Back when we traded Aldridge for Tyrus, everyone was excited because of his incredible athleticism, and comparisons to Amare Stoudemire. The question I have is why the Bulls don't involve Tyrus in the pick and roll that often, especially since we have somebody by the name of Derrick Rose.
Stoudemire has worked on his post up game and has become a dynamic scorer, but he used to and still does get an easy dunk or short layup/jumper from a Steve Nash pass inside the lane after setting a pick on Nash's guy. My main questions are if Tyrus and Rose are capable of doing a Nash-Stoudemire-esque thing and if so why haven't they been trying to do it. I know Tyrus is a good shooter, but I would much rather see him taking the ball towards the basket, then settling for jumpers. The pick and roll is an easy way for him to do that. What I think makes Tyrus perfect for the pick and roll with Rose is that he is pretty quick, and he can jump out of the gym. Rose could set him up with an easy alley-oop or a good bounce pass for a Tyrus facing the basket. Tyrus would then use his ridiculous hops to dunk it, or get a high percentage shot, (preferably the thing where he jumps high and does some what of a mini hook shot off the backboard).
This post is dedicated to Tyrus's 25.6 field goal percentage.
