[From the fanshots. I guarantee Paxson will say something stupid about this. Is this the first time in his tenure one of his players was arrested had a brush with the law (UPDATE: I forgot PeeOn) ? -ed.]

A friend of mine got a voicemail last night from a friend in Gainesville witnessing JoNo being cuffed and taken out of a bar.

...but it seems getting handcuffed and put in a police car and taken somewhere else is being arrested. But being put in jail is required for “being arrested”???

Noah plays hard, obviously wants to win, and is team oriented. Who cares about a little weed. Seriously, if Beasley had to attend all those schools, and is an immature practical joker, etc, thats a different ball of wax than than weed.

It would be different if the whole world didn’t know that the cops basically ignore the idea that pot is everywhere unless they are in a bad mood, or want to harass someone famous.

Oh, but one positive thing about Gray. That last game of the year, the Aaron Gray game, was magical…because it somehow led to the Bulls winning the lottery !

Funny, considering
1) I felt watching the lottery that the Bulls should cut Gray if the Bobcats won.
2) the Bulls missed out on the #2 pick (Durant) by about a game when they had the Knicks pick last year…the Knicks and Seattle records were a game apart that year

I still think Yao belongs on the list because I think the Chinese gov. (who Yao I think sends money back to) would keep a watchful eye on Yao…plus, the culture Yao grew up with would have strongly frowned on toking.

I’m leaving Wade off the list because that dude takes a lot of punishment (like a football player sometimes), plus the rehabbing. Plus his team sucked last year, major let down after that Finals that was just given to him (freethrow after freethrow).

this is such a stupid, small thing. Fine him, reprimand him, whatever, just don’t suspend him. The guy’s dad is a regge singer. It’s part of the culture. He needs to be smarter about not getting caught, but I hardly think this reflects poorly on his “character.” I just hope Pax doesn’t overreact.

So what does this say about Noah's dedication

to improving over the summer. Tyson is working with a BBall trainer, which is certainly a positive. I guess Noah will report back at about the same weight in October as he left in April. Disappointing.

Who knows about Noah's training regimen

What he does after his workout hours is entirely up to him. Tyrus could be doing lines of blow off a girl’s back NPH style after working with his trainer. No one works out and trains 24 hours a day, the players are allowed to have lives.

Exactly.

Just ‘cause he’s out on the town (his old college town, nonetheless) trying to pick up some babes and have a good time by no means proves that he’s not dedicated to getting better. It’s not like he was popping off guns in a Chicago nightclub. I would think a good majority of these dudes still enjoy partying – keep in mind, lots of these guys are still very young. They’re kids. It’s pretty normal.

I’m not saying that getting caught with an open container and subsequently being charged with possession is a positive thing at all, but it’s certainly not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. Let’s hope Pax feels the same way.

On a side note, Ozzie, that line about Tyrus was pretty hysterical. I lol’d.

From what I read (and I could be wrong), he had an open cup of alcohol.

With very few exceptions (notably NYC, New Orleans and I think Las Vegas), it’s illegal to have an open container of alcohol while walking around on the streets.

This is hilarious

The world is gonna start saying he’s got character issues not because of the pot or alcohol, but also because of the incident he had with Ron Adams earlier in the season.

In no way do I think this kid has issues but the media will use this with the combination of that incident with Adams to say otherwise.

Ozzie Montana hit the nail with the 95% estimate of NBA players having character issues but you have to be able to clarify which issues are bad for your team and which are just a slap on the hand.

I could only hope Paxson isn’t stupid enough to think this makes the Bulls “look bad”.

Fine him and be done with it. He’s already gonna have to enter a league program.

convicted is the operative word. I assume his counsel will plea-bargain away the possession charge. He’ll get a drug diversion program for a 1st offense. Since he will be advised to avoid his dope-smoking buddies, he’ll have to get in the gym. All this over a “beverage” and a joint. I’m more concerned about the cigarette pack, myself.
