Administrivia: Don't fanpost like Donny Don't does
UPDATE (10/23/10): FANPOSTS vs. FANSHOTS: The FanShots are for when you have nothing (or next-to-nothing) to say, and just want to pass along information. If you have something to say AND you're quoting the source material, make it a FanPost. Relevance and importance of the topic are not how to determine whether it should be a FanPost or not: only take it down to a FanShot if you aren't adding anything to the link/picture/video etc.

Blogchildren, clearly the lottery win (have you forgotten? the Bulls won the freaking draft lottery) has brought out some new users and a lot more fanposts/fanshots.
There aren't any true guidelines, but I do know a bad fanpost when I see it. So if you want to avoid seeing your work disappear (or at least have an explanation), follow these tenets:
Redundancy bad. If there's already a fanpost on a subject, and unless your thoughts on the matter are so thought-out and interesting that they have to be made separately (this is rare), make a comment under the existing thread, instead of starting a new one.
I used to close comments on the post and give the author the chance to move the content themselves. Lately it's too crowded to do that, so I'm just going to start hiding the offending work. if you see your fanpost is gone, email me if you want the text back.
Link and Quote the sources. It's really really easy with the new system. There's no excuse.
Use the 'recommend' feature. I'm guilty of not doing this myself, but I think we have a robust enough community to where the cream would (literally) rise to the top if we recommended the best fanposts.
Similarly you can recommend (and flag) comments as well. I think they light up and everything.
Avoid going off-topic. If it's a new topic, make a new fanpost or fanshot. Fanshot especially if it's just some link you think we all should see. (also, 'off-topic' should also be completely avoided if that topic isn't the Bulls or NBA-related. Just don't do it: nobody cares about you, or who you are. And by nobody I mean me, the only person that truly matters.)
Any issues, email me. My address can be accessed through my profile. Don't make a comment asking direct questions or voicing displeasure with the site (or a specific user, etc.), email is much better.
FanPosts are user-created posts from the BlogABull community, and are to be treated as the opinions and views of that particular user, not that of the blogger or blog community as a whole.
