What does Del Negro say to the team at the half?

Um, I totally let you guys down tonight in the first half with my bad coaching. Please play better and give the ball to Rose so he can take over?

Argh – That was ugly.

Perhaps...

But, if we had Lamarcus we most certainly would have won a few more games last year, probably made the playoffs, and wouldn’t have been in the lottery to draft Rose… I’d take Rose over Aldridge any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Great, except Roy was the #1 pick in that draft

and I lobbied hard for him, but nobody ever listens to me.

But we couldn’t take him because our backcourt was so loaded with midgets, Hinrich, Gordon and Duhon.

A repost of a question I asked in the earlier thread

Change one aspect of the Bulls’ organization. New GM, new coach, trade somebody for a specific kind of player — what’s the one step that would do the most to begin to change the Bulls from "borderline playoff team" to "ECF contender"?

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:16 PM CST reply actions

I can't quite get a handle on Paxson

I feel like he’s got a solid eye for talent, and he hasn’t made any egregious errors (save the corpse trade)…but the Bulls have notably backslid in his tenure in the last couple of years. He doesn’t seem like a BAD GM to me though.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:19 PM CST up reply actions

It has to be Paxson

the inability to pull the trigger on a trade for somebody to be a leader for the team
the signing of ben wallace
the draft picks other than rose
he just hasn’t been very good other than rose

by aznsensation on Nov 19, 2008 11:19 PM CST up reply actions

Who would you prefer?

I feel like the Bulls’ biggest problem right now is that they don’t have an identity. They may have tuned Skiles out, but at least you knew that he had put his stamp on the team. What are the Bulls right now? Drive and kick with a whole crop of decent-but-not-All-Star guards (save Rose, who is awesome already) isn’t an identity.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:23 PM CST up reply actions

How about Portland's GM

They were the dregs of the NBA 2-3 years ago, the Jail Blazers. Now they as much talent as the Lakers, and may dominate for the next decade.

by BigWay on Nov 20, 2008 1:53 AM CST up reply actions

by Azabullsfan on Nov 19, 2008 11:17 PM CST reply actions

Why does Rose dribble into a trap every time he brings the ball up?

That’s basic f’ing PG play. You stay away from the sideline. You bring the ball up the middle. You bring the ball up on the side, you get trapped. Simple f’ing basketball. Why does nobody on our team know how to play??

by arjoseph on Nov 19, 2008 11:18 PM CST reply actions

Portland figured us out

Throw everyone at Rose cause no one else can do shit

by Option27 on Nov 19, 2008 11:18 PM CST reply actions

It's partly Rose's fault, though.

He could avoid a lot of the pressure by staying in the middle of the court. If he draws doubles in the middle, others will be open in position. If he draws traps on the sideline, he has to bail out, and the defense has time to rotate.

by arjoseph on Nov 19, 2008 11:20 PM CST up reply actions

Not really

Portland’s defense is just working. Forcing him to go where they want him to go.

Pretty much focusing everyone else out on the Bulls

by Option27 on Nov 19, 2008 11:22 PM CST up reply actions

Forget that

Rose is all we have. Anyone else is on the block in my opinion. I make that known to the league. Pawn who you want. This is going to be blown up

tyrus and noah

maybe skiles was right all along about tyrus and didnt play him cause he kind of sucks when he gets enough minutes on a consistent basis. Paxson can hide no more…this is all mostly his doing. Actually ultimately i blame Reinsdorf, the greedy owner who wont go into the luxury tax and is over controlling. If it werent for Rose, I might would probably switch most my loyalty to the knicks and start following them.

fast forwarded through most of the first half, didn’t watch the second. The Bulls tanked it from the outset tonight by starting two of their worst players (and leaving them there for 7.5 minutes), so why bother ‘analyzing’ beyond that.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:27 PM CST up reply actions

definitely

he’s still a little up and down, which isn’t surprising since he’s only 19, but he’s got great instinct and really plays team ball. he’s gonna be a great complementary piece.

by shralpster on Nov 19, 2008 11:30 PM CST up reply actions

I think he will be

He has outstanding instincts for the basketball — his ability to play passing lanes, get his hands on loose rebounds, and bat balls to his teammates is uncanny for a 19-year-old. He’s uberathletic and (mostly) knows his limitations on the offensive end. I’d like to see him shoot fewer threes, but if and when he develops NBA range on his J, he’ll be at the least a rotation player and has the potential to supplant Martell as the long-term starter.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:31 PM CST up reply actions

You forgot to mention

that Simmons’ hook went into the side of the rim and not necessarily the basket itself.

Unfortunatley…that is so true!

He could be your team’s version of Hughes.

Does the name

“Derek Anderson” ring a bell…

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:56 PM CST up reply actions

Wow

actually, that’s an uncanny parallel.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 19, 2008 11:56 PM CST up reply actions

The stats belie your argument

Nocioni: 44.0% FG, 36.5 3P% career.
Outlaw: 44.1% FG, 36.4% career.

I calls 'em like I sees 'em. I'd make that trade 10 times out of 10, taking Noc.

Mr. Sweet Box Score

who loves the numbers calls ’em like he sees ’em? Stylistically and statistically they resemble each other, IMHO.

by BlazersOrBust on Nov 20, 2008 12:02 AM CST up reply actions

I'd have to go with Noce and Timbo on this one.

But since we’re dealing anyway…would you trade Fernandez for Noce?

Please?

by PatBull on Nov 20, 2008 12:19 AM CST up reply actions

Back again briefly after finishing my boxscore work at the BEdge...

Speaking for Saint Pritchard, All Praise His Name — Fernandez is in the same category as Roy/Oden/LMA, which is to say, not gonna be moved for anyone. The guy that KP would lust for is Rose, but I don’t know that the banquet of mediocrity that he could offer (Rodriguez/Frye/ Diogu/Blake/maybe Bayless if ya smile nice) would be sufficient. I doubt it…

Of the core 4 players, I think Aldridge is the one that could be obtained. He’s been slumping of late, I know there are fans that would part with him……….. this month………….. but KP has been pretty consistent about building from within, using the draft and going young and taking his lumps for a few years with the payoff of having a young roster and a solid culture. I see the Bulls going this way also. They’ve got some great pieces in Rose and Deng and Noah etc. A couple trades and a draft or two…….

by timbo on Nov 20, 2008 12:27 AM CST up reply actions

Outlaw is obtainable also, I forgot to mention him. The starting 3, Martell Webster, was out this game and will be back first week of Dec., causing a bit of pressure to move a 3...

…………………The rookie who played tonight, Nic Batum, won’t be traded.

Noc sucks. Why did we sign him?

Derrick Rose will lead us back to the promise land.

by DRose#1 on Nov 19, 2008 11:57 PM CST reply actions

I doubt it.

Noce and TT plus a draft pick were offered for Gasol. Grizz said no. It was Deng they were after.

And we signed him because he was a Skiles kind of guy…except Skiles is now in Milwaukee. Think we can trade him there?

by PatBull on Nov 19, 2008 11:59 PM CST up reply actions

Because he lit up Miami in the playoffs...

I remember it like it was three years ago.

by Khalid El-Amin on Nov 19, 2008 11:58 PM CST up reply actions

Oh yeah.

He lit up Miami so badly Posey was looking for a way to break his nose instead of TT’s.

I thinnk Bab needs to introduce the hair-o-meter.

Kinda like the Shawaon-o-meter with the Cubs. On a game by game basis we’ll judge Vinny’s coaching performances on a scale ranging from Shiny! to dull.

His jumper has nice elevation and looks pretty and everything.
I don’t really understand why it isn’t going in, myself. :/

And going in are two differnt things altogether. I don’t know why his shots don’t go in either.

They were in preseason.

I think it’s just that he’s not comfortable with it, and rushes the jumper every time he shoots it. Every time.
Retarded fadeaway jumpers notwithstanding [he hasn’t taken any of those in the last 3 or 4 games, though, so it’s all good].
