Bulls need to start every posession with Rose setting up the play

haha yeah really

Ty drops an easy pass from Rose in transition for a dunk and then he comes back down on the defensive end and blows a screen and roll, allowing the sixers to drain a wide open three.

This team frustrates the hell out of me. I just got done watching the Portland game, and they play great basketball. They hustle on D and their offense is FLUID. FLUID, Vinny, FLUID. God.

AGAIN, other than Gooden we get NOTHING upfront!!!

Until our frontcourt decides to compete on a nightly basis, we will continue to get drummed into the ground.

Also, looks like there is yet ANOTHER SF I’d rather have than Deng…and his name is Thaddeus Young (at least to this point anyway).

Guys like boozer and co who are going to be up to sign new deals will certainly be in that range not in dengs 12 mill area.

I agree

Luol is too young and has already shown too much to just give up on him. It’s funny because I would have said he was one of the most consistent guys before. He’d get somewhere from 17-22 every game it seemed like. Plus everything I’ve read about him says he’s willing to put in the work. I just can’t imagine him not improving.

by BoxingHideout on Nov 30, 2008 5:19 PM CST up reply actions

What has Luol shown that...

…Danny Granger hasn’t? And PLEASE don’t mention the 2006 first round playoffs against the Miami Heat. That was basically 3 seasons ago!!!

Last year on this forum, I compiled a list of 15 small forwards who were better than Deng. So far in the early part of this season, there are 2 more you can add to that list. The aforementioned Danny Granger and the up and coming Thaddeus Young.

by lexdiamonds0730 on Nov 30, 2008 6:43 PM CST up reply actions

IN DEFENSE OF LUOL DENG....

…I must say that I think that Skiles and his staff did a terrible job on player development. It’s just not Deng who hasn’t progressed. Thomas, Hinrich, and to a lesser extent Ben Gordon…all key players for us. But of the three, Deng should be the furthest along but he seems to have almost regressed. I’m just glad that Derrick Rose is in town…and i’m beggining to feel like maybe we should keep Gooden around after this season and move Thomas and some other pieces and try to obtain a REAL center!!!

by lexdiamonds0730 on Nov 30, 2008 6:46 PM CST up reply actions

by illini23 on Nov 30, 2008 5:19 PM CST up reply actions

I’d figure it’s not as easy as everyone thinks.

We do have Derrick Rose.

We also have Pax…

Things could be worse. We could have kept (name redacted).

by stupidgenius on Nov 30, 2008 6:29 PM CST up reply actions

What's quite amazing

it could have been 4-3 or 5-2.

My take is that LH is learning how to play with Rose and TT is learning how to do what he does best.

by hlac on Nov 30, 2008 6:39 PM CST up reply actions

Bulls looked like a legit squad tonight

Rose put up his usual numbers, but also showed improvements on the defensive end.

Someone must have pulled Gordon aside for a chat because he seemed much more willing to defer to Rose. Gordon, in turn, benefited.

Noah is starting to work himself into the rotation.

Gooden continued his solid play.

Besides another no-show from Deng and another inconsistent game from TT, the Bulls looked like a real basketball team.

Oh, and Evans didn’t violate any of our players.

by drew gooden's facial growth on Nov 30, 2008 6:32 PM CST reply actions

Noah, Deng, T2...

the Bulls still have a lot of room for growth. All they have to do is play as well as they’ve done in the past, and we’ll be pretty solid.

We've been hanging around on the play of Rose alone

On a night when two-thirds of our team show up, we blow out a middling ball club.

If all of our guys show up … who knows?

by drew gooden's facial growth on Nov 30, 2008 10:08 PM CST up reply actions

What a win

Philly is struggling, but still feels great to beat a team that at least looks better “on paper.”

Rose continues to impress. His defense was good, and he’s really showing growth in the half-court game, feeling more comfortable with the high screen and roll with Gooden.

I loved how Gordon played off Rose tonight. If he’s going to keep deferring to him, letting Rose set him up for easier shots this backcourt could be really deadly offensively. And how about BG holding his own against Iguodola on defense?

I think one thing is clear: Hinrich is no longer needed.

Now that it appears Marion is on the block, I’d like to see if we could work something out with the Heat.

This is a great way for the bulls to kick start there homestand

The Bulls went 3-4 on their circus trip, almost tying the amount of wins they’ve won on this trip for the past 10 seasons. Definitely a positive. :]
