Assistant Coaches

Holdovers May Stay
Bulls assistant coaches Ron Adams, Pete Myers and Mike Wilhelm are all holdovers
from last season's staff. Though it is unclear whether Vinny Del Negro will inherit
the trio, GM John Paxson has promised Myers and Adams they will be part of the
organization if they want to remain.
The name of Bill Cartwright could resurface. Currently an assistant with the New
Jersey Nets, Cartwright reportedly was interested in rejoining the Bulls' staff as an
assistant if Paxson settled on an inexperienced coach. -- Chicago Sun-Times

Star-divide

There has been the rumor that Bob Hill will be the lead assistant.  But are there any good assistants out there that would like to be part of a different team?  I would like the idea of getting a former great big man as an assistant coach so he could help out our big men, Tyrus in particular with their post of moves and defense.  Just like how Kareem Abdul Jabar helped Andrew Bynum out.

I don't know who could be available for this, but I think if the Bulls did something like this it would help Tyrus develop a lot quicker.

Because the Bulls aren't running a reunion

If Pippen wants to coach, then get his ass over from whatever country he is playing ball in and call Jerry for an interview, don’t just expect it to be handed to you. The Bulls need to go after Alvin Gentry in Phoenix, he was aligned with D’Antoni but didn’t follow him to NY, maybe the Bulls can lure him here, guy is a very seasoned NBA coach.

Tex Winter has/had more experience than Phil Jackson...

And he was just fine in the seat behind him.

Scottie Pippen

Remember the 93 94 season Mike left we only had Scottie… everyone at ABC Sports threw their Bulls jerseys out ect. Scottie didnt let that team down he went for 22pts 5.6ass 8.7reb this guy didnt quit on the Chicago Bulls and this guy was a genious on the floor who inspired everyone to play harder, tougher, smarter. He really wants to coach this team and I dont think Pax is even trying to listen. This is sad I mean I know we want top line, experienced coaches but give him a shot atleast as an assistant.

Not to beat a dead horse...

But do you really think Reinsdorf would pay him what he’s worth to jump ship on the Celtics?

Still I'd imagine Thibodeau's got at least a couple million coming his way

“Defensive architect of potential NBA champion” has a nice ring to it on a resume. Although it would be comical to see a potential head coach come to Chicago to assist a guy who’s never coached before.

Thibs...
Can Bulls Pry Thibodeau From Celtics?
The Bulls went with a surprising choice for head coach in first-timer Vinny Del Negro. Will they try to balance that pick by making a big splash with an assistant?
Signs suggest the Bulls may try to pry defensive specialist Tom Thibodeau away from the Celtics. Thibodeau signed a one-year contract when he joined Boston last summer, so he will be a free agent when the NBA Finals are over.

Thibs might get consideration from the Hawks.

I believe their coaching situation is still in limbo.

Woodson's contract is up at the end of the month

We joked about the Bulls entering the season coachless, but Hawks might be in trouble as well. Sounds like some of the owners like him and want to keep him, but given their ownership situation, we could have a nice fight to watch.
