Gooden: "I was shooting too many jump shots"
Power forward Drew Gooden is also on a hot streak, averaging 19.4 points and 10.6 rebounds while shooting 53 percent over the last five games.
"Coach is calling my number, as far as putting in a couple plays for me," Gooden said Monday. "I felt like I was shooting too many jump shots, yet they were going in. I wanted to get back to what I'm known for, which is getting jump hooks down in the paint and easy baskets like that. I think I can still put two halves together and play even better."
======================================
Drew, I definitely agree with you! You WERE shooting too many jump shots. This is encouraging to hear. The coaching staff seems like they are making adjustments, and good adjustments at that. Get Drew down low and let him work. He's our best low post option, so use it.

Scary thought:
We’ve all been treating Gooden like he’s an expiring contract. Management, having not seen a scoring big man for a few years now, may be contemplating ::gulp:: re-signing him, at the expense of BG.
Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."
it's a legitimate question
Do you resign Gooden or Gordon? Bulls have no other real consistent threat for front court scoring.

BG>Gooden
No discussion. You could net more than Gooden in a trade for Gordon too.

Actually it is a discussion
if Gordon insists on 15mm annually and Gooden only wants 7.
Gordon may insist all he likes,
but the reason it’s not a discussion is that nobody is going to give that kind of money to him.

that's speculation on both counts
you stink.

ugh, I'm an ass
you said ‘if’. Still, it’s a pretty flimsy premise.

I don't think it's that flimsy
Gordon is playing great this year, on both ends. He is starting now. He’s outplaying Hinrich and his 5/47.5. He’s clearly outplaying Deng, who just got 6/71. This will be the first year he can logically make an argument for 15mm. He wouldn’t deserve it, but based on the other contracts on this team he could honestly believe it.
he always had that case
the problem, as always, is that the Bulls payed handsomely for pretty average (Hinrich) to bad (Noc) players. It sucks that it even comes to an either/or situation with Gordon and Gooden because of it….if they wanted to keep both in the first place. But the Bulls are masters of saying they want to do something and then fucking it up, so I’m certain they’ll say they wanted to keep both, but will take Gooden because he costs less.

I still dont think hinrichs contract is "overpayment"
But yea, it still does suck that the team has so many bad contracts if i were to order bad contracts it would sort of be like this
Hughes
Deng
Noch
Gooden
Kirk
I guess you could switch hinrich and gooden but ultimately its those top 3 that have the worst contract. Im overly dissapointed in deng, and i think he is doing far worse with his new contract than hinrich was when he got his money….I think the gordon should get paid (always have) more than kirk, but less than what deng got, not because deng is better than him, but because im getting tired of this overpaying players cycle.
Also i would love to get my hands on joe johnson in two years, you think other teams may be thinking that as well and may not pay gordon as much money despite how well he is playing this year.
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, Bullshooter, and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light....
yeah at the time it wasn't
but now it looks bad.

Hinrich had a whole season

Dengs bad games look ugly
At the least you could say hinrich did a good job of executing offenses and could set up some of the players, what has deng done for us lately other than chucking up worse shots than hughes. So far hughes has played better than deng, and i dont think at any point last season was hinrich worse than hughes last season. Ultimately deng production comes strictly from scoring and his rebounding, both which he hasnt done all that well thus far in this season, and if rose wasnt on this team, i think we would feel dengs suckiness a lot more than we are now. Last year we had no rose, and gordon wasnt playing with a mission, nor was deng, so hinrich had to do more than he was capable of and thus sucked (though really after the break he started getting back into his old self but he had done enough damage to his stats during the first half that he barely recovered, and we had a dumbass coach with wierd rotations), deng should have it easier on him, with rose, gooden, and gordon playing real well with each other, deng just has to play alongside them, slash more to the rim, and stop the one on one playing. He isnt, and he is sucking. Thus his contract is the second worst on this team
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, Bullshooter, and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light....
Well...
I’m not saying I disagree….
But I really think the thing that makes Deng so bad right now, is that he isn’t playing well with Rose….
I’m hoping one of our veteran assistant coaches drives that into his head and he gets better as the season progresses.
I really hope he plays well next year, so that he is either a valuable sign and trade chip, or a long term solution at the three.
The offense last year?
If that’s his indicator, he’s even worse.
Gordon, Deng and Ben Wallace all played worse last year. Aren’t pG’s supposed to make their teams better.
Hinrich did a bad job executing offense.
Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!
Sign and trade them both...
preferably for a better big man or a bigger (but skills wise roughly equal) Shooting Guard…
good luck.

WTF?
Bulls: “Yo, other team, we want a better player than the one we have and even though you already have said player, we want you to overpay for ours, and then we’ll take your better player off your hands for you since you just overpaid for our worse player.”
Other team: “WTF?”
Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!
Hopefully
we can ship out some other contracts so we can sign both. Gooden may not be the all-star post player lots of people think we need, but if we pair him with a defensively minded center, he could certainly be a piece on a contender.
I agree
he can’t be the top big man on a team because he only plays one way. But he’s certainly been better than I thought he’d be on offense, especially if he actually believes this ‘not so many jumpers’ talk.
Drew Gooden’s fine, he should play a lot. My whining about Tyrus and Noah have little to do with him.

Agreed.
If we keep Gooden, I’m not opposed, as long as he isn’t our frontcourt star like he is now. I wouldn’t mind him playing next to Kaman, or coming of the bench behind Bosh…
i wouldn't be opposed
to re-signing Gooden, but definitely not at the expense of BG. They’re both having good contract seasons. But Ben is more valuable IMO. This is the reason why Kirk and Noc need to be moved.
Really don't care if yall get mad at this, but...
Right now:
Gooden > TT AND Noah
"That’s the reason why you are on the court—to take someone’s heart." - Air Force One
We need to keep both players.
Part of the reason that Gooden is playing so well is because teams are afraid Rose and Gordon. Teams send two guys at them and that leaves Gooden with some room to work. If you lose Gordon, Gooden becomes less effective because teams are worried about Hughes and Hinrich because they get on hot streaks once a month. Gordon meanwhile can get hot at anytime.

I say
Gordon+Boozer
=)
And then Bosh in 2010
Our starting line-up:
Rose
Gordon
Deng
Boozer
Bosh

Drew Gooden for player/coach!

Boozer's going to Miami....
when he opts out this summer…maybe we could get Beasley for some combination of Go-o/r-den for Beasley and Mark Blount’s contract…
It's pretty clear (already)
that Beasley is a 3 more than a four. He’s going nowhere IMO.
