NormVanBeer 's notes of interest…
-some random Boylan talk-apparently Noah hates the Bulls organization. He feels that the Bulls don’t work as hard as his Florida Gators did (e.g. on road trips he wanted to get extra practice time in but could not find anyone to help him). He didn’t like how the latest issue (with him not starting for the last game) was handled. He plans to be a strong vocal leader next season. He wants to lead the team.
-apparently BG has the best work ethic on the team. He never goes out drinking with the rest of the guys. Even aside from the summer workouts, he is constantly working out any chance he gets and works on his game.
-Kirk and Du are the drinking “buddies” of the team and hit the bars and clubs the hardest (I think most of us already knew this).
-Some McGrady trade speculation (Kirk, BG, & TT for T-Mac)

Actually T-Mac
would be great as a second option player similiar to:
1) Scottie was with MJ,
2) Boozer/AK47 to Deron Williams,
3) David West/Pega to CP3,
4) Manu/Parker to Duncan,
5) Pau/Odom to Kobe,
6) Pierce/Allen to KG,
7) Lewis/Turk to Dwight Howard.
These current playoff teams have 1,2,3 option players. The overrated Pistons I didn’t include, but they do have some good pieces and good young guys growing up in the NBA.
8) / to Lebron (something has to give in Cleveland )
Bulls are in search of first and second option player, whereas Ben Gordon will be a good 3rd option on a better NBA team.
The problem with McGrady, is acquiring him, and where would we find a a better than McGrady first option?
I also see Dirk with loads of talent, but would be better suited as a 2nd option player.
Cuban, probably will screw up the Mavs, but Kidd was a bad move. Mavs needed to obtain a first option PF, SG or Center to pair with Dirk. While Brandon Bass is servicable, they will now find themselves looking for a PG. Eric Dampier is Aaron Gray with a better contact.
Cleveland has
Lebron and Ben Wallace!! hahaha…suckers!!
I vote for Thomas to play, play more and play regularly.-Sam Smith
what do you mean suckers?
Between them, this dynamic duo averages over 34 points a game. Can the Bulls top that?

Sounds to me
like Noah is just having a hard time adjusting to the NBA. I do think Boylan was wrong on the last benching. I hope that is part of the reason he was fired.
I think the camel's back was broken by the time that particular piece of straw was added

I think what Noah had a hard time adjusting to
was the batch of lazy, indifferent players going through the motions he had to deal with everyday in practice and sit on the bench and watch during games.

that irks me also
not as much that he’s late in itself, but that he’s trying to take this leader torch and can’t wait to tell others he wants to…yet still can’t get to work on time.

All that may be true, but even so,
it’s still my guess that when Paxson lines up all the players he’d be willing to let go this off season, Noah is last in line.

If Paxson really believes all the character talk he spouts
Noah is probably much higher up that list than any of us would like to know. Between his aforementioned chronic tardiness and willingness to speak his mind, he’s not exactly the type of company line man that Paxson would prefer. Noah’s probably more likely than any other player on this team to create “distractions.” I don’t think Noah’s going anywhere anytime soon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his Bulls’ tenure is much shorter than I’d prefer.

depends what he believes is 'character'
in the first place. I’d say tardiness isn’t good, but caring about winning (and better yet, playing like it) is. Just showing up for work and not getting arrested isn’t the same as ‘good character’, really

I think some of that "character" that he likes is just "don't rock the boat"
It seems he wants “professionals” who show up on time, do their work, and go home.

As long as they don't wear cornrows or headbands and know how to not get caught during the job.
I don’t think he’d really care if they were killers.

All without talking, at least beyond the party line...
That’s how we ended up with a locker room of quiet guys, with no one to step into the void of silence after Skiles left, isn’t it?
My Bulls may suck, but my Jayhawks are National Champs!
magic new coach juice should ignite everyone's leadership torch
I’d be more comfortable opening my mouth with some regular rotation entitlement minutes, and a coach who is all grown up anyway.
Noah was not
an innocent victim in all that went on. He may think that some of his teammates are lazy and indifferent but most of them showed up on time for practice and team events.
I am a Noah fan,
but until he becomes a 3/4s of a Chandler/Camby type, he is going to be hard pressed finding people to listen to him on any team.
He is 3/4 of a Chandler
All he’s missing is the foul trouble.

On this team
He’s light years ahead. If I was going to line up the players on this team in terms of their leadership ability, it’d be something like Noah, Gordon and Duhon that are the team captains.
It’s instructive that, leaving aside Noah, the rookie, the other two guys actually wanted to be captains of the team and were “voted down”.
Unless you
know them personally or have played with them you don’t know what kind of leadership ability they have. There is probably a reason they weren’t voted captains.
Heh
That seems an obvious fallacy. Obviously there’s a lot of information out there that gives you an idea of what kind of leadership a person might offer. Quotes and non-quotes by them and about them, watching their demeanor on the court, watching the way they interact with other players, etc. There’s a huge amount of info out there to inform you.
And my whole point is that there was a reason they weren’t voted captains. Very often a vote says as much about the guys doing the voting as about the guys who are being voted on.
