Noc says the Bulls are the worst team he had ever played for

I don’t now if he was only talking about the team that ended the last, but Nocioni wasn’t happy the way the team performed this year. And he said in a interview to a newspaper in Argentina that the Bulls were the worst team that he had ever played for...

Despite the guarantees that he’s happy on the Bulls, he wouldn’t mind to be trade and go for… the San Antonio Spurs. I don’t mind trade him plus Gordon for Manu Ginobli. If we could do that, we would get a better player then these two. A player who can decide games…

What are your thoughts about that?????????

p.s. The interview is in Spanish, but I think you could translate that

Well, yeah

Of course the Bulls would want to trade Nocioni and Ben Gordon for Manu Ginobili, but the Spurs are the best franchise in the NBA for a reason. They would reject that trade right away.

by rb22 on May 7, 2008 10:39 AM CDT   0 recs

not much to this

from what I can interpret. He said they didn’t play like a team. He said he’d like to play on a team with better chemistry. Can’t really fault him for that.

2008 or bust.

by bullshooter on May 7, 2008 10:51 AM CDT   0 recs

can't fault him for wanting that either

but do you really need to come out and SAY it? It’s taking a not-so-backhanded swipe at your team. I think EVERYONE on the team wants better chemistry. But you don’t come out and say, ‘i would rather go to (team xyz) because they have better chemistry’. You say “we have good guys in the locker room, and I know that our chemistry will be improved next season.”

Oh well…hopefully the front office will grant his wish.

by NormVanBeer on May 7, 2008 10:58 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My Spanish is a little rough,

but the way I read it, he basically said he’d like to stay with the Bulls, then the reporter specifically asked him about San Antonio and he sort of said who wouldn’t like to play for San Antonio. Noc didn’t bring San Antonio into it himself.

My Bulls may suck, but my Jayhawks are National Champs!

by wjb1492 on May 7, 2008 11:09 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I think the point was

would he like to play with his Argentinian buddies on the spurs.

2008 or bust.

by bullshooter on May 7, 2008 11:42 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

So would anyone in the league

It’s not a slap in the face to the Bulls, all of the players knew they blew chunks. And if we ever got Manu Ginobili for BG and Noce, the Spurs GM would probably be a bigger idiot than Isiah.

I was just responding to the idea that Noc made the Spurs comment as a slam on the Bulls

It’s the same conversation we’ve had here about other player quotes, where if you don’t take the question asked into consideration the quote sounds harsh. (eg, when Kirk said playing with Thabo was nice because he guarded guys his own size, and several people took it as a dig at BG). I didn’t take anything Noc said in the article as a sign that he’s a bad teammate.

We do have a bit of a tendency around here to overanalyze every little thing the guys do and say…

My Bulls may suck, but my Jayhawks are National Champs!

I used the google translator

There is a portion where Noc says in his season closing interview with Paxson that Pax may trade Noc if the right deal is out there. I don’t have a lot of confidence in this translator though.

Yeah, that’s what he says

I understand Spanish and i can guarantee your translator is ok

In fact

That’s why I speculated about the possibility of the bulls take Manu for gordon and Noc

speculation indeed

The Spurs are very methodical in their approach to contracts. Manu for Noc/BG would be a blockbuster deal.

It's good to know the local media

hasn’t managed to interview any player on the Bulls about 07-08, and this the second semi-insightful interview from a foreign media outlet.

by hscs on May 7, 2008 11:23 AM CDT   0 recs

The funny thing is...

When Noc was looking for the money he was willing to talk to Memphis one of the worst teams in the league. Now that he is making big money he is willing to take a trade to a team with “chemistry”.

get used to it

I would hope that most of the roster says the same things about this past season.

Do we all remember that even in the Jackson/Jordan/Pippen days there was still a lot of animosity among players in regards to each other’s contracts not to mention who gets to take shots?

clear shit up

I am a native spanish and english speaker and although everyone has the jist of what he said correctly, the connotation and tone of his words have been completely misinterpreted.

-He says the last years team was the worst he has played on but not because of the players, their personality or skill level, but because of the lack of chemistry. He said ithey have the personnel to reach the conference finals last year but they played bad.

-The reporter asked him if he would like to play for san antonio-he answers anyone would want to play for the best team in the league, highlighting their incredible chemistry and popovich.

-he says that he would be interested in playing there if approached but that he has no problem playing for chicago and he continues to his devotion to the team and that he will defend the team until they fire him. (those last two lines are in argentine slang sort of so the translation is very rough.

-Other things he says: I play the 4 better because of size mismatches and I have trouble keeping up with faster wing players in the league. Nonehteless I dont have problems playing what they ask me to.

-john paxson said he wants me back but if there is an offer that improves the team he cant promise anything.

-He didn’t have the best of years but at least he was happy he played all 82 games without injury.

by Sambossanova on May 7, 2008 11:39 AM CDT   0 recs

I hope you are correct

But there’s nothing on the question or on the answer that refers about the year. The question of the reporter was: You always played in great teams. Is this the worst? (Vos siempre jugaste en muy buenos equipos. ¿Este es el peor?)

We don’t now if he is talking only about the team that ended this season. If you talk Spanish, you now that sometimes peoples say teams (equipos), but are talking about the all club – in this case (I surely hope that this isn’t the case, because he says he likes the organization) the Bulls

BOYLAN IS GONE, NOW IT'S TIME TO GET RID OF HUGHES

by bull83 on May 7, 2008 11:53 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

your right

but he specifically refers to last year when saying that they could have reached the conference finals. He says we never played as a team not we have never played as a team. I dont know if it makes sense on this level, but when I read it in spanish, the answer seems to refer to only last year. Espescially after you read the rest of the comments. This whole noce is a cancer is ridiculous. The guy even acknowledges his weaknesses. Its fine if you dont like him as a player but its not like Duhon where he goes out and parties before practice. He seems like a good teammate and player to have on one’s team.

by Sambossanova on May 7, 2008 11:59 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Noc it's... ok

I already said that I don’t dislike him as player, because he brings a lot of energy… I’m not those guys who say that he is a cancer or that sort of things. In fact, the only guy I want us to get rid of is Hughes, because I think that he is the CANCER… I just didn’t like to read that. That’s all…

The idea of trading him to Spurs was just because we need a guy like Manu, and Noc says that he likes the way Spurs play. The contract of Bowen it’s running, so they will need a 3. Manu is their sixth man, like Gordon is here. So, why not try this trade? They get a 3 and another sixth man, and we get Manu for the starting role at 2

BOYLAN IS GONE, NOW IT'S TIME TO GET RID OF HUGHES

by bull83 on May 7, 2008 12:21 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

The Spurs aren't that dumb

First of all, they’re smart enough not to pay their role players big money, so they wouldn’t want Nocioni’s contract. Secondly, Manu Ginobili is way better than Ben Gordon. I think most people don’t realize how good he is. The Spurs would not even think about doing this trade.

by rb22 on May 7, 2008 12:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

thanks

I had to read it in Spanish (2 years of high school, and repeated screenings of Guillermo del Toro movies) 5 times to figure most of that out.

well

i think that noch had the oppurtunity to sign with the spurs during the off season along with memphis. but he chose to get payed and stay here. and im a big noch fan, i always feel bad wen on the nights this guy gives everything hes got there are some calls the refs wont give him or the way other players treat him, because right from the begining he was known as a dirty tough player. then id say wow noch maybe u should’ve stayed in argentina and win sum more with them, instead of being treated liek this. then my dad points out that he got wat he wanted money wise and u start to feel less sorry for him. plus i think the only reason he would want to go to the spurs is becase his friend manu is there. if only.

but what are ur guys take on the chance for elton brand. do we have a shot?

NBA players talk to eachother about Noc

When I saw Joe Johnson trying to talk down Noc it was obvious the talk around the league is that Noc is dirty. Joe Johnson’s one of the most soft spoken players in the league. He’s no Gary Payton, but Johnson was saying things to Noc in the games against Atlanta.

by NBA Observer on May 7, 2008 1:16 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

What? Huh?

You saw or you heard?

by tyger1147 on May 7, 2008 1:30 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Saw

It’s something I noted in my game logs when we played the Hawks. Any time Nocioni committed a foul Joe Johnson seemed to be migrating to Nocioni and then talking to him. On one occasion Nocioni turned to an official as if to complain about Johnson trying to instigate contact after a whistle. That was in Atlanta.

by NBA Observer on May 7, 2008 2:20 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And from all that you got that NBA players talk about Nocioni

You really are from a different planet. ¡HOLY SHIT!

by tyger1147 on May 7, 2008 3:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I dont know if Nba players talk about him

But it is a fact that noch has the ability to get under peoples skin. You know how they always talk about nocioni being so tough, i think its a matter of habbit. He must have gotten his ass whuped so many times as a kid that he now has like an extra layer of extra thick skin or something. He is definetly a guy you want on you team, because, if hes against you, he will so piss you off.

im trying hard to become the next kirk hinrich, therefore im doing nothing more than being the next chris duhon.

by piccolomair on May 7, 2008 4:06 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

piss you off...

give up a ton of rebounds, then turn the ball over for good measure.

by hscs on May 7, 2008 5:04 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

an example

i will always remember this game in particular. it was aganist the clippers and the officiating towards very very unfair if u ask me. http://youtube.com/watch?v=gFeHo24mFf8

i mean that second scene, foul by tim thomas, how do u justify that that was a blocking foul. he clearly was not going for the ball at all.

Ralph Wiggum, a smarter man than Jim Boylan

by Yibs on May 7, 2008 5:06 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

every Noc foul is unfair (I didn't watch the clip)

You can tell by looking at Nocioni’s post-whistle outstretched arms, and confused/angry facial expression. That’s all Red and Dore needed.

by hscs on May 7, 2008 5:14 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My god

I dont remember this game, but i like the clips….damn noch was getting his but whuped…you think the clippers want to trade for noch, i hear they are in need of piniata…

im trying hard to become the next kirk hinrich, therefore im doing nothing more than being the next chris duhon.

by piccolomair on May 7, 2008 5:43 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

i remember this

but what do you expect from a sex offender, and tim thomas, who is just an asshole?

by Jaina on May 7, 2008 6:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

nocioni

has he regressed, or has everyone become super critical because he has a big contract now. I mean, it seems like he has gone from fan favorite to being disliked so strongly. He was never a great rebounder or anything but he is still an above average role player. His skill at pissing people off though isnt very useful unless you are actually winning or staying close during the games, which was practically never last year.

by Sambossanova on May 7, 2008 6:30 PM CDT   0 recs

Another major factor in the anti-Noc sentiment

was that every time Boylan or Skiles put Noc at the 4 he was perceived as stealing minutes from the far more talented but desperately in need of developmental minutes Tyrus Thomas.

by alec on May 7, 2008 6:48 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

For me it's the contract

I don’t see the need to play role players 8 million a year, especially if it’s a guy like Nocioni, who’s assets are good outside shooting, the ability to piss opponents off, and the fiery Argentinian attitude. Role players are meaningless when the team isn’t playing well, so I’m sure a lot of people will love Noce again next year when the Bulls are back in playoff contention.

Rusty Longley v 2.0

by Ozzie Montana on May 7, 2008 10:07 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Nocioni is worth the money...

... but the problem is that the other decisions Pax has made have killed this team. The corpse over Chandler? Tyrus over LaMarcus? Not trading for KG/Pau/Kobe? Not hiring D’Antoni who was desperate to come to Chicago? And some fans blame Nocioni, are you kidding me?

Noc is a special player, the heart and soul of this team but as Sambossanova very rightly said his “skill at pissing people off though isnt very useful unless you are actually winning or staying close during the games”. Noc brings intangibles and is a big game player (look at his playoffs record and his Argentina experience) but the problem is that the team is not in a position to contend because of the other decisions Pax has made NOT because of Nocioni’s contract.
Can you imagine Nocioni on the Spurs roster? He would be deadly in the playoffs.

The Miami media still mentions Andres Nocioni’s flagrant foul against Dwyane Wade two years ago. So naturally, Luol Deng was asked Monday what it is about Nocioni that frustrates opponents.

“Noc, he doesn’t stop,” Deng said with a smile. “I might push someone one time down the floor and the next time I might not. Noc, he’s going to keep on doing the same thing knowing it’s annoying you the whole game.
