Uh-oh: trouble a brewin' as Hughes gets adjusted

This quote from Larry worries me a lot:

"I'm trying to work my way in slowly offensively [because] we are in a playoff run and I have a lot of time to assert myself in doing what I do best, which is score," Hughes said. "Right now I'm just trying to get used to the guys, get used to situations and just play. I'm being aggressive but not being overly aggressive like I will be later on."
I hope to GOD that by "aggressive" he means driving to the hoop, but he could actually be planning on just taking a greater number of jump shots at a 40% clip.  Something tells me that he's thinking the latter, which is trouble.

If Thabo was still the quivering, turnover-prone disaster he was earlier in the season, I would acquiesce to Hughes being the third guard in the Bulls' rotation.  But Thabo is freaking awesome (busted groin and all, heh) and still cheap for another year.  Either Larry keeps good on his promise to slash and continues to share the ball or he needs to leave this summer.

That Larry Hughes mistakenly thinks
that the best thing he does is score kind of sums up his whole career.  But, I guess his scoring did help get him paid so sadly chalk one up for Dave Berri.

It's getting really hard to tell
what the hell is going on.  It was fairly easy to see that the bulls were showcasing BW as the season went on and read between the lines with Boylan's comments.  But now Boylan is basically calling himself out and this quote from Hughes is mind blowing.  There is a lot of smoke getting blown up a lot of holes right now.

I agree with your Thabo statement
Yeah sefolosha is really good, I remember earlier this season where he would get two minutes at the end of the game. I would always see him and Adrain Griffin on the bench. He is doing really good now. Look him up on Youtube, he is like a star in switzerland

That quote is freakin' hilarious
Someone should point out to ol' Larry that you aren't suppose to strive to be "overly" aggressive.
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

the thing about hughes
is he has proven he can both share the ball and score.  other than when he scored 22.7 for the remaining 32 games of the season when he was traded to golden state in the 99-00 season, his career high scoring average (22ppg) occurred in 04-05 during his time with the wizards, and it was coupled with his career high in assists (4.7apg).

as it is, in his 11 games with us, both of those numbers are higher than anything he ever had in cle (except his first year there where he avged .2 more ppg).

not that i'm expecting him to play like he did that year (where he also had career highs in rebounds and steals, especially since i don't want to give him the 38 min it took him for those averages), but he has shown he can do both, so as long as he doesn't get overly ball-hoggy, and can show us some flashes of washington larry, we'll be making better use of him than the cavs ever did.

though the quote is pretty silly.

also
just wanted to add that even while defending him i'm definitely not toting hughes as a savior or anything like that.  but he could be valuable to an extent as long as he's used the right way.

plus, i much prefer watching him than watching wallace (who shot an astounding 0.373 for a CENTER on the bulls this year) miss dunks or try to shoot fadeaways on the inevitable possessions during the game where he for some reason decides that he must take control of the offense.

Hughes is like everyone on this team...
...as Matt said shortly after the trade, "What a bunch of above-average players they have." (or something) Above-average means they have flaws. Play those players too much and the bad can start to outweigh the good.

If the Bulls had a competent coach, I'd have no doubt that this team could be, as constructed, the third-best team in the East.

good point as well
i just wanted to point out that his best scoring season was indeed accompanied by his highest assist average.

and that's a big "if" right there.  hopefully we will all get our wish for a new coach.  watching them now is getting painful.

There, play him at his position you get your #'s
4 steals, 2-3 from the arc, slashed, you guys don't think the Bulls took on a 15 mil dollar player a year through 2010 for 6 weeks and is going to trade him this summer?  WHEW?   They took the gamble and are going to play him, so you better get used to it and learn that you have to have some talent around you and you have to let a player play his position, not the point which Cleveland made him do when they could not land one.   Now look what Cleveland is doing with their acquisitions, all their numbers are down, everything surrounds one player, which won't win you a title (we all remember it took Jordan, Pippen and even Rodman to get it done).  Your a few years away, lets get to .500 first before your rip each player on one nights play.  Get a Coach, get some better talent, but Hughes is here to stay for two years.
