Magic 113, Bulls 94: post-game reactionary angry thread
I've been angry for a while, but I can see why each next game makes more and more turn against this whole thing.

More Aaron Gray starting. Less Joakim Noah starting.
I mean, they’re winning, and Gray is hardly playing anyway, right? So it’s not like Gray starting is hurting anything.

he's really close to being a starting center
Dwight Howard has Patrick Ewing as a coach, Aaron Gray could see such dividends if he got special attention like that. (though Ewing only pays special attention to the cheerleaders…)

Gray had 2 fouls because of Howard before there were 3 minutes gone in the game.
And the game was over after the 1st quarter. Hell, during the first quarter.

Gray losing it
All the team guard want him on the floor as he is “the wall” for them.
He directs everybody on defense.
But he can’t seem to keep his sense of humor with the refs.
He gets the foul for the elbow delivered to his face!
Hang in there Gray, as we don’t have other than the flailing, jumping everywhere-getting nowhere Noah!

Calm down fans
This is the NBA where teams get blown out by better teams about 10 times a season. The Bulls have had it happen to them by Cleveland, Boston, Portland, and the Magic. So at 14-18 with the 2nd easy part of their schedule coming up I’d say they have competed fine so far.
As every media head in Chicago has said all that matters this season is Rose’s development. Tonight he had another ugly night….. the 4th in about 10 games. Has he hit the wall? I would say no because he has put in games like ATL and NJ in between Miami and Orlando. The
The last thing to think about is whether or not any of the players John Paxson wants to ship ( the whole roster) are playing well enough to bring something back to the Bulls in a trade this season. Hopefully, Kirk get’s back by Jan 20 so he can leave by Feb 10th.
In closing, don’t get too upset over a real bad loss ( Miami worse than tonight) or too excited over a great win ( Utah at home).

I enjoy watching games
I enjoy watcing the Bulls but know when to live and die with the team. 89- 98 every game really mattered because they were in a Championship window. The 06 and 07 teams mattered because if they would have gotten a star they would have been a Champion contender. This year only matters for watching a playes development and showcasing others. ( my opinion)

I don't know if Paxson knew who he was taking, though.
If all Del Negro accomplishes in his two years in Chicago is that he convinced Paxson to draft Derrick Rose, I’ll consider it a semi-successful hire.

His supporting cast of coaches is really excellent however
and should be able to help develop Rose properly. VDN hasn’t found his style completely yet, but seems pretty solid for the given situation. This team sucks because Pax messed it all up. He should have let Eddie Curry risk death on the UC court, as well as taking Aldridge. Both those seemed like no-brainers to me at the time and I knew Pax was making grave mistakes. I couldn’t understand the Tyrus pick at all and am sad to see we were all right. In fairness, TT could’ve been worse and could develop into a solid PF if properly coached.
We all need to give VDN a full season and then we can burn him at the stake (so to speak). That’s the way it will most likely play out too, but if we trade everyone but Rose….although I admit Gordon is actually impressing me this year.

I knew the game was over when:
1) Gray got a technical from the bench…what a moron. Just like Matt said a week ago…“dude, you’re Aaron Gray.”
2) When Vinny dusted off the Skiles notebook that he found before the game and turned to the page that said “In case of emergency (aka – the players come out after halftime and absolutely STINK) employ a four-player rotation”.

Really Bad
Sums up this team at the moment and what the future looks like even with Derrick. Paxson has to get over the “crush” he has on everyone he has drafted. I understand that most of his choices were hard working college kids with upsides, but now these kids are men who can’t get it done on the next level. If the plan this year is D rose’s development then you should trade everyone getting in the way of that or not working to that goal. Give him some guys he can play with, don’t force him to play with guys that don’t fit with what he does best.
In denfense of Paxson he didn’t think the NBA would gift him the number 1 pick last June but they did, now he needs to realize it’s time to scrap what he had planned before and move forward. Fire Vinny, Hire Avery Johnson asap!!!! Ship out the dead weight from the Baby Bulls Era and the trash that came from the Ben Wallace trade.
It’s embarrasing to keep trotting the biggest laughfest lienup in the NBA, I live in California and Clipper Fans are laughing at me!!!

Why in the world would Noah think Gordon was going to pass to him?
That was like a pregame shootaround about 100 years ago. I’d just drained a j, and my best friend was rebounding. I knew he wouldn’t pass it back like he should, so I was flirting with the cheerleaders; WHACKO, right in the nuts! It was the only time Pete had ever given up the ball :-)

you need to look at the play again
when Ben jumped in the air and let the ball go, Noah was turned to the side, halfway looking in his direction. In other words, Noah wasn’t entirely turned around while Ben still had the ball. The ball was already out of Ben’s hands (the pass had already been made) when he turned around

This is the third coach in a year that seems to be losing the players!
Which leads me to believe it’s more the players than the coach.
But I don’t fully believe that either…
Gah! Can we go back in time and sign D’antoni? At least he had the guts to just sit(/ban) Marbury.
Who’s out there that we could use? I still think JVG. At least we will get some defense. And it’s not like we have an offense at the moment, other than everyone try to go one-on.one and see what happens.

not surprising...
… that Hughes, Noah and Tyrus were fined. they all strike me as idiots. this team has more than its fair share of knuckleheads and is just generally built to lose. you have to blame pax for that. people here like to bash VDN but Red Auerbach could not coach this collection of losers to a winning record. we have a month and a half left to see what Pax can do. if the team on the floor last night is the same team playing on February 20, then pax should be fired on the spot.

Did you see why they got the fine?
“The fines, presumed nominal to remind players who’s in charge, stemmed from the Bulls’ road victory Monday in New Jersey, when Del Negro reminded players of a rule in the team handbook prohibiting pregame eating in the locker room.”
Three players who were on the team last year broke this rule and claimed not to have known about it. I’ll presume that’s a rule VDN brought in, which is retarded and reeks of the headband rule that screwed up the locker room last year.

Hats off to Vinnie for showing up Hughes as well as the two whipping boys. That’s twice now that he’s set the minimum standard for professionals on this team. That’s a manager’s job: set standards and hold the team to them. Eat before you come to work is not an odd rule. There can always be mitigating circumstances, but since there were three of them, I’m assuming it was pretty blatant disrespect.

This from BG via Sam Smith
“We dug ourselves a hole from the very beginning of the game,” agreed Gordon. “It seemed like we weren’t in it early in the game and it carried on throughout the game. I think we can play a lot better than we are playing right now. I think we have to find out our strengths on the floor and what we each do well but I’m not going to sit here and make excuses. I wasn’t ready. My teammates weren’t ready. It’s inexcusable.”
Well, if it’s inexcusable, give some of the money back. How many times have we heard this refrain. Hey, don’t take the money.

I meant Gordon
if Hinrich gets traded I’ll throw up a going away party post for the Hinrich fans who aren’t Bulls fans. I’m still guessing it’s unlikely to happen.

"Im still guessing its unlikely to happen"
I think more so you dont want to jinx it, you probably have that going away party post already made, just needing to be published…either way i think its pretty hard to figure out whats gonna happen to this roster. It would be funny if they both got traded away…

What I meant was
We’ve heard this refrain from ALL of the Bulls’ players this year… and last. Not just BG. So if a Bulls’ player shows up for a game and isn’t ready, they should give some of the money back—especially if it’s inexcusable…like Luol Deng says just about every time he has a bad game.
My comment wasn’t about BG, it was about the Bulls’ players in general and the lame comments they make time after time after a game.

I remember when Jim Harbaugh promised to donate all his pay
until the Bears won a game. I would not hold my breath to see something similar from the Bulls.
And we know JR is NOT going to be refunding ticket holders for games where the Bulls stink.

I'm not holding my breath either
but that is my first reaction whenever I hear this refrain, yet again from a Bull’s player in the post game comments. It is getting old. Along with the phrase “hopefully.”

I dunno though sometimes I think they just give an answer without really thinking. Cause sounds like he phrased it wrong.

I'd say, "I wasn't ready" is a pretty unique and honest quote.

Beyond Comprehension
Its pretty well-established that VDN does not have an offensive system and does not know how to utilize the talents (however limited they may be) of the players he has. All the same, I wonder why he just can’t make certain things happen.
1. Defending the screen-roll: Why do the Bulls always switch on those side court screen rolls that end up gettting our guards matched against stronger small forwards? They just automatically switch everything down there leading to a mismatch, the inevitable dig by the perimeter defender too early, followed by the kickout and open jumper. Every team that plays us has usually had the non-screened player showing hard so that Rose has to veer backwards before angling back towards the rim. Why can’t we do that?
2. D. Rose initiates all plays. One of the things that was great about the NJ game was the fact that Rose controlled virtually every possession (before the 4th when BG tried to take the ball out of his hands for a two minute stretch). I hate it when he brings the ball up the court along the sideline, flips it to BG or Noc at the top of the key and stands there. He needs to initiate everything all of the time and if the other players can’t deal with that, they shouldn’t be out there.
3. TT. I still can’t figure out why VDN cannot insist that he either (i) dive more after he sets the screen or (ii) employe an offensive scheme that has him roaming the baseline for a portion of the game so that we can take advantage of his athleticism when Rose drives and dishes or when he’s doubled and passes out of it.
Can’t wait for the Cleveland game.

Yeah those get me all the time
The screen and rolls I never understand and Rose seems to like to get his teammates in their own rhythm.
They said Vinny did urge him to be more aggressive sometime last week but I think he might be reluctant to do so because hes a rookie. Not sure if the previous talents that were leading candidates of rookie of the year hit the wall though.

The difference in muscle mass was
pretty noticeable. Everyone on Orlando looked ripped. The Bulls however looked scrawny and weak. Ok well not Ben Gordon he looked short.

i only saw the 1st quarter... did the fans boo em' like the toranto game last year?
because this sounds like a game that deserved a good booing. maybe it’ll wake em up, even though i really doubt it.

They booed a couple of times
The loudest boo I heard was when Ben turned it over after he bounced the ball off his foot.

was Noah's game really that good?
i missed the game, but his stats were eye-popping (for his standards)..was he as good as the stats suggested or was it mostly garbage time?
At least Larry Hughes isn't overrated

Garbage time,
which started approx. 5 minutes into the first quarter.
"You remember the first time you picked up a basketball video game and you had no idea how to run plays, so you just gave the ball to your shooter and you ran around the court aimlessly until a defender was far enough away and then you jacked up a shot? THAT IS LARRY HUGHES!"
