Open Game Thread #13: Bulls at Golden State Warriors

Chicago @ Golden State

Vinny is starting Rose/Gordon/Hughes/Sefolosha/Gooden.

That's a real live report.

I'm not watching this one live, I'll say that much.

this is why Gooden has to go

As long as he is around our Bimbo Vinnie will use him as a center. This is a game that Noah could have gotten some confidence back, maybe even dominated at least on the Boards.

What the fuck?

That’s the dumbest lineup I’ve ever seen, in 15 years of watching the NBA. And yes, that includes Wednesday’s lineup.

Why resort to name calling?

Hughes at Small Forward and Thabo at Power

Plenty of venting

goin on in the game preview. it’s all been said.

Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

Who's ready for

Golden State out-muscling us on the inside?

Thank god i won't get this game on my cable.

I was going to ask for a link but i wont bother with these lineups.

Thabo Sefolosha: His last name sounds like a disease, and his ballgame IS one.

Why not start Hunter, and make it a 5-guard lineup?

At least then VDN can make history by becoming the first coach ever to start 5 guards at the same time.

dear god how is he so awful. cant he be demoted to the d league? is that an option. i wish it was like baseball.

by Sambossanova on Nov 21, 2008 9:46 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

hah

and here he is complaining about “deserving” (not real quotes, but it is implied) more minutes.

Derrick Rose is going to be a star. He can really handle his balls.

by bulls*hit on Nov 21, 2008 9:57 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

If D-Rose is making those shots

It’s officially over for the rest of the league.

The thing about basketball is...

You have these two spots, usually filled by large men. These two spots are for players that can PROTECT THE BASKET.

Yeah.

That’s why his three % is so bad, he’s added more arc to it. Maybe it’s getting more used to it now. :D
That’d be pretty sweet.

He is playing in the frontcourt tonight

I have been saying since last season that he might be more effective in the frontcourt, he is not quite athletic enough to keep up with the 2 guards.

by BigWay on Nov 21, 2008 11:01 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

This is

the worst fucking three minutes of basketball ever. Except for Thabo making jumpers.

I gave up hope of winning that game very, very early in the contest

This is more painful because a victory might be in the balance.

General manager needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.

It's working on a small team, but what if we play a big team like this?

PG: Derrick Rose
SG: Luol Deng
SF: Tyrus Thomas
PF: Drew Gooden
C: Joakim Noah

IMagine

imagine if deng was playing instead of hughes. this could have been the bulls lineup all year if D’Antoni was coach. I think it works partly cause they are playing the warriors but Thabo is probably one of the best rebounders at his position.

by Sambossanova on Nov 21, 2008 9:53 PM CST   0 recs

I was about to post something like this,

but not as funny.

What is it with Thabo's "ole" defense

He’s done that twice already. Just freaking guard the guy!

he doesn't know

how to hit shots and play defense at the same time…he either does one or the other

by NormVanBeer on Nov 21, 2008 9:56 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

In a half-assed attempt to defend Thabo's defense,

on that last one, while the general basketball rule is that you DON’T let people go baseline, Skiles had us in a bizzarro defensive scheme (that kind of depended on Ben Wallace) that led people to the baseline for a trap behind the basket. Maybe Thabo is reverting to old instincts created by old coaching.

Or maybe he’s just not that good.

by arjoseph on Nov 21, 2008 9:57 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

no gloating

about thabo? figured you’d be all over that!

I believe he was replying to me.

However, I won’t gloat over Thabo because the little bit of relatively positive play he’s had in this game is not conclusive of anything. I will say, though, that it keeps me encouraged.
