I predict Hughes

I hate to think this
But eventually Luol’s going to come back, and VDN is going to have to choose between BG and Hughes as the starting 2-guard (unless we permanently go small, which I can’t see).
I think we all know what (awful) decision he’ll be making there. Ugh.

Remember
The game is taking place at elevation. All of the “shifts” should be shorter today, and minutes might just be down across-the-board for the regulars.

Larry Hughes doing the things that he needs to do to be successful
I hate to keep harping on this, but when Larry drives and slashes, he’s pretty good.

and when he shoots 3s after one pass of the ball he hurts the team
by Playboy_Bull on Nov 23, 2008 8:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
yes, that's my point. if he can avoid taking those bad shots that he loves and keep
going to the rim, he’s actually pretty good. Not 13 million dollars good, but pretty good.

I just wish he was doing it on another team.
As a former point guard, you’d think he’d consider passing every now and then.

Did you guys hear the story on one of the recent Bulls Beats
About how Skiles was like petrified of Ben Wallace? And he was literally afraid to make decisions against or ever call out the Corpse?
I can’t possibly imagine why this would be the case, but I can only imagine that VDN has the same fear of Larry Hughes.
(Pardon to Doug @ Bulls Beat if I misrepresented any of that).

Tyrus making those passes is one of the worst things he does
he has good vision, he saw an open Thabo, but it’s like he has no concept of how to throw a touch pass. He whips one of those passes past a confused teammate about once a game.

I’m so tired of Tyrus throwing the ball away. And not getting back on defense. And not playing good man to man defense. And not running the break. And not hitting jump shots. And sucking.

DRose is the key to this thing! (Well, him and Gooden not shooting from 20ft out, Hughes not falling in love with his three point shooting, Noah providing good post defense, TT driving and blocking shots, Gordon shooting without not hogging the ball, Noce playing better defense…)

The center rotation won't work now while Noah's so totally out of shape/etc.:
I like your PG/SG[replace Larry’s 5 with more Thabo/Lindsay]/SF minutes, but even with the horribleness it entails I’d go 20/20/8 [Drew/Tyrus/Noce] on PF, and 22/18/8 [Noah/Gray/Gooden] on C. I don’t think Noah will be able to handle ~30 minutes a game right now.
Also, some of your numbers don’t add to 48. [28+17=45? :P]
"You remember the first time you picked up a basketball video game and you had no idea how to run plays, so you just gave the ball to your shooter and you ran around the court aimlessly until a defender was far enough away and then you jacked up a shot? THAT IS LARRY HUGHES!"

Noah gets abused by the Refs, and his teammates
Noah never gets a call on the offensive end, and that has to add up in his mind over time.
The reason that he has so many fouls on defense is that the Bulls don’t have a single plalyer who can man up on defense. So Noah is constantly picking up other guys and drawing fouls, and when he does no one picks up his man, so that when he rotates back to his man, he ends up in a position where his only option is to foul.
If everyone on the team played help defense as much as he does we would be a much better unit. This is what we used to do prior to the team quiting on skiles last season.

If we traded any of them to a veteran squad, I bet the vets would cover up for a lot of their mistakes

That is a good point.
TT on the Celtics would become “all he needed was a fresh start. Shame on the Bulls for not waiting and developing him.”
And all because he would have KG and Perkins covering for his bonehead mistakes.

For a guy who wasn't supposed to be a good shooter, Rose
is already the best jump shooter on the Bulls.
Yes, that includes Gordon, who may have deeper range right now, but is not a better overall shooter
Roses elevation is awesome, notice that he lands forward from where he takes off to shoot, this is the mark of a good shooter, who has learned proper technique. Kerr and Paxson always did this. Guys who fall into the habit of falling backward usaully have problems, as Gordon does often.

Perfect example, whos guarding Martin, whos guarding Billups
Noah just got that foul on Martin after helping on Billups. Neither one of those guys are “his” man, Nene is. So who the fuck is guarding the two guys that Naoh just picked up a foul by trying to guard them both.
In the first half, everytime he turned around Martin was flying down the lane as if nobody was guarding him, and most of the time there wasn’t.
I’m not saying that Noah is the second coming, he may never even become a legitimate starting center, but he really is the least of our worries right now.
