Derrick Rose Vids

above is from January vs. Gonzaga.  Skip to the :50 mark to see him with a monster flush in traffic.  He also shows off an ankle-breaking cross-over-->kick out to the shooter.

this is vs. G-Town in December.  He makes a nice floater in traffic and goes  strong to the hole, drawing contact and making the and one.

vs. Cincinnati in December, above, demonstrating his outside J. It's not the prettiest but he heats up and strokes it.  Gotta agree with Calipari on this one.  His shot will only improve, especially with the amount of shoot a rounds you get in the NBA (Kirk Hinrich is obviously one exception to this rule).

Imagine if we could get D. Rose to lay off the candy! His first step might be even quicker!

One final thought:  always remember, we could have the number 9 pick.  We got the number one pick, and we get our choice of two awesome players.  I've seen some good points made for picking Beasley here today.  All I can say is that it's nice to have options!

Feel free to post more vids in here.

he is so strong drawing contact and then muscling up the fadeaways in the paint.

Excellent!

I’ve wanted to see some of his high school highlights. Unbelievable! On one of his blocks, I swear it almost looks like Calipari’s telling the truth about the chin thing.

Thank you Orlando.

It's hard to believe the dude is a PG after watching that

His athleticism is out of this world. Please, please don’t mess this one up, Pax.

What I mean is

Those are probably the most ridiculous dunks I’ve ever seen from a PG, outside of B-Diddy.

when he dunks

the ball goes straight down….amazing!!!

I vote for Thomas to play, play more and play regularly.-Sam Smith

You all already seen this in the mix…just imagine seeing this almost at a daily basis when watching a bulls game…

that vid is even more mind-boggling

when you realize it is the second play in a row where he throws down a monster flush.

he dunked it the previous possession, then came back and made the steal, and threw down the dunk seen here.

The Good, The Bad, The Rose

Now i want the Bulls to draft Rose but these videos, despite being highlights, show us a couple of things to think about.
The Good – I dont know his hand size, but his control of the ball and his touch are amazing. Tear drop combined with the jump step looks impressive. The cross over/dish in the first vid shows his awareness, not just that he made the play, but because he saw the collapsing defender, knew the offense, made the right pass.
The Bad – I feel like I’m gonna cringe on most of his jump shots. Feet too close together, bounces before he shoots/tips the defense, sometimes puts the ball to his chest before he raises up, The Lebron Fade, a lot of those shots were with a defender in his face. Good follow though. And from other videos, his fade away jump shot ( he will need this in the pros ) needs a lot of work.
The Rose – I think we all are pretty sure he is going to be a special player, some say Williams/Paul, some Tony Parker, but these comparisons are just gonna let you down because Rose is Rose. Lets not compare, Lets witness

Good call on the feet

too close – gonna lack balance. You’ll note they’re actually better spaced (by necessity) when he’s pivoting in the lane, pulling up, etc. It’s that “set shot” where they get narrow, and he wastes that split second with the bounce. What’s encouraging is that he hasn’t developed bad upper mechanics – good rotation, hand placement, and the arc isn’t had either. Gonna require a whole lotta work. But he seems liek the kind of dude willing to do it.

Rose

needs to work on his jumper…And he will…Paul had the same problem

by SK23 on May 23, 2008 12:02 AM CDT reply actions

Don't forget Deron, too

Deron shot just 53.5% from the free throw line his freshman year, and now he’s one of the better shooters in basketball. I like how compact Rose’s shot is; to me it looks better than the 71% FT suggests.

Just show Derrick Rose

Clips of Tony Parker. The guy went from scorned to loved because he learned how to shoot.

Rusty Longley v 2.0

Mike Breen lied to me???

No, he has that jumper from the left side that he seems to always hit (hotspots say he shoots 55% from the left side in that 15-20 ft range). He’s not Steve Nash, but at least it’s to the point where defenders have to honor his shot instead of just waiting for him to drive into the lane. I just don’t want Derrick Rose to emulate Jason Kidd’s lack of jump shot.

I get the feeling

he’s going to embarrass so many defenders this year. He is so quick to get past them.

Probably every practice could be made into its own little

highlight reel. (Who could do that for us?)

Imagine Hinrich in Riley’s fave five, getting torched repeatedly as Rose runs by him time after time…and with no James Posey around to backstop him.

Lets win some games first big guy we dont want Iverson.

Totally Selfish but Valid Reason

for wanting to draft Rose: he makes watching the Bulls exciting again.

it will be great to have a point guard

that can also block shots against the backboard.

unreal.
