Ben Wallace out for Heat game

From the tribune:

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/fullcourtpress/2008/02/shorthanded-aga.html

Condolences to Ben for his loss.  On the flip side, this should(emphasis on should) insure that Tyrus and Joakim get a ton of burn, which is always a good thing.

Also, Thabo sat out of practice with a sore groin, probably from all of the BaB'ers who have been hanging on it in the last month.  J/K.

With Shaq gone and Blount in
This is as good a game as any for Wallace to miss.  I don't think he would fare well against the new Heat team with Marion and Blount that ran pretty well with the Lakers for much of the game this past weekend.  Noah seems like a natural for this game, plus time to get TT off the bench is a good thing.

Don't Get Your Hopes Up
Boylan could always roll out a Smith, Noc, Griff frontcourt.

by mruntouchable on Feb 13, 2008 4:27 PM CST reply actions

Have no doubt...
Boylan will honor his pledge not to play Tyrus.

We'll see a whole lot of the three guard lineup featuring Duhon, Kirk, and Thabo. Smith/Noce at the four. Noah at the five.

That third guard lineup
Actually would work, im not sure if you were being sarcastic but its better than past 3 guard lineups since thabo can (or at least looks like he can) play the 3.
im trying hard to become the next kirk hinrich, therefore im doing nothing more than being the next chris duhon.

I wasn't joking.
Boylan seems fond of the three guard lineup with Thabo.

One time, he even used Griffin in that three guard alignment.

Griffen is good for laughs
I love it when he comes into games, all wide eyed, and then his slow motion begins. i think a few times he was able to get a shot off because his defender was moving WAY too fast. in fact i think thats why adrain goes to the line, hes just to slow for the defenders to keep up with.

I would like the three guard lineup, if the third guard was gordon. Hinrich and duhon are wayyy to similar to be put in a game at the same time. I cant wait for deng to come back, if i remember right he was a good defender, having him and thabo should make things a hella lot easier for our defense. Plus having two athletic slashers and at the same time a big power forward is ideal. I mean here is the line up id like after allstar break:

Hinrich
Thabo
Deng
Wallace
Noah

huh? i put wallace there? yes, yes i did. I think as a power forward hes much more evenly matched, and given more room to roam as he likes. Aaron gray is a good player, but i rather see him come in off the bench for this line up

Hinrich
Gordon
Deng
Thomas
Gray

Huh? Hinrich again? Well i like hinrich and expect duhon to be traded...okay but really the focus is on Gordon thomas and gray. Gray and thomas should really negate each others shortcomings, Gray could just clog the middle and get the rebounds in his vicinity, thomas can use his athleticism and get the rebounds away from gray. Offensively gray can post and draw the double, and thomas can either get an open lane or put back a missed aaron gray shot. For ben gordon things get easier knowing that those two will nab his rare missed shots, or set strong screens, not to mention having thomas gives you the ability to throw an alleyoop whenever the hell you want.

Okay sorry i went into a rant...im not sure what led to it. Apologies 1958ChiTown.

Exactly.
Having 3 guards out there at the same time isn't that bad.

However, when those 3 guys are 6'3 and under, it's god awful.  When it's Thabo playing the 3, it's fine as long as the SF is a good matchup for him.

Somewhere a puppy dies...
for every minute less than 25 that Tyrus doesn't play.

Actually
I think Bullish clubs a harbor seal for every minute under 25 that TT doesn't play.  But I can't say I blame him at this point.

not really
joe smith is just slowing down and even though TT is still a matchup, might as well find out what the matchups are.  Hopefully he surprises.

like your thabo
comment, i think i have been a little guilty of that...
i am going to this game and i am very excited that wallace wont be playing, although a death in the family is always tough
i hope tyrus has some dazzling dunks, its one of the biggest things i miss this year (i will never forget the one he had last year at home against the celtics, it was an inbounds play and he took off from outside the lane.  havent seen a bulls player dunk like that since jordan)

Beat me to it...
I know it's wishful thinking, but is there a chance we get Thabo, Joakim, and Tyrus all in the starting lineup???  Or is it going to be Griff, Smith, and Gray?

Anyone else find it strangely normal
in this Bulls season that Ty could go from GS game stud to two games barely off the bench to starting?  Or that Joakim tends to get off the bench before Ty, but Ty gets a start before Jo?  I mean, I just want minutes for both of them, but it's sort of symptomatic of the illogicalness of the season.
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

That is the whole ridiculous point of this
they'd been trading off who's the first big off the bench and all, but there's no rhyme or reason as to who gets picked.  noah has a couple good stints, and then he gets DNPs.  same for tyrus.  it just makes no sense.  and maybe it would make more if i knew more about practices, but not having a steady rotation is really killer and it shows what a moron boylan is and how much the team is in flux.  we need someone to right the ship.
