Hughes to NYK for Curry & Lee?

NYK is never going to let poor Eddy Curry off the bench, despite his big soft hands. NYK is also never going to re-sign fan favorite David Lee, because of Donnie Walsh's 2010 plan. So, while it wouldn't exactly solve all our low post scoring problems (all Curry ever did was score from the low block) it gives us two assets (D Lee is RFA after this season) that both expire soon.

Lee would be awesome

I'd trade Hughes

for Zeke, his pills, and his legal baggage.

In a trust with Vinny Del Negro.

I would rather have Zeke as well

at least he’s productive. Zeke and Lee for Thomas and Hughes? Let Noah play off of Zeke and just rebound, eh?

Didn't we get rid of Curry because...

… the Bulls organization refused to sign him to a long-term deal unless he did genetic testing on his heart condition? What’s changed between now and then?

toss in tyrus and i'm

sold. just getting lee in this trade would be a net benefit for the bulls.

Why would the Knicks do this?

Give up on David Lee so they can get … wait for it … Larry Hughes?
Eck.
Otherwise …
a real Power Forward! Oh my god! [Maybe he can play center!]

Because he's an RFA this summer...

….and the rumors are that as much as they like him, they don’t want to re-sign him and hurt their chances of getting a 2010 free agent. If they could get rid of Curry, I think they can conceivably re-sign one max player in 2010. And Lee can actually bring something back in value.

I think they’d be smarter to jettison Curry or Crawford or Jeffries and get nothing in return and re-sign Lee, instead of the above strategy. And maybe that’s what they are thinking of doing, but the above is the rumored plan as far as I know.

Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!

Unless Walsh's plan changes...

D-Lee walks away this summer. Curry, yeah I know he’s only good for 15 points and 4 boards, but we have NO interior options. Curry is what he is: a big fat low post scorer. That’s all he’s ever been.

NY does this to get under the cap by 2010, and get a player that might better fit in D’Antoni’s system as a place saver. If Marbury and Curry come off the books (or in this case Hughes) that’s nearly $30m they have to entice some star-crossed all-star (though doubtful it’s LeBron).

Curry comes off our books by 2010, too. So do Gooden and (in this scenario) Lee.

After last night debacle I’m ready for Pax to just blow this squad up and start fresh…maybe I just need to be more patient…

I don't care about Curry

But I would do this just for David Lee….

Plus I’d rather see fat, uninterested Eddy back for more minutes than Aaron.

Problem is VDN and crew would probably want to have Aaron Gray and Eddy Curry lineups….

Oh wait, crap.

We have to trade Hughes to get Curry!
nooooooooooooooooo
Now I can’t make awful lineups with him … that’s bad. Maybe the only trading negative.

by Prevenge on Nov 21, 2008 2:49 AM CST up reply actions

Wasted post, it can't happen

Go back to the reason why we traded eddy in the first place. Liability.

no kidding

no more Curry trades, please. Even if he was good it’d be pointless

Do it!

I’d rather have Curry than Thomas and Noah as a center for now. That would give us time to find a Center via draft or free agency. The Bulls can let Curry’s contract expire which would give the new center a year to get acclimated to the system. David Lee would be an awsome pick-up. In the position that the bulls are in this is not a bad trade at all. Bye Hughes and Noah or Thomas.

by PricanStar on Nov 21, 2008 1:51 PM CST reply actions

Looking at it again

Curry’s #s in 2007 were 19.5 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 57.6 PCT-FG. Compare that to what we have now at Center position. To offset the defense you have either Thomas or Noah at PF depending on which one gets traded to NY. With Derrick Rose running the point Curry’s #s can possibly be better than in 2007.
