Another Trade Idea (Jermaine O'Neal)

Bored at work...so, I was thinking of another way of getting some help down low without giving up any of the few key parts of our "core".  I don't know if Toronto would do this but just to get some talk going figure I would put it out there and see what you guys think.  Here is my idea....

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=615~1711~356&teams=4~28~28&te=&cash=

For the Bulls, they get the lost post Center that would help offensively and defensively.  If they can somehow keep Noah, he could serve as insurance in case O'Neal goes down due to injury.  Now, since O'Neal has a large expiring contract this could free up money for the Bulls.  I don't know if the Bulls would like this since it gives the BG camp some leverage upon negotiations.  This might kill some of the 2010 plans unless Noc & Kirk can be moved.  I woudl try and get some contracts which expire before 2010 summer so we still have that option.   The Bulls can decide if O'Neal is worth anything as a free agent and go from there.  Maybe a short 2 yr deal could work for both sides.

2008 Rotation:

Rose/Hunter

BG/Thabo

Deng/Thabo

Thomas/Noah

ONeal/Gray/Noah

For Toronto:

This trade doesn't kill any 2010 hopes of resigning Bosh and prevents them from spending any of the expiring contract of O'Neal on anything other than Bosh.  Larry Hughes contract expires just in time for Bosh to get paid.  I'm  not convinced Toronto would do this but I've already written so figure to give it a go!!

Enjoy...

I'd start with Hughes+Noc (and also Aaron Gray: starting center)

but if Toronto’s really giving up on ONeal it’s worth exploring. He’s a great defender and can step out and shoot.

yeah

i tried to get Noc involved but that damn contract stands in the way… I just don’t see Toronto taking on that contract

I vote for Thomas to play, play more and play regularly.-Sam Smith

They have a ton of space in 2010

So they might take it, definitely wouldnt prohibit them from resigning Bosh and staying under the cap. If they think Noc is good that is. His suckiness might not help.

Not sure they would do it with Jo-No

My first ever post on bloga bull.
Love the trade because:

  • helps our rebounding and interior defense if JO stays healthy. (Lord knows we need it)
  • Helps our overall lineups with better matchups at all positions
  • helps Raps because they are struggling to score.
  • gets rid of Hughes and forces VDN to play Thabo.
  • helps with cap space for 2010.

Not sure if Raps do it unless Noah or Tyrus is involved. If JO has a player option for next year, he won’t come off the books until 2010. That will hinder are chances of signing BG.
Unless:

  • we trade Hinrich and Cedric Simmons to the Lakers for Odom. Works in the trade machine, and the Lakers are going to need to PG help with Farmer going down.

*Rose/Hunter (PG)

*BG/Thabo (SG)

*Deng/Noc (SF)

*Odom/Thomas (PF)

In the past three seasons

O’Neal missed approximately 84 games.

We don’t need him.

"He's not scared to take that shot," Rose said. "That's Larry. No matter what, I don't need to remind him to shoot. He's willing to shoot any time."

if he goes down

we have Noah/Gray….right back where we started
