Open Game Thread #13: Bulls at Golden State Warriors

Chicago Bulls at Golden State Warriors, Nov 21, 2008 9:30 PM CST

Vinny is starting Rose/Gordon/Hughes/Sefolosha/Gooden.

That's a real live report.

I'm not watching this one live, I'll say that much.

this is why Gooden has to go

As long as he is around our Bimbo Vinnie will use him as a center. This is a game that Noah could have gotten some confidence back, maybe even dominated at least on the Boards.

What the fuck?

That’s the dumbest lineup I’ve ever seen, in 15 years of watching the NBA. And yes, that includes Wednesday’s lineup.

Why not start Hunter, and make it a 5-guard lineup?

At least then VDN can make history by becoming the first coach ever to start 5 guards at the same time.

In a half-assed attempt to defend Thabo's defense,

on that last one, while the general basketball rule is that you DON’T let people go baseline, Skiles had us in a bizzarro defensive scheme (that kind of depended on Ben Wallace) that led people to the baseline for a trap behind the basket. Maybe Thabo is reverting to old instincts created by old coaching.

Or maybe he’s just not that good.

yeah, it goes back to the changed shooting form I mentioned earlier

it was screwing him up earlier in the year because he was trying to adjust to the new shot during game time situations, but it looks like he is getting the hang of it. No more line drive jumpers. If he starts hitting threes at a better clip, with his defense and deference to Rose, he’s a good fit with this group.

I don't mind it that much. The talent differentials between each player and his backup

on this team aren’t very great. It seems like Vinny is trying to get an idea for what he has. It also might be to evaluate who plays best together to decide who should stay and who should go. At least, that’s my very optimistic hope.

That's actually not a horrible plan.

If we’re in striking distance in the last six minutes, we’re good. GSW doesn’t have the capacity to lock down on defense in the waning minutes (and we do). That’s what wins at the end. If we’re just saving our focus for then, I’m all for it. We can hang until then.

Even if the Bulls somehow win this game, VDN's lineups bring back nightmares of

Ihatenobrainb*%L#n.

Larry Hughes will cool off in the 2nd half and our 4 guard lineup will self destruct. Even more frightening is the remote possiblility that Larry will have a statistically good game, and Vinny will decide he should be in the mix with big minutes from here on in.

I don’t need a crystal ball to make the prediction the Bulls will likely fold, at which point Tyrus and Noah will come in with less than 2 minuts left to change the momentum. Thanks Vinney for giving Tyrus 5 minutes and keeping Noah glued to the bench against a team he could probably match up well with.

Kudos to Larry Hughes. His finest game as a Bull.

Now lets give him a trophy and retire his number so Vinny doesn’t actually mistake him for a talented, team first player.

But 26 pts., 4 boards, 50% shooting, 5 of 7 from the arc, a steal, a block and only 1 turnover is nothing to sneeze at. If he could somehow replicate that on a consistent basis for awhile, maybe some desperate team would be foolish enough to take him off our hands, so from here on in, I’m rooting for Larry.
