NY Fire sale

With New York cutting costs, the Clips getting Zach, and Chicago low post needs everone wins.

Star-divide

Chicago Bulls get; Marcus Camby, Steve Novak, David Lee, Quentin Richardson

L.A. Clips get; Larry Hughes

New York Knicks get: Tyrus Thomas, Drew Gooden

Chicago finally get the low post defense/scoring in Marcus Camby, David Lee is more effective than Tyrus Thomas as a back up, Steve Novak just to make the deal work to get rid of Larry Hughes and Quentin Richardson as a back-up for Luol Deng.

L.A. Clips move Camby because he's not gonna want to come off the bench and they replace Mobley's defense and scoring with Hughes and Novak is just about the dollars.

Knicks get back less salary and Tyrus Thomas' athleticism which D'Antoni will like and Drew Gooden to replace Zach since their probbably not goint to play Curry.

The Clippers

would need so much more than that.

With Zach's salary

they can’t afford to get back more and they get a starter in Hughes and his defense

Yeah,

Hughes is totally a starter in the NBA.
Everybody believes you.

Wow

Chicago gets so much for so little! I didn’t realize how easy that was!

Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

and

New York is getting more than what they got from the Clippers

by PricanStar on Nov 21, 2008 8:36 PM CST up reply actions

Still it's not going to work.

The Knickerbockers did that for salary cap space in 2010 to get that guy who was drafted 1st in the draft where we got Hinrich at 7th. Oh how much value goes in between the 1st and 7th pick… What does anybody other than us get in this trade?

Things could be worse.

by stupidgenius on Nov 21, 2008 8:41 PM CST up reply actions

As it states

more salary cap space for them, the clips a shooting guard to replace Mobley.

This sucks,

sorry. I’ve tried to stay away from commenting on trades but I’ve become excited by the possibility of a Clippers big coming to Chicago.

Nevermind NY, and just look at LA’s perspective. They just gave away Camby for Hughes straight up. Why would they do that?!?

They did get Camby for nothing....

Yeah

i’m just just a desperate bulls fan for a real center. it sucks watching them shoot jumpers all night.

by PricanStar on Nov 21, 2008 8:50 PM CST reply actions

We're all hoping for a real center.

There are several reasonable scenarios in which the Bulls land one. This isn’t one of them. It’s a pipe dream.

Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

If the Knicks can trade Z-bo

Then we have to be able to move Larry the Chucker.

by Mobile Gary on Nov 21, 2008 10:42 PM CST reply actions

Randolph has been having a monster season

And has been an above average scoring big man for some time now. Hughes has had exactly 1 season in the NBA where he looked like a star. He has no value to anyone.

by Ozzie Montana on Nov 22, 2008 12:25 PM CST up reply actions

I refer you, PricanStar, to fundamentallysounds' trade idea

for a trade that dumps Hughes, nets us Kaman, and doesn’t involve charity work on the part of GM’s across the league.

Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

by BigBenign on Nov 22, 2008 3:33 PM CST reply actions

Most of us want Kaman

But looking at the position the Clippers are thin at which is SG all we have to offer is Hughes because Gordon is not available to trade and Hinrich is injured. Thats why I didn’t mention Kaman because Hughes for Kaman straight up sounds worst than Camby for Hughes being that the Clips got Camby for nothing.

by PricanStar on Nov 22, 2008 4:18 PM CST up reply actions

Camby

isn’t a low post scorer. And just because the Clippers didn’t have to give anything of value for Camby doesn’t mean they’d return the favor. He’s an asset like any of the other players on their roster, and they could do far better than Larry Hughes. Just because “all we have to offer is Hughes” doesn’t mean other teams have to take him.

Which leads me to fundamentallysound’s trade. Hope you looked at it, cause the three team deal he suggests nets the Clippers the SG they want, but it’s a SG of a much higher caliber than Hughes. And by the way, your NY trade is essentially an entirely separate trade. Why does this have to be a three-teamer again? Why not just keep Tyrus and Gooden, who expires at the end of the year?

Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."
