what in the hell

is going on? I love how this team completely collapses during the end of games. Why has Derrick Rose not tried to take over?

These last two quarters

Bulls are playing terrible

I hate this fucking team

Up 9 and they just COLLAPSE. What a bunch of bullshit, VDN isn’t an NBA level coach and Pax should be fired for hiring such an abomination of a coach. Derrick Rose needs to realize that his team is terrible and I don’t care if they’re doubling him and packing the lane, he needs to get to the rim. Fuck these supposed “teammates”. Deng looks like a retard out there and Larry thinks he’s great just because he lucked out and hit a game winner.

Where is Tyrus Thomas? What the fuck Vinny? I hate you. I’d rather have Skiles. Or Boylan. Yeah, I said it. I’d rather have BOYLAN.

by kwintz on Nov 26, 2008 9:41 PM CST reply reply actions actions   1 recs

What do you expect.

If you haven’t noticed VDN, is a coach that has never even sat on a bench is whole life before this season. You should be THANKful that we’re even 2-3 on this circus trip cause last season we didn’t even win a game during this trip. It’s not VDN’s fault for having this sort of roster.

by dannyp07 on Nov 26, 2008 9:48 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It's on Pax and Reinsdork, all of it

They’re the ones to blame for this clusterfuck of a roster we have. This was a winnable game tonight and VDN botched it by coaching another moronic game. We have decided to sacrifice the development of TT in favor of Gooden and his no defense playing self. Sure, his stats look good, but he doesn’t help us win. We have been slightly successful on this circus trip because of Derrick Rose. With a guy like him on your squad, even Helen Keller could get a couple of victories over a six game stretch.

Trades are available to make. It’s on Pax; his job should be in jeopardy and if he doesn’t swing a good trade to a) get us a good low-post presence or b) clear space for 2010, he should get the ax. It is absolutely ridiculous that we aren’t further along with so many “top” lottery picks on this team.

I like the fact that Rose is still trying to play the team game, worthless teammates notwithstanding

I have to believe that the roster will improve, and Rose doesn’t need to be picking up bad habits in the interim.

Ridiculous small ball

finally caught up with us and VDN doesn’t know how to make in game adjustments. Rose is being too passive b/c apparently he has faith in this horrible “team”. Larry Hughes, Luol Deng and Aaron Gray HAPPENED. God. I’m just gonna get shit-faced.

There's not much to love about this team...

Rose is obviously phenomenal. However, Deng can’t beat Matt Bonner off the dribble. Hughes shoots every time. Gooden is a terrible help defender. If Noc isn’t spacing the floor with threes, he has no value. Gordon still doesn’t understand that if he just runs hard off of screens, he’ll score 25 w/o having to dribble (not a strength). Noah is out of shape. It’s just miserable to watch if Rose isn’t attacking.

Derrick Rose is the ONLY good player on the roster.

Let me rephrase what I said early on the game

This was the second worst game after that one on Portland. And the bad thing is that we could had won this one, if it wasn’t VDN options. Losing to a SA without Parker is awfull

Like really,

What harm would it be to focus on the future? as in let TT (Shit as he is), and Noah at least play? They are top 10 picks we should at least TRY to make them into something at least useful? Gray? Noc? Hughes? Gooden? These guys are not in the future plans, whats going on? Just frustrating.

An excruciating game.

Rose just looked exhausted, and frankly, it was like BG and Hughes were playing keep-away with him. Tonight was the first night where I thought there’s definitely a power struggle going on. I didn’t really see it before. Now I believe it.

was having a great game. Nevertheless, he’s go to realize that in crunch time, give the ball to Derrick.

Larry is back to being who we all thought he was

4 for 14, 0 for 6 from the arc, 1 rebound, zero FTA’s in 40 minutes. This spells LOSER in my book. Which makes VDN a jerk for keeping him on the court all that time. Vinney should sit down once in a while and read the stat sheet during the game, not after he has miscoached them into another loss in a game they could have won.

It’s not just about how many points you score. Noce and Gooden were -8,
Larry -11,
Gordon the great gamer -15.
Luol -6.
Thomas who we all know is a dud -2, and the other stiff Noah +2 Gray -1 and
Rose, playing with a bunch of selfish stat padders -1.

I know statistics are only part of the story, but it seems our big guns habitually give up more points than they put on the boards. Gooden just can’t stop anybody, Gordon can’t grow any taller, while Hughes has demonstrated he is able to completely shut down an offense, but unfortunately, it’s usually ours.
Rose still gets burned on pick and rolls and has a lot to learn defensively, but he’s a quick study and it’s just a matter of time before he puts this part of his game together.

Apparently, Thabo, Thomas and Noah are in VDN’s doghouse, which leads to stagnation if he doesn’t throw them some bones once in awhile, especially while the others are being ripped apart like a bunch of Yorkies battling some angry pit bulls.

Hughes, Deng, Noce and Gray played 92 minutes and hauled down 6 boards.
Thomas and Noah had 9 rebounds in 20 minutes. Does a lack of rebounding ever affect the outcome of a game? I guess I’ll have to ask Da Coach on that one.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

EVERYBODY blames Ben Gordon when the truth is....

….our backcourt would be NO ISSUE AT ALL if ANYBODY in our frontcourt other than Drew Gooden would decide to show up. Truth be told, we have some of the most solid guard play in the league (or are capable of getting that). But as long as we remain as inept as we are in the frontcourt, we stand NO CHANCE of being a decent team. So people, PLEASE STOP complaining about the guards. They are the LEAST of our concerns.

Gordon/Rose/Hughes/Hinrich, etc…. we have 1 soon to be sure fire all-star in that group and we have a 20+ ppg guy (maybe 2) in that mix. I will no longer worry myself to death about our backcourt. Paxson MUST make a move and get us some frontcourt help…or somebody upfront better grow up and get good in a hurry.

Reading that I really can't disagree

I never expected this team to be over .500, and I actually thought we’d start out worse. It really isn’t that bad. We actually have a star.

by BoxingHideout on Nov 26, 2008 11:44 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

for perspective though,

the Blazers were the first team in NBA history to open the season with five straight games against teams that won 54 games… look at the Hollinger Power Rankings if you want to see strength of schedule stats. (although I think Hollinger’s predictions are stupid… that guy needs to get a new job)

by Bust a Bucket on Nov 27, 2008 3:06 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm also done giving a fuck about what the Blazers are doing

Everywhere we go, the Blazers are mentioned in a parallel story line with the Bulls.

Enough is enough. One is the West and one is in the East.

So we both have young teams . . . Woo Hoo.

Fuck the Blazers and fuck all the comparisons

And you also just played the Heat

And the Blazers are a better team than the Bulls, and are certainly better coached. It’s a miracle this team is near .500, it’s sad if the Blazers aren’t winning with their talent.

by Ozzie Montana on Nov 27, 2008 1:53 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

True, the Blazers just played the Heat and beat them by 38 points (sound familiar?... just kidding)

They are also 4-0 against the Eastern Conference and 6-0 at home.

It will be more interesting after they play the Hornets at home on Friday and depart on a 5 game Eastern road trip… Detroit, Knicks, Wizards, Boston, Toronto… Out of those teams, only Detroit and Boston are elite level, but the others aren’t pushovers (except for the Knicks who are just stupid at this point even though they started the season OK before the trades). The Wiz are arguably very weak, but road games are never easy, no matter how bad the other team is.

But enough about the Blazers… what is the outlook for Chicago this year? What can they realistically do once everyone is healthy and any trades to be made are made?

Would you rather they snake into the lottery again and try to get lucky with the ping pong ballz?

Much as it pains me to say this...

Noce has got to sit down till he plays better. He has really sucked the last few games.

How bad is it? I found myself rejoicing when he hit a threepointer.

ONE FREAKING THREEPOINTER.

Two years ago, there was a strong push for him to be in the three point shoo out, with his 43% (more or less) shooting percentage from 3point land. Now, I practically throw a ticker tape parade when he hits one.

That being said, I find myself at a loss when asked who should take his minutes. Thabo? Been sucking a lot too. TT? Sucks even more. Noah? Sucks and huffs and puffs after 3 trips down the floor. Hughes? Simmons? The departed Nichols?

Who, damn it, who?

by PatBull on Nov 26, 2008 11:38 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Thank you!

Tough loss, but complaining that Vinnie’s use of line-ups cost us this game is just strange. Hunter was playing because Rose can’t be there all 48. Gooden was in there because he was the only big who seemed halfway able to score off some kind of play—you think the Spurs would have tried to double Noah? And maybe I’m dense, but as the Bulls were losing I never once thought, “Ya know what the game needs right now? More Tyrus! HE will turn it around!!” If Vinnie was a fry cook at a Wal-Mart cafeteria, some of you would send your hot dog back, thinking it could become a Pump Room soufflee if Vinnie just switched tubs of mayonnaise.

Had to look up how to spell mayonnaise for that one…I don’t know if the metaphor was worth it!

Hehehehe!

Thank you. Maybe we should form our own mutual admiration club?

Going back to the game, DRose seemed a bit tired. Saw Hill take him to the hole a couple of times and he seemed tentative on offense.

I even saw him hand off to Gooden who was at the three point line and clear out for him. Unfortunately, Gooden was being guarded by Kurt Thomas so that wasn’t really advantageous for us. Missed shot for us, made shot for the Spurs.

What do you think happened to DRose?

by PatBull on Nov 27, 2008 12:31 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Tyrus and Noah might have stopped the bleeding during the Spurs 31 to 6 run in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter and 1st 6 minutes of the 4th.

During that collapse the Bulls commited 8 turnovers and 8 personal fouls. The Spurs had 3 turnovers and 3 fouls, none of which resulted in a single Bulls point. They outrebounded the Bulls 12 to 7. The Bulls converted 3 of 17, while San Antonio was 10 for 17 with 3 triples. While the Bulls shot no free throws, the Spurs were 8 of 10.
Hughes 1 for 5 Noce 0 for 1
Gordon 0 for 3 Hunter 0 for 1
Rose 0 for 2
Gooden 1 for 3
Deng 1 for 2

Is it not reasonable to conclude with the quickness and rebounding skills of Tyrus, Noah and maybe Thabo giving the others a breather, things would not have deteriorated asquickly as they did?
We are all entitled to our opinions but more small ball was not the answer.

I hear ya...either Tyrus or Noah *could* have helped.

But you make it seem like Tyrus & Noah are so obviously better that putting either in over Gooden is a no-brainer that only an idiot coach could ignore. I wish they were that consistently impressive, I really do. I haven’t given up on them yet.

by T Maple on Nov 27, 2008 1:10 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

At that point in time...

I did wish TT was replacing Noce instead of Hughes. But I’m guessing VDN was thinking more along the lines of “TT just gonna muck it up like he’s done in virtually every game so I’ll just go with "game winner” Hughes."

Not so logical reasoning but, unfortunately, not so idiotic either.

by PatBull on Nov 27, 2008 1:15 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Tyrus has no role in the offense, del negro has given up on him

I hate to say it but del negro has already lost faith in tyrus. All he has him do is play off the ball and run in for a rebound, which he rarely gets, but still why isn’t he sprinting the floor, when he sprints he’s as fast as D. Rose.

by armstrong2389 on Nov 27, 2008 10:35 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed that Tyrus has no role in the offense. He had that one horrendous shooting game where he

took 17 shots and since then, it seems, the coaches have decided there should be no sets run for him by keeping him at the top of the key out of his range to set screens, clear the paint for Rose and crash the boards after a miss. If he would set up closer to the baseline, I would think both his offensive and rebounding potential would increase. Tyrus, either by design or lack of skills and/or coaching doesn’t move well off the ball.

It seems the offense has also limited the effectiveness of Luol and turned him almost into a non factor in order to facilitate Rose, Gordon and God Forbid, Larry Hughes. Gooden has enough post up skills and shooting range to create his own shots but he is woefully weak on help defense and defending the paint.

Our centers remain a non factor on offense with the exception of occasional putbacks if the ball bounces their way. Realizing VDN is a guard oriented rookie coach and is learning on the fly, I still feel the bigs would greatly benefit with a big man coach who had success in the NBA. Remember Noah last year had to hire his own personal coach during the season and Tyrus has regressed significantly since he had the guidance of Thorpe in the preseason. Thomas’s lack of body control when he tries to finish must be something that can be improved with coaching, since he has added some weight this year.

He is not who I hoped he was, but at the same time, he is not all that he can be and should be with the proper guidance. His athleticism cries out to be refined. I know his effort has improved but he’s reached a psychological standstill due to his early season failures and is back at his familiar role as a bench warmer. I refuse to give up, but maybe the coaching staff already has. I say give him a chance to fail, let him be more involved in the offense. I realize he is no Larry Hughes, but than who is?

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.
