Since the purpose of this blog is to share information, I'd like to mention that I work under the assumption every basketball player at any level wants more playing time. So I see no reason to run up to guys who get their court time cut hoping they'll say something controversial. If you disagree, feel free to send a note.
McGraw, with a shot at the other beat guys? Like it!

I think KC is even feeling a little guilty about something:
Saturday marked the second time in just over five weeks Hughes chose to go public with his frustration. It should be made clear Hughes merely answered questions both times, and his belief he should be a high-minute man was delivered in a tone more matter-of-fact than malicious.
In fact, newspaper space being at the premium it is, two lines from Hughes’ answers got trimmed: “I understand other guys need more shots. I’ve done that role.” In other words, fire away, Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose. Hughes just wants more playing time.
From today’s trib.
I don’t think it’s common practice to come back a day after you write a fairly damning column about a player, and write another column trying to let him off the hook a little. Seems like maybe Hughes wasn’t being as disruptive as we thought.

"Two lines got trimmed"
Bullshit. He didn’t put that in the story because it wouldn’t have been as controversial.
Why resort to name calling?

I'm guessing whatever is leaked out, Hughes is even worse behind the scenes.
He’s is out of touch when it comes to his ability.
Nice catch on the KC backtracking though.

Yea, maybe that came out wrong.
I have no question Hughes is a nightmare as a teammate. When I said “maybe Hughes wasn’t being as disruptive..”, I meant for this specific case only.

I like these comments from McGraw
It’s too bad he has to write them down. These are unwritten mores of just about any activity from humans.

I really like McGraw...
I realized how solid his reporting was this summer when his pre-draft coverage was so much better than anything in the major chicago papers.
As for KC, he was on Chicago Tribune Live last week, before he quoted Larry for a second time, and Sam Smith brought up the first time KC quoted Larry about his lack of playing time; KC got all excited and geeked out on how he LOVES getting controversial quotes from athletes and even said something to the effect of he hopes it happens again so he has something to write about. At that moment, I thought it was a bit unprofessional, if not amusing. Sam looked at him like he was crazy.
Gotta hate the media
But heres the best part of that KC “backtracking” article
If Hughes is trying to force his way out of town, he’s going about it the wrong way and is probably just forcing himself out of the rotation.
Hopefully there is some truth in that. If you can’t trade’m bench’m
Somebody likes Larry Hughes? O:
I mean hes ok and has been for stretches but any ill advised shot is pretty disruptive though he has limited them from years past.
Larry Hughes the person or Larry Hughes the basketball player?
He’s a great guy. I’m probably taking Fat Albert in my 5 before Hughes though.
