Why not Camby?

His Contract expires in 2 years, and he has no place in the clipps rotation with Randolph.  A package of Noc and noah?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=3224~2456~125&teams=12~12~4&te=&cash=

Maybe throw in Sefolosha if we have to.  Since we are content playing hughes at the 3, we will have more then enough players to fill in for Noc's time on the court.  And noc has been playing well with rose, so his value may be up.  His contract also is downwardly trended.

This trade helps us because camby is that C we need (although not offensively minded, he is not inept like noah).  He and gooden would make for a surprisingly formidaly front court.

Thoughts?

I feel the same way

Camby would be perfect because of his contract and the fact that he can defend the post and rebound. He would also give us a veteran big to mentor Tyrus and Noah. Getting rid of the Noce contract always helps. Rec.

we would have to lose noah (or tyrus but i think the clipps would want noah more, as tyrus is thorton redux)

We wish.

Thomas is nearly 4 years younger than Thornton and still had a better rookie season than Thornton

Tyrus is already the better player (and no, that does not say much) with a greater upside

Thornton got on the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

I dunno, if Thomas is better than him, you’d think he would play a bit more. Development of the rooks and all that.
If he is, our coaches are a lot dumber than they look [except for (name redacted), who looked that way].

Thornton played 2158 min to 966 min for Tyrus his rookie year

But if you look at Advanced and Per 36 stats, Thomas comes out the clear winner. I think this says a lot more about how overrated Thornton is than anything about how good Thomas is or will be.

um...

who cares about Tyrus’s rookie season? Has he improved since then? Without even looking at his per-36 numbers, i’m betting they’ve actually gotten worse. Thornton, meanwhile, is currently improved in almost every facet of the game compared to last season and is starting to put up pretty consistent numbers. He is clearly better than Thomas at this point.

At least Larry Hughes isn't overrated

Thomas has regressed since his rookie year, especially this year

At the same time, he’s 4 years younger than Thornton and Thornton’s no better than a league average player. As bad as Tyrus has been at points this year, I’d still rather take the chance on him.

The pointwas that Thornton isn't that good.

And he’s four years older than Thomas.. which means: not much upside.

I have thought about this as well

I dont know exactally what the best package would be to bring him in but I would like it, depending on what we send out. I think it would make us better this season, but more importantly it would be a soon to expire contract.

What about this...

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=245630281252171&teams=2912412&te=&cash=

I know Memphis is looking for a shooter, and they had interest in the past,(not that they would still have that same level of interest) he couls hit 3’s and get minutes at the 4. Darkos contract ends at the same time as Cambys, he wouldnt expect as many minutes, and they get a young tall SG(after losing Mobley) who can defend. His contract also ends at the same time as Camby, so as far as he money goes, they dont take on anything extra.

by TruEChiFaN... on Nov 27, 2008 4:50 PM CST reply actions

yeah, imo, the clipps would rather have Noce and noah.

by sillyrussian on Nov 27, 2008 9:12 PM CST up reply actions

We can get Camby straight up for Hinrich

All you Gordon lovers/Hinrich Haters should love that. Camby makes sense for us now, this year and next. We get rid of the last 2 years of Hinrichs deal. Camby probably retires by 2010. I already have this deal waiting in Sam Smiths mailbox.

Thabo and Noah are cheap contracts thru 2010-2011, they are valuable as cheap bodies and they still have some upside. We already know what Hinrich, Gordon, Nocioni, and Deng are going to be, not championship material.

by BigWay on Nov 28, 2008 3:26 AM CST reply actions

Trade Machine says

Nocioni for Camby works straight up also, maybe not value wise for the Clippers. Hughes for Camby and one of the Clips small junk contracts works too, and the Clippers don’t have to take on additional contract years. They need backcourt help and have excess bodies in the front court. Going after Camby in one way or another makes good sense for the Bulls both short and long term. I would like to see this happen, just not sacrificing Noah or Thabo.

by BigWay on Nov 28, 2008 3:36 AM CST reply actions

um

losing Noah or Thabo wouldnt be a big deal for Camby DPOY. thabo never even plays

by sillyrussian on Nov 28, 2008 1:12 PM CST up reply actions

All these deals u guys are proposing

yes they work money wise, but why in gods name would the clipps make them? Noce isnt worth camby, skill wise, and his contract is way longer… thats why we need to throw in a young prospect. We have to give something to get somtehing. its not all about making money match.

by sillyrussian on Nov 28, 2008 1:11 PM CST reply actions

Camby would be a nice addition

but unfortunately I doubt he would want to stick around the Bulls.

"He's not scared to take that shot," Rose said. "That's Larry. No matter what, I don't need to remind him to shoot. He's willing to shoot any time."

wow

Your an idiot if you think Tyrus is better than Thornton. Thornton’s just shy of 17 a game

Well....

Some reliable post defense would be nice to help build Rose’s conficence on defense, knowing there is someone behind to help stop at the rim.
But, do we really need to invest in another frontcourt player with no offensive game or real post moves?
