"Freakin' World Famous" Nuggets + Bulls Depth Chart

Hilarious take on last night's wild pickup game from the other side. Seems to be based on the "lack of respect" attitude mentioned by Coach Karl. I guess I always take glee in other teams' miseries, but that was an enjoyable read (especially at 5am!), right up there with Golden State of Mind's recap of Duhon's 34-point game.

This depth chart looks so good to me right now. I love all the backups where they're at (and the Rainmaker off the bench). I really don't see Larry Hughes anywhere else other than in the 11th man spot. Our 12th man's name is Viktor Khryapa (bring him back Pax!)

PG Kirk Hinrich          Chris Duhon
SG Thabo Sefolosha   Ben Gordon
SF  Luol Deng            Andres Nocioni
PF  Tyrus Thomas       Drew Gooden
C   Joakim Noah         Aaron Gray

Minutes and team chemistry are related
If this season teaches us anything we should know minutes are important.  Not knowing if you are playing can ruin a team's chemistry.  Team chemistry isn't just about players getting along but each player perceiving and making a contribution toward the team winning.  This requires the minutes are shared correctly.  Skiles was able to do this the first two years.  It didn't work this year.

Your point about where Hughes and Gooden fit-in is well-taken.  Noc may be the backup for TT.  Where does this leave Gooden?  The backup to Kirk may be Hughes.  Can Hughes contribute as a back-up?  This leads me to the possibility of giving up 2-3 good players to get a star.  Giving up 2-3 good players for one star frees up minutes.  The critical issue is does the star fit with what appears may already be a really good team.  You can mess-up this team again bringing in the wrong player.  Paxson has a real challenge in front of him.

Who knows...
but I think going from a starter (Duhon) to not even playing, probably rattles a lot of guys.  I think they should just suck it up, play their heart out, and remember whether they play or not they're still getting paid to sit on the bench and are more fortunate then the rest :)  That is why Aaron Gray is most of the time my favorite player, especially when the bulls suck, because he sucks it up and smiles. Ha (and yes, I realize he is awkward and a big goonie, but that's ok)
And the starting line up for your world champion Chicago Bulls. . .

Here's where it gets interesting
Both Gooden and Hughes think they're starting.

And he wants to play
35-40 minutes not less!He is our 29 years old
"veteran" now.
I have never thought that will hate this word so much!

Maybe the Bulls can start a policy
of thinning the herd. The oldest guy gets beat down as soon as he steps out of line.
"Duhon, don't make that garbage-time jumper... Save it for the next game!"

Given his injury history
I wouldn't wanna play him more than 30 a night.  If he proves to be useful.

I like Thabo and Tyrus,
but I think it's mostly because I feel like I know them.  I could accept and get used to anybody starting--as long as they show they're the best players at the positions.  I want it to be like LA (let's see, should we start Kobe or Coby?) and not like Milwaukee (hmmm, Yi or Villanueva?--let's toss a coin).

by eGirl on Feb 23, 2008 11:23 AM CST up reply actions

Exactly why if it's a coin toss
between Tyrus and Gooden, or Thabo and Hughes, it a no-brainer! An irony of the NBA (and most sport?) is that (8 year veterans don't get better, they just get more money.

But I doubt Boylan sits these guys, so we're back to square one. And I wonder how many chances to fail (and learn) fans and bloggers would give my fave players.

why not have Hughes as backup PG
Duhon shouldn't see the court anymore. Man it sucks they didn't find a way to send him packing...

According to Jim...
Boylan said players have to earn their starting spots off the bench, right?  Hopefully, it's not just an injury rule

Hughes at SG
That's I'm thinking, too.

I really liked how the starting lineup performed last nite and think they deserve a chance to see if we have something. There has been so much shuffling of the lineup this year which really doesn't help anyone develop or find their place.

I also believe we have a pretty decent second unit so why not try to play them as such like the Lakers do.
Starters       2nd unit
PG - Kirk      Hughes
SG - Thabo     BG    (His defensive deficiences should be masked)
SF - Noc       Deng (Needs to get back in shape to earn starting spot)
PF - TT        Gooden, TT
C  - NOah      Noah, Noah, TT

See where this leaves Duh, Matt? ;) BURIED

Rain on my parade
I thought we had two for a second.  Damn.
Interest Level = Wins - Losses + 2*Tyrus Time + 1.5*(Thabo + Noah Time) - .4*Bricked layups + 3*Red Kerr Candies
