Wikipedia says:

“In 2008, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the arena, it was announced that The Palace would be raising banners to the ceiling for musical acts that have had multiple sold-out shows at venues owned by Palace Sports & Entertainment. Bon Jovi was the first to get a banner in February followed by Neil Diamond in July.”

getting down big early on road = disaster

We’ve had so much luck with the Bears these last few days. Maybe it’s not in the cards for the Bullies tonight.

by wilsoneads on Dec 23, 2008 7:18 PM CST reply actions

He's still got a lot in him

He’s just in the wrong system. A system that involves practice.

"He's not scared to take that shot," Rose said. "That's Larry. No matter what, I don't need to remind him to shoot. He's willing to shoot any time."

by Evil Pax on Dec 23, 2008 7:21 PM CST up reply actions

Why is Rose not utilized correctly?

Should we just put the ball in this guy’s hands, let him drive, score or kick it out? I prefer that over any weird plays set up for Nocioni

by wilsoneads on Dec 23, 2008 7:19 PM CST reply actions

Hopefully Derrick

will realize he can shoot right over A.I. every time

Bulls are making the Pistons look

like a ‘7 seconds or less’ squad

I’m back in Chicago for the holidays. This is the only time I’ll ever be able to watch the game in HD (otherwise I have to watch it on 10fps internet) and they’re looking like they’re going to get blown out. All I want is a competitive game.

Stacy King is a bad color guy.

He just spent a minute talking about how Noah has to “pick his poison” between cutting off Iverson as he gets around Rose or staying with Rasheed Wallace at the 3pt line. Noah played that perfectly and King made it sound like he needed to do better by "closing out under control towards Wallace.

HE FUCKING PLAYED IT PERFECTLY!!!

That play was on Rose for letting Iverson get around him. Fuck. I wish owners and GM’s of this city were smarter. Then the announcers would be smarter. Then the fans would be smarter.

Shit.

…Iverson and Stuckey off the boards. Since, you know, those were the only two in the realm of the basketball.

How come no one looks like they’re having fun in the NBA? Everybody always looks depressed. Even after a good shot or play. Why is that? Aren’t they all millionaires living their childhood dreams?

This is garbage...

This bullshit small ball crap just offends me. Noce SHOULD NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY FUCKING CIRCUMSTANCE be a center. When you trot out five guys under 6-8, you deserve to get your ass kicked. I don’t care about match-ups, it’s a GIMMICK. You throw a bunch of 1-3’s out there and you just can’t board no matter how hard you work.

And the refs calling bullshit on Rose isn’t helpng either. The pistons are not a good team and we’re getting obliterated b/c our coach hasn’t prepared our team mentally AND he puts out the most ridiculous lineups in the entire league. Deng is terrible to, I have finally come to that conclusion. He looks like a fucking robot out there. Play Thabo at the 3 instead. Rose-BG-Thabo-Tyrus-Noah=a NORMAL line-up with your BEST players! So let’s see it in the second half some!

Fuck VDN! What a moron! Why do we suck so bad? Let all of this non-Rose time make us even more thankful we lucked out and got him. If we don’t luck out, THIS is the team we have to watch all year. And THIS is disgusting.

Fouling in the NBA is a joke

When something is literally completely up to the ref and they can let a foul go one second and call it the next, you have a serious problem with your league. And if someone can lean into someone and a foul is called without that person leaning in or making any contact with their hands…then your league is a sham.

agreed

this game was winnable. but the bulls are horrible on the road. I think it will be different in the united center

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 23, 2008 9:28 PM CST up reply actions

I thought so

And if Rose and Ben had some more time to play then I think we would of had an even better shot. Detroit has been playing pretty up and down. And AI doesn’t really help set the tone for them. I actually thought that AI going out would of let Stuckey get off more and run their offense more efficiently.

Why does somoen have a career night everytime they play the Bulls?

Augustin in Charlotte, Camby at home, now Stuckey? Is it just bad luck or is our defense that bad? I’m guessing a litte bit of both, but mostly our horrific defense.

At least this is...

three straight good games for TT (not counting the one he left early). He looks active out there and is the only frontcourt force we have right now. He deserves 35 minutes a game EVERY NIGHT, REGARDLESS OF MATCH-UPS.

I’m not going to make a big deal out of that three—-but wow, that was pretty. What if he develops three point range? Seriously?

You absolutely do not trade this guy right now. Get rid of Noah instead.

by Option27 on Dec 23, 2008 9:38 PM CST up reply actions

don't trade either

the bulls have enough trade pieces with Gooden, Noce, Hinrich and Hughes. They don’t need to throw in one of the young bigs unless they can get an all-star in return.

loss by 4 points.

Better than I expected, with Larry, BG, Noce an TT coming up big…

But damn! Stuckey went off really big too and this is the nth time DRose has been outplayed by less fancied players (Augustin was the worst of DRose’s nightmares).

Hope the officials get REAL nice presents from the Pistons.

by Granny Waiters on Dec 23, 2008 9:40 PM CST reply actions

I don't mean to get back on this, but I gotta say it.

Deng has been looking pretty average….again. No factor when the game matters. He does some little things like keep a big offensive rebound alive, but thats only a part of what we need from him.

Too often i’ve come in here and seen people kick Nocioni, Thomas, and Gordon around (even Kirk) when they don’t play well. Looks like people are finally calling Deng out. That’s all I’ve ever asked people to do. To watch this guy and see how much of a non-factor he is at times. There is NO reason a guy with Deng’s size and skill should EVER be a non factor.

Everybody has bad games….and I do mean EVERYBODY. But Deng is having too many of these non-descript games for us to be depending on him. Time to wake up Loul.

Was there mud on the court?

The 1st quarter looked like they were playing the snowstorms outside. Horrible defensive effort, no rebounds at the worst moments (how Noce didn’t rebound that ball after Maxiell missed the dunk……).

Yay for Tyrus and BG having good games, Rose was alright in his limited time, AI just abused his superstar treatment with the refs tonight, I can’t imagine how frustrated Derrick was. Deng was invisible on offense, Noah was worthless……..oh no wait, I’m too negative, it’s a good thing to watch this team fall flat on their face everytime they try and reach a win loss record they are perfectly capable of achieving!

I thought Ben was pretty limited too

AI tripped and they called a foul on him.
We really could of got this game if Rose and Ben played more. We played horrible on D but I don’t think the Pistons really deserved it that much more. Also we might as well have tried to have ridden Rose at least 3 more minutes in the 3rd when we were on the 8/9-0 run not sure why so many coaches are afraid to do so.

by Camry on Dec 23, 2008 9:53 PM CST up reply actions

Vinny is a dipshit for not using Rose all of the 3rd quarter

They had the Pistons on their heels, Rose could have scored on every possession just attacking Iverson who was just waiting to get out of the building. Let him foul out, at least that shows a commitment to winning the game instead of “saving” him for when the Bulls were again down by 14 and they need to make the score look respectable.

What happened to fundamentals like “boxing out” on rebounds. I can’t tell you how many times I see Bulls players just standing there with defenders walking by them to grab rebounds.

As far as Deng, the guy is such a non-factor and looks clueless out there. It looks like he gives no effort.

Why did the Bulls hire VDN. The guys has no offensive or defensive gameplan. The Bulls look like a team of scrubs playing pickup at the YMCA.

by Bulldonger on Dec 23, 2008 9:47 PM CST reply actions

And why doesn't this fucking team talk to each other on the court?

This has been going on for years now. Pippen mentioned this in the 1st game of the 2005 playoffs, how these guys never communicate defensively. Hunter got blindsided by a Wallace pick, his teammates don’t notice that and tell him to get out of the way? That’s like basic pick up basketball. Sheeeesh, Festivus cannot come any sooner.

Festivus, that’s great…saw that episode of Seinfeld today.

No help defense at all. So many wide open cuts and drives to the basket today. I actually miss Skiles because at least he had a structured gameplan. VDN is a joke.

And Noah…completely worthless. This guylooks like he doesn’t belong in the NBA. I didn’t see many of his games at Florida sometimes he looks like this is the first time he picked up basketball. Just bad…

by Bulldonger on Dec 23, 2008 9:58 PM CST reply actions

well, this next stretch of games should be pretty depressing

next up are the @ the Heat (probable loss with Wade playing at an MVP level), then the @ Hawks (loss), @ New Jersey (Bulls beat them, but in NJ I expect them to win), home vs. Magic (loss), and @ Cleveland (almost certainly a loss). They are 13-15 and have a very good chance to lose their next 5 games to put them at 13-20. Talk about a bummer. At least Tyrus is playing well.
