Or following his shot, for that matter, even though he bricks consistently and should be looking to crash the boards.

selfish

i think people are thinking the bulls are selfish because the past few years Du-du and hinrich and company passed like five million times to no avail. results werent good people. to score in the nba you need to be ab bit selfish so its good that good or gordon and rose are looking to score. In the old days du would pass it to hinrich to deng back to hinrich set a screen with wallace and wallace has it with like 3 seconds to go in the shot clock. I prefer watching gordon be selfish then wallace with 3 seconds on the shot clock.

by Sambossanova on Nov 24, 2008 9:17 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I agree that Hinrich and duhon passed (and dribbled in circles) to much excess...

But I just wish there would just be a pass and then a screen or a pick and roll…we barely even do those! And when we do, it just ends up with Tyrus or Gooden taking a stupid jump shot that never goes in. You can tell who is going to shoot the ball 5 seconds into the 24 clock, and there is no chance the ball is going to anyone else. I don’t know if its the offensive sets or the players…I may be using Larry Hughes/the other players as scapegoats for our pathetic offense, but something’s off one way or the other

by GroceryBagaric on Nov 24, 2008 9:23 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

This is getting way ahead of things, but . . .

. . . I’m looking forward to seeing how Rose’s game evolves as he loses some of his quickness and hops. I mean, for the next 10-12 years or so, the Bulls = Rose. At some point in his mid- to late-twenties, Rose is not going to be able to sky and explode like he can now. Same thing happened to “Jordon.” Jordan, however, developed every other facet of his game as his athleticism faded (the fadeaway, the defense, the 3 pointer, the post game). Rose seems like a similar competitor who’s very aware of his strengths and weaknesses. I’m looking forward to seeing the development of his skills.

But I’m also looking forward to him dominating the league with his athleticism for the next five years before we get to that point.

I like the subs so far. But we are NOT overmatched here. The only thing I’m worried about is that Utah is a historically bad town to play in. If the refs don’t job us too badly, we ought to be able to play with this bunch.

I just got in front of the TV

Haven’t watched the whole game. His boxscore #s look awful.

But in general, he’s not a bad player overall, he’s just a pitiful one-on-one offensive player. He might be worth the money, but not in that role.

Deng

Is it controversial to think his is the worst contract on the Bulls? At his best, he had a stellar mid-range game, but he has not consistently hit that shot in a while. Without that, the limitations of his game are glaring: no ball-handling, no post game, can’t create an open shot, limited athleticism and poor defense.

The only hope is that he somehow is still injured his game picks up when his health improves. But it really looks like a terrible signing.

A 170k a night, Norm, Larry is LOL at how he won the game for us.

Put the ball in his hand, he will give you his 10 year career average.
15 points a game, 41 percent average, 10 3pt, 80 free throw and one of the best defenders.
Who do you have that is better? THABO? I am still waiting for one stat from one year in any of that cats career that beats Hughes? 10,000 pts in the NBA, you don’t think that is any good? 11 years in the NBA with 31 minutes average per game, you don’t think that is good? Highest steals on the bulls per minute, you don’t think thats any good. Can play point, #2, small forward, thats not any good.
Nah, your just pissed cause he got a contract. Get over it, sometimes a guy that had one of the worst lives growing up gets a break and treast fans and media like gold, but always somebody to trash a guy for their better than the coaching staff.

i agree (we might be the only ones)

i honestly would rather take the loss than to have hughes hit the game winner. ugh what a lucky shot … wished rose had made his jumper, because now larry will think he has the license to shoot whenever the fuck he wants and that is trouble … again, http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/

He deserved it and it would have been a seminal moment in his young career.

Oh, well, he was pretty fantastic down the stretch on the offensive end. I am incredibly impressed by the variety of ways he can finish at the basket.

If they can steal one of the final two games they’ll be 3-4, and I think everyone would have taken that before the trip started. I know they got lucky tonight facing an injury plagued Jazz team, but who’s complaining?

Seriously.

I’m not reading into this one much for the status of our team (because Utah was so depleted), but a win is a win on the Circus Trip. If we can knock off a depleted San Antonio crew too (I kind of doubt it; Duncan is going to flirt with a quadruple double I feel), we’ll be in great position for our next home stand.

I agree to an extent, however -

Utah’s been winning, depleted or not. And the Bulls are depleted too.

Bitch about Larry now

Noah, wanting out after 1/2 the first quarter, Gray gets dunked on at 7foot,
Del Negro needs to go, maybe some of you boys and girls are learning hoops.
Don’t know what he scored, but bet its close to 14-15 points for the game, his 10 year average. Why don’t you give the guy a chance? Get off the salary, the cat is running clapping and most youngsters are out of gas. As said before, worked his ass off this summer, great preseason, works hard in practice (why he plays). Jumpers, go ahead and complain, but they are told to take those many times, get 10,000 points in 11 years in the NBA and then you have room to write the trash many of you do.
Gooden, damn, what a game, Kenyan Martin, without the rap sheet and ankle bracelet
That trade paid, the rookie was great, tired passing off at 4 minutes and missing, but got second wind. Noah needs his own personal trainer and Utah is banged up bad.
We need an old center for some minutes and knowledge of the game, Noah and Gray (who at least tries) are the biggest problem. Deng doesn’t want to be here for some reason, big chip on that shoulder, Gordon you need for the points, though defense is weak, still need him. DelNegro and coaching crew is finding some offense, give them another month and as stated before, look for 10-12 wins better than next year.

as unimpressed as i am with deng, i sincerely feel like he is the plays being run simply dont suit him. he is a specific type of player, who requires specific catch and shoot plays or cuts. we can work this out in time. he wont be a superstar, but he will get more comfortable with rose, and the offense will give him more catch and shoot mid range jumpers

by studdeir on Nov 24, 2008 10:38 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

as many people have been noticing, his defense has been solid. we just need an adjustment in play calling, and a no more 1 on 1.

by studdeir on Nov 24, 2008 10:40 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

i know why larry hit the last shot

It makes sense if you think about it. You see larry hughes takes bad shots, and there is no such thing as a good last second shot, i mean the game should never come down to a last second, buzzer beater, anyway so thats a bad shot (that only special players can take, i mean does kobe take bad shots? did mj?) So Larry hughes was taking a shot where in normal situations is a bad shot for everyone, but because larry hughes normally takes bad shots, this shot was actually a good or normal shot for larry hughes. In that sense this was the perfect shot for larry hughes cuz it was right up his alley, you know, being a real bad shot, and thus a shot he normally takes.

I hate to say it...

But Gray really works well with rose offensively. Because we depend so much on the screen and roll, we need a good screener and Gray is the best screener on our team. I dont know if the difference between him and noah is enough to justify his playing time, but he really does set a good/strong pick.

Also, Stacey is a terrible announcer. Tom and Johnny may have been stupid/senile, but they were the biggest sports fan. Watching the bulls without them is like watching the sox without hawk. And similarly, you have to love your team not to hate those 2 sets of announcers.

Keep Rose away from motorcycles.

I honestly can’t believe he is this good…this soon.

He wasn’t supposed to be a good jump shooter, but his shot has already improved.

He was supposed to have a tough time adjusting to the NBA during his rookie season, but he looks comfortable on the court.

It’s like a dream. Going to home games has become so much more enjoyable.

They have lost once to the best team once to the second best team and twice to the cavs. We lost to orlando and portland and denver. maybe atl is bad but they are above 500 and went ot playoffs. 1 game under 500 is a fantastic start for this team.
