Missed the game tonight to see "No Country for Old Men
It reminded me of watching a Bulls game. The film ended abruptly with nothing resolved, leaving the audience feeling empty and dissastified (except for the buttercorn).
Since I draw most of my Bulls sustinance by watching Tyrus Thomas highlight reruns on youtube and dreaming what could have been, tonight's victory seems like a rerun of another of Jim Boylan's formula farces. We all know the script, play as many guards as possible, keep Tyrus and Noah pinned to the bench and always have a hair-raising helter-skelter finish using similar plot lines that make no sense to anyone except the loony director who is deluded into thinking he has created another masterpiece because management continues to let thim grind out these stinking turds. One in a row...One in a row! Let's award Boylan a Golden Finger Award.
Here are some 4th quarter stats from the 2 recent games where the Bulls blew 20+ point leads in recent reverse order-New Orleans, 76r's.-
Nocioni 0 minutes 6:12 (-8)
Tabo 2.30 (-10) 8:35 (-18)
Gray 0 0
Tyrus 0 3:07 (-3)
Gordon 12 (-20) 3:02 +1
Noah 10:20 (-17) 0
Deng 12 (-20) 12 (-20)
Hughes 10:20 (-17) 6:23 (-13)
Kirk 1:38 ( -3) 11:41 (-22)
Gooden 10:07 (-13) 8:32 (-14)
In the Washington fiasco, Deng played the entire 2nd half, racking up a (-24) while Larry Hughes was (-32) in 18:32 minutes. Can we conclude that Leol needs some rest time as the game regresses and our small ball combinations are pathetic at best? Tyrus sat out the final 34 minutes of the Wizard game and Gray is not even an afterthought. Suggestions anyone?

the Coens apologize
100 % agree with your movie review

It's a lot more fulfilling
I agree
It made the movie overrated to me.
Without Bardem the movie really would have been a huge disappointment.
Still, I'm a Coen brothers fan, and I have to say this is one of the worst "best picture" picks I've ever seen. A decent movie, 3 out of 4 stars, with some very solid acting....but nothing close to a normal best picture at least for me.
I like the comparison to the Bulls though.....that movie had all the hype and fanfare and then let me down big time.
I guess the difference though is that movie had one superstar actor (Javier Bardem--not a superstar in stars terms, but his acting skills were superstar worthy)....the Bulls ain't got that....
Listen, hscs,
No Country
I know Ethan well and the first time we went to the premier, he was like, "What did you think?"
I replied with, "I don't know"
He said, "Perfect"
I thought the movie was brilliant
Seriously?
Or is this one of those wink-wink deals you see on Blogabull sometimes, like that guy who said Kirk Hinrich was all full of himself at a bar one time, or that guy who had an asinine exchange with Duhon over making change for the CTA?
I'll tell you how exactly
- I used to work at Amoeba records here in LA. One of my coworkers and best friends till this day is Tiffany Anders.
- Tiffany's mom is a well known film director Allison Anders.
- The Anders family knows a ton of people. I can't explain to you how many celebs I've met and now close with through them,
- Tiffany used to housesit his house for him in Santa Monica when he would go make shoot films.
- We hit it off well cause Ethan and Joel are hella cool guys. So that's how I know them.
- I kinda hit the jackpot working at Amoeba. It allowed me to become friends with some of the coolest people in music and films

God I love Amoeba Records
I miss record stores....in the midwest....
My faves in Milwaukee (where I went to college) are all but gone.
There are still a few in Chicago (Reckless Records, and one on Belmont--Can't remember the name because that one opened up after I moved away from there, but I still visit it on occasion)....
But man, shopping for music over the internet just ain't the same....
Cool story about the Coen's etc. I envy you.....
Best Chicago Record Store

where is that?
I used to shop around Chicago quite a bit and was always surprised that I found more finds in Milwaukee (and per capita Milwaukee seemed to have many more record stores)...
Its on

Hmmm
If they hired me, I could live in the same city the Bulls play in!?
YES!
Now if I can just convince my girl . .
What about Rock Records
I always pass that place, with its semi-famous celebrity mural, and wonder what the deal is with it.
Ok.

Keep in mind that No Country
McCarthy, a virtuouso of elegant prose, is also unrelentingly bleak in his conception of humanity. To put it bluntly, most of his books (All The Pretty Horses, Blood Meridian, The Road, No Country For Old Men) embody the notion that good is either too inept or too impotent to prevail over evil. Within that ideological framework, the ending might make more sense.
Not surprisingly, McCarthy's cosmology applies perfectly to the Bulls. Boylan is either too inept or too incompetent to prevail over the other teams in the NBA.
i did the excat same thing

Bardem would be lucky to get a bit part in a
Because he is very focused and driven, has ice in his viens, doesn't panic under pressure and almost always hits hit shots. Not a Boylan type of guy.
