7:36 PM CDT up reply actions

lol

It’s not even a contest. I want Przybilla to be our backup center. I think he’s the ideal compliment off the bench to spell minutes for Tyrus and Noah. He runs the floor well. He rebounds better than Tyrus and Noah. He’s not going to provide as solid defense, but he won’t be giving away buckets like Gray. He’s trim, he stays in shape, and he can come set high screens and roll to the rim without barreling over guards in the paint.

On a 1 to 10 scale Pryzbilla is a 6. Aaron Gray is a 2. There may be backup centers to be had in the draft, but getting younger isn’t what we need. We need veterans that have proven themselves at the NBA level.

by NBA Observer on Jun 13, 2008 10:11 AM CDT up reply actions

the NBAO scale, heh

I don’t get your obsession with Przybilla, but completely agree that he’s far better than Aaron Gray. What I don’t get is why it’s such a desire to acquire a backup center. It’d be different if he were a FA.

Good point.

I understand the need to get a backup C better than Gray, especially considering Noah’s slight build (witness the usefulness of Perkins in the Finals as a guy with some heft; Gasol can do some things against Garnett that he can’t against Perkins), but there have to be guys we can pick up in free agency, right? Mediocre-to-average big men are always finding their way to the waiver wire since so many of them are drafted with expecations beyond their abilities; I don’t think we’ll need to trade for one.

[After a little research: P.J. Brown (love it; we should totally pick him up, unless there’s a bidding war); Jamaal Magloire (All-Star talent in FA! heh); Theo Ratliff; Patrick O’Bryant; Mount Mutombo; Chris Mihm; Kwame Brown; DeSagana Diop; Stromile Swift; Adonal Foyle; Lorenzen Wright; Kurt Thomas (a bit undersized, but I’m being inclusive); Francisco Elson; Primoz Brezec; Rasho Nesterovic.]

I like Pryzbilla the Gorilla, but we’ve got options.

by arjoseph on Jun 13, 2008 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Rasho has a player option he'll certainly pick up

though he was a target to deal Nocioni for, in my eyes.

dats cool..

cuz we need a backup center…drew gooden at center or aaron grey runnin wit d rose doesnt excite me that much either…if we are not able to get Brand/J Oneal/or other inside presence that will be a upgrade over Drew Gooden…i say we trade kirk for a veteren C that could either start or backup Noah we have enuff guards we dont need to trade for another one

CHICAGO MANE!!!!

by YEP on Jun 12, 2008 6:04 PM CDT reply actions

if we trade hinrich,

who runs the point on opening day?

who runs the point when (presumably) rose is out of the game?... gordon?... hughes?... sefalosha?... hinrich isn’t the most glamorous pg option out there, but he’s more than adequate (minus some aimless dribbling). his salary is excessive if he’s not the starting pg, but why be so excited to trade him for any veteran C?...

by leeac on Jun 12, 2008 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Word.

That perfectly summarizes what I’ve been thinking for weeks. Thank you.

by smash! on Jun 12, 2008 6:41 PM CDT reply actions

The view from Sacramento

We wouldn’t want this deal, either. Geoff Petrie has already stated that 2010 is a target year, so I doubt that he would want to take on the contract of the point guard that finished #33 in PER for PG’s and #177 overall. Plus the Kings are still thin up front. Miller’s minutes are greatly needed in Sacramento for the time being. The general consensus here is that resigning Beno Udrih and drafting a PG is a more preferable option.

That would be cool if aaron Gray came to the D-league

He would be commin to the Iowa energy and I watch there games. Last year JamesOn Curry and Demitris Nichols came to Iowa a lot

no miller

kirk is worth more than just miller alone. i think if we wanted to get other center, we should do with our 2nd round pick. Devon Hardin should still be on the board or even Dorsey(ben wallace jr.)
