Larry Hughes isn't happy
[From the FanShots. Listen, we had to know that Larry Hughes would eventually sabotage the team, and the organization (who from the GM to the announcing crew refuse to treat this guy as the garbage-time player he now is) would be complicit in it. I guess we didn't have to know this, but this is the Bulls after all. -ed.]

Does this explain his starting role tonight?
Since when does a scrub player get a full article about his lack of playing time? Tomorrow, Cedric Simmons will be upset that he is getting so many DNP-CD.
My hope is Larry demands a trade…

The problem is the media keeps acting like he's not a scrub
When he was out it seemed like every analyst I saw kept mentioning how Hughes would be back and they’d have to make minutes for him. Some even talked like he’d be another big addition when he came back. He must throw some awesome parties or give great birthday presents or something. The blogs and fans rip him apart, but he seems to get a total pass from the media despite being absolute trash.

Couldn't agree more.
It’s strange, he gets total star treatment from all the media people. When he went down it was made into a fairly big deal. And when they have practice interviews he’s one of their go-to guys.

What NBA team would give this guy a starting gig right from the jump?
Seriously, llike where is this magical place where Larry Hughes’ value is realized? Washington? I just don’t get it. He has to know he’s not good.

I would love to be able to sit at the end of the Bulls bench
every game for 1% of Larry “Chucker” Hughes’s salary.
I promise not to complain about getting a “DNP-CD” every game. ;)

Stop ragging on Larry the Loser
Tonight Larry had the 2nd best (+/-) of the Bulls starters…….(-26) in just a little over 21 minutes of crapdom. Our supersized center Aaron Gray was our top performer with a -25. Rose was 3rd with -33 floowed by Gooden at -35 and Gordon at -36.
Once again Hughes had zero assists for the 3rd time in 4 games. To be fair he did rack up 2 big ones in his 3rd game back, so with more minutes he could bring his assist total to almost 1 per game. No wonder he’s bitching about playing time.
Since we have nothing coming from our bigs, maybe Larry can play the 4 or the 5, to get his minutes. The way the team is sucking right now, I don’t hink it would make any difference.
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

I'm unhappy too Larry
It upsets me that someone who is shooting 37% from the field and averaging half of an assist a game is allowed to put on a Bulls jersey.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: hand this assclown a mop and make him captain of the custodial team at the United Center. He’d be somewhat closer to deserving his absurd contract.
by darksmokepuncher on Nov 20, 2008 8:09 AM CST 0 recs
Bad idea suggesting Larry F*%K*ng Hughes be made captain of anything.
If he was directing the cleanup crews he probably would be using the wrong end of the mop and based on the leadership skils he has shown in the past, the United Center would wind up eventually being condemned by the health department.

Dear Vinny Del Negro
Larry Hughes sucks.
Not only does he suck, he’s an a-hole.
He complained about his minutes to the media without talking to you.
If you have any balls whatsoever(or Pax does), then you will start treating this utter douchebag like the Knicks are treating Marbury.

and actually
if it was D’Antoni who decided to push Tyrus and Noah towards the end of the bench because they couldn’t play…I’d actually be ok with it. I’m not convinced that VDN has those kind of evaluations, and that he just thinks Nocioni/Gray/Gooden actually works. And that Larry Hughes is a starting SF

Let's be reasonable here
The biggest knock on Larry Hughes that I am aware of has been his poor shot selection and poor shooting. I don’t recall him ever being labeled a team cancer or viewed as a player who is so disrespectful of his profession that he cannot stay in shape. By all indications that I’ve seen and read, the man is a good teammate and a hard worker.

Ya, that why he won the Austin Carr Award in Cleveland
For the best player in their treatment of the community and the media, you are correct.
Shot selection, every player is going to take shots, you get hot, you knock down 30-40 and Hughes has done that plenty of times, but you have to try during a game and you have to find your stroke.
I think we got a good deal for Ben Wallace. Most is left over Cleveland Trash, remember, they thought the deserved a Championship for Hughes salary. They got to the finals, for the only time since Lebron has played, but promised Hughes that he didn’t have to play point. Remember, not too many people can even play point, #2 and small forward. So he said I would like to be traded (not in the press). Del Negro and these assistants, many who could be head coach also will help the bulls alot, but shit, what is it, under 15 games and blog a bullshit wants trades, coaching staff fired.
Takes 2 months for a team to gel in the NBA, if you don’t know that, coupled with all the injuries, maybe checkers is a sport some should seek. Have a little reason, common sense, look up a little history.

"Remember, not too many people can even play point, #2 and small forward."
plenty can play none of the above, including the esteemed Mr. Hughes.
He’s literally one of of the worst players in the entire league (mostly because those worse than him don’t get the minutes he does)

every Bull is unhappy.
I really didn’t need Larry to tell the Media, and then the Media to tell me that Larry is unhappy.
Larry is shooting (I’m assuming) 17%, and he was abysmally important to the Blazers romping of the Bulls. Yea, I can figure out for myself that Larry is unhappy.
Larry, shut up and play. It’s your job, that’s why you get (over) paid.

and my lack thereof is a complete failure on the part of the coaching staff.
Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

Gordon never complained about his playing time or even said that he wanted to start. His exact words were that maybe the coaches needed to “mix something up”. That’s nowhere close to what Hughes just said.

Will looks like most of you just got STUFFED
Hughes is happier than can be, the coaching staff knows they are going to use him
now he just got 1 win on a tough road trip after still coming back and nursing a shoulder injury. Bullshit on always out, he has nearly 3000 points going into his 11th year in the league (thats a short list for you make believe know it alls). Plus ranks as one of the better defense players (even out rebounding these sad centers in games this year already).
IF your pissed about the salary, then go earn it yourself, when you average nearly 15 points a game over 10 years and lead or nearly lead the league in steals, sink 3000 points, thats what you get when superstar LeBron says “get him” for my team. So if this is the bitch a bull board great. Also, we got the best coaching staff in 7 years and people bitch about that. Look who is backing up Del Negro, then you will figure this team will make progress way above last years in wins. Accept not trying, quote from Jordon, another idiot, for Jordon played and wanted Hughes on the Wizards, another poor lack of knowlege. No, he isn’t a superstar, a Lebron a Kobe, a Wade, but he is not the end of the bulls bench. Stupid stuff like release him, thats beautiful, just remember to buck up the 30 million for this year and next. He didn’t demand the money, it was offered to lure him away from the Wizards. Get over it, many blow out a knee and its all over. Plus, the man is no prick, he probably is the most generous player to the community you will have.
I live in Chicago, never played past college, but played Hughes back in the 90’s in St. Louis and followed his career now since the one year at SLUH. A plain shame you don’t know what you have, but know you have coaches that do, so get ready to eat your keystrokes. Get ready for an average of about 14.5 pts per game and steals and rebounds that equal the rookie centers. Deerfield, OUT
