Shaq with the Bulls?
Although completely ridiculous with all the wild trade and draft speculation the thought crossed my mind - trade for Shaq?
I mean consider it for a second. Kerr and Pax are friends. Shaq could be effective in the East with the right coach. The suns love the bulls players.
Trade some sort of combination of Tyrus/Noah/Noce/Thabo/Hughes/Gooden
Draft Rose or Beasley
Rose/Gordon/Deng/Shaq/Thomas or Gooden
Hinrich/Gordon/Deng/Shaq/Beasley

Shaq wasn't effective in the East last year.
Why should he be next year?
I realize you used the qulifier “with the right coach”, but I’m not sure Collins will be any better than Riley.

I'd give up Hughes for Shaq
Since their contracts both have two years left on them. And maybe I’d give up Noce too just to get rid of his contract, though that’s a tougher one since Noce is at least occasionally effective. That’s about it, though. I sure wouldn’t give up Tyrus or Noah or Gooden to get a guy who’s probably done.

I wouldnt
mind giving up Hughes, gordon and a filler for Shaq and maybe Diaw but i dont think Kerr would do that if we wanted Diaw aswell. But i think if in shape,Shaq can average 15/10 for the rest of 2 years on his contract.

Course GM 102 - How to ruin an NBA franchise?
Take Shaq and his 20 mil contract. You get an injury prone, foul prone, slow, poor foul shooter, poor defender who eats up you salary cap. Pluses – he is good for a few jokes.

It's easy to laugh at this one
but honestly, this is a no-brainer from the Bulls perspective.
1. Shaq is $20M, but you’d have to send out $20M in salary to get him. If that’s Hughes and Nocioni, it’s a freaking great deal. because it solves major logjams and clears some cap space in the form of Nocioni’s contract.
2. Situationally, Shaq is good for something, and the Bulls have plenty of other guys to play in other situations. I’d damn sure rather have an old Shaq for 26 minutes a game for 60 games than Hughes playing 30 minutes a game for 80 games.
3. Heh, doesn’t Phoenix actually want Doug Collins? Yep. And doesn’t Doug Collins profess to want Larry Hughes? Yep. There ya go.
4. Step 4, we bring in Jeff Van Gundy to slow things to a crawl and pound the ball in to the fat boy, and we’re all set. OK, I’m mostly kidding about that one.
But still
1- Rose 28, Hinrich 20
2- Hinrich 14, Gordon 34
3- Deng 36, Thabo 12
4- Noah 8, Gooden 30, Thomas 10
5- Shaq 26, Noah 22
(Sorry, still not a Thomas believer)

Who you tryin' to kid?
You can always tell when someone’s trying to cause trouble. They make a minute allocation…and put Tyrus at the bottom.

Shaq makes too much money
I would HATE that trade…..Shaq can be marginally effective, but not nearly worth his $20M price tag for 2 more years.
Avoid Shaq like the plague….if we had him, I might have to take a leave of absence as a Bulls fan….
Old Shaq, sure in a heartbeat, not his modern washed up, grossly overpaid self.
Shaq rarely brings it for more than 40-50 games, and has been nosediving in effectiveness over the past few yrs.
His contract might even be worse than Big Ben’s because he make’s $5.5 and 6M more than Big Ben the next 2 years and really Shaq is only marginally more effective (and Big Ben’s hardly worth half of his contract these days).
If we had Shaq for $7M or so, I’d say slightly overpaid, but worht the investment because of his experience….but no way in hell for $20M….and my trade for Shaq for $7M would be for a few marginal players….

Again...
... the point is you’re trading away just as much salary as you’re getting. Shaq makes $20M, but so do Hughes and Nocioni. Getting Shaq actually frees up cap space in two years.
by Sports2 on Jun 3, 2008 6:27 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Again the point is
Nocioni at this point is a better player than Shaq, who’s infinitely more tradable….
Hughes is off the books in 2 yrs too, and while he might be inconsistent, is actually more skilled at this point than the big lumber….
Shaq only plays about 45-50 games a yr…..he only “brings it” about 25 games a yr…..and he can’t bring it like he used to.
Let Shaq rot in Phx, the Bulls don’t need him.
I like Shaq’s personality and everything, but if I’m trading for a $20M player, give me a Nowitzki…..etc.
I don’t care if I’d have to give up Gordon and Deng and Nocioni and Thomas, Dirk would make us infinitely better….
Shaq won’t help us one bit, except to get ESPN talking about us again….
If we trade it needs to be for a move to step forward, not stay the same or move backwards….

Can't think of a better mentor for Aaron Gray...
and he guarantees championships everytime he gets traded (even if he’s occasionally wrong)...
and Shaq doing ride-alongs in Chicago might help prevent a repeat of the year-of-the-NBA-athlete-hold-up…
Seriously, if there’s an expiring contract/cap space logic behind it, maybe. Other than that, haven’t we had enough experience with trading for formerly dominant big men on their last (and rapidly expiring) legs?
Here's to the most exciting offseason in a VERY long time!

Shaq
Hughes and Nocioni for Shaq and Phoenix’s 15th pick. Maybe we could use that pick plus Tyrus for a lower pick and get a look at DeAndre Jordan.
Shaq – Jordan – Gray
Noah – Gooden
Deng* – Simmons
Gordon* – Thabo
Rose – Hinrich
- Would rather Josh Smith or Igoudala
