We can't trade Larry, we need him....
He is without a doubt the least popular player in a Bulls uniform this year among most fans and definitely here on BaB. There have been many comments to trade him for anything we can get. To throw whatever we can into a package to move him.
I disagree, next to Rose, he may be the most valuable player on our team....
If the FA class of 2010 is really going to bring anything to Chicago we need to keep Larry. His expiring contract is worth more to the Bulls than any other player on the roster (Rose excluded of course). IMO If he will actually play at the level he has for the past two outings he won't be a detrememnt to the team and will get enough minutes to shut him up and keep peace in the locker room.
I don't think anyone is untouchable for trades except Rose and Hughes. Speaking of trades, if we are able to trade for a decent big man (Miller, Kaman, Przybilla, etc) in the mean time and win a few games we actually look like a good team for someone to sign with. We got the money and a winning club. I think Bosh is the most likely player to actually come here and would also be the best fit playing with Rose.
My biggest fear is nothing gets done over the next two seasons and Rose gets sick of playing here....

I think the idea is that
you can deal him for other players (who perhaps suck more but at least play less) that expire in 2010

I like Tyger's thought
Water under the bridge, but if Hinrich really was going to be traded for Al Harrington it would have made the Nocioni exit all the more likely in the short run.
Larry is a future all-star that just needs the right coaching and an NBA schedule where he plays the Warriors every night.
In a trust with Vinny Del Negro.
hughes isn't nearly as bad as everyone on this blog thinks
His stats are as good as Fields -- that's the sad thing
you're right.
he’s much, much worse.

thanks! i knew there was a site named this
but couldn’t remember the name!
i thought think link had more vulgarity to it, heh.
Thabo Sefolosha: His last name sounds like a disease, and his ballgame IS one.

I agree, but he's not good either
and even in my support (ugh) of Hughes, I am not confused about this. I’d deal him if it still allowed for the same cap availability for 2010 and provided more minutes for Thabo, a player who may actually have a (fleeting) future with the team.
Regardless of what our chances at landing a top flight FA, another franchise player, really are, the Bulls must take a legitimate shot at landing one.

while I do NOT think Larry is untradable
I do agree with bennythebull that he has a lot of value in terms of his expiring 2010 contract, that shouldnt be underestimated. If he can keep up his ‘solid’ play that he has displayed over the last few games, i dont think there is any need to rush to get him out of uniform.

so, wait we can't trade Larry because he's so valuable in a trade...
something’s not right here? Hmmmm.

My point was
that nothing we could get in return from a trade would be worth what his expiring contract and freed up money will be worth to us in the free agent class of 2010.

I am tired of hearing everyone on blogabull say that Larry Hughes is bad
Sure he takes bad shots sometimes but he has a mindset of making them and a mindset for winning and that is why I like him. Although I woudnt mind trading him for bigs, I think he is someone we can look to for 10-12 points a night. Please stop bashing larry hughes
