Bulls Season Ticket Holders Abused
The morning following the Bulls' epic collapse to the Sixers, I open my mailbox and find an envelope from the Bulls. It contains an invoice for the first two rounds of playoff tickets and a notice of a regular season price increase for the the 08-09 season. Your choices are to buy the playoff tickets or cancel next season's tickets. Is this a joke?! Playoff tickets and a price increase?! This team makes me sick.

i don't think
True, correlation between the team's success and cost of ticket don't equate (the Cubs have been raising prices for years) but come on! Raising prices after last season was understandable, even expected. But I doubt anyone saw this coming.
I'm not even a season ticket holder and I'm offended.

I know, I know.
We aren't even going to make the playoffs, in all likelihood, so the money will just end up being a deposit on next year's tickets. The franchise can make a profit off of the interest float on my money. Nice.

I don't think those are your only options...
1) buy playoff tickets and automatically have your unused $ (so all of it) go towards tickets for next year
2)Not buy playoff tickets and wait until later in the summer to pay for next year's tickets
3) Buy playoff tickets but notify them you're not renewing next year, therefore they will send you a refund of your money after the bulls don't go to the playoffs, rather than automatically put that $ towards next years tickets

I don't know if Option 2 is available.
But I don't think you can decline the playoff tickets altogether and still renew your season tickets.

I guess I'll find out!

You might be right, Smash.
Before I even entertain the thought of not paying for (illusory) playoff tickets, I want some written assurance from the organization that I won't forfeit my seats.

Blogging is great, but....
Mass defections of season ticket holders WILL send a message to the Chairman and General Manager.
This is great news. Every season ticket holder than doesn't renew puts Paxson's job in jeopardy - or at least lights a fire under him - so he has no choice but to fire that worthless P.O.S. Boylan.

I don't think there's enough disatisfaction
I won't tell people what to do with their money, but I wouldn't call out anyone as a 'fairweather' fan if they ditched their tickets as well.
I will only warn them that not going to the games means you have to listen to the telecast.

The Bulls are a great organization...
All that being said, I don't know if we're going to purchase tickets again next year because I can't sell mine for anything at this point; It's the wrong time to put a flailing product on the floor. Had they got Gasol, they may have entered luxury tax, but they also would have secured aot of renewals. I think the harsh realization this summer is going to be No All-Star Moves = No Renewals.
