T Mac Trade

Tracy McGrady and the Rockets have been knocked out of the first round again!  McGrady must surely realize by now that it will be easier to win in the east. I don't know T Macs' contract situation and i realize that this is all wishfull thinking: BUT if T Mac demands a trade (fingers crossed) i thing Paxson should make the trade. Bringing him to a good defensive team such as ours with coach Avery Johnson at the helm would make us a pretty tough team to beat! Your thoughts?

He was already on the best defensive team with Yao coming back next year

I don’t think he’s going to want to go anywhere. Plus, he’s making well over $20 mil, so the salaries will be near impossible to match without completely denuding the roster. Even more, Avery Johnson probably won’t be coaching this team next year. If he is, I’ll be joining exult in trashing Paxson every chance I get.

T-Mac jinx

Then we’ll never get out of the first round. Not to mention the guy is so fragile. I can’t ever remember a time when he hasn’t had a nagging injury.

Jinx?

There is no jinx. When you’re playing in a loaded western conference; someones gonna fall. And as far as injuries go: Fragile or not, he’s a superstar who wants to win and he would be the closest thing to a go-to guy the Bulls would have. It damn sure isn’t Ben Gordon! (And i like BG!) Luol Deng, as good as he is, is more of a number 2 guy ala Pippen to Jordan. We’ve got a lot of talented complimentary players but we need a number 1 guy!!

True...

I don’t believe in a jinx either, and certainly the Rockets didn’t lose because of T-Mac. It was kind of sad how TNT and ESPN had to point this out every chance they got.

Deng and Gordon for T-Mac

make it happen. I actually think that’s a fairly realistic offer, though I’m not sure how their contract statuses would make the deal more complicated.

it wouldn't work

McGrady makes 19.6 million next season. BYC’ed Gordon and Deng would have to be paid almost 20 million each next season to match McGrady’s salary.

T-Mac has expressed interest in retirement when his contract expires in 2010. It’s tough to get behind trading anything of value, except draft picks, for T-Mac. I doubt Houston would bite on a 9, Hughes, and Nocioni package, but I wouldn’t want the Bulls to give up much more.

by hscs on May 3, 2008 4:40 PM CDT up reply actions

That deal would be so bad for Houston

that it’s actually funny. I mean not only do Hughes and Noce both suck, but they also have awful contracts. The ninth pick is nice, but outside the top two, this draft really isn’t all that good.

I’d def be willing to part with Gordon, but he’ll probably only sign for about 11 mil a year, so I have no idea how the deal would work. I’d even be willing to do Hughes, Kirk, and Ben, but I’m sure there are a lot of people who wouldn’t be too crazy about that.

like I said, 2 seasons of T-Mac isn't worth a lot

He’ll play in 120-140 games if the Bulls are lucky, and that’s not worth paying for. Not that I think Noc/Hughes/Lottery Pick will get it done, but parting with any more than one of Hinrich/Gordon/Deng/Thomas/Noah is too much.

totally agree

And when you consider snley’s point from above, not only is this a bad deal, but it’s a near-impossible deal financially.

T-Mac contract

Yeah I’m not so sure T-Mac is the answer in this case…I agree, put T-Mac on our team, we’re better of course, but will we be better after we lose what we’d have to give up? Probably not. It’s too bad it’s not a video game and we can turn off injuries, salary cap, and the computer not wanting to make the trade. Duhon for CP3? Do it!

It's doesn't really matter...

I doubt the Rockets would break up the T-Mac/Yao duo. I know I wouldn’t.

by MAN in the BOX on May 4, 2008 10:52 AM CDT reply actions

Untradeable.

Given his injury history and his multiple, perennial hints that he’ll retire, no team will pay full value to acquire T Mac.

Plus, he’s made multiple statements in the past about how he needs more talent around him, to the point where he’s implied that he’ll have little patience with a young or still-developing team.

We don’t even have Krause on the payroll anymore to greet T Mac at the airport with Benny the Bull and confetti.

you’re exactly right.

by MAN in the BOX on May 4, 2008 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

agreed...

I wouldn’t count him coming back (for at least a chance to win a ring) on another team after he “retires” though.

Yeah... Whatever happened to the

supposed “trade for T-Mac” that was going to happen pre-new year-ish time [around December, i think]? Why didnt they get that to work, cuz i remember the rumors going and i got overly excited, only to realize it was impossible for Pax to make a good move for the Bulls.

Finally: The End.
