5 Ast-5 FG
Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."
So far so good.
General manager needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.
Sir Paxdorf.
yeah
I really expected us to be destroyed early on
Gordon on Radmanovich
that was scary.

That's what I'm saying...
Radmanovich looks huge out there. There was a court angle on one of the links earlier and it was like driving against a wall. You don’t get that view from the 300 level. It’s nuts.

Wtf is Gordon doing?
The guy takes some of the dumbest shots. Hopefully we let him go and draft Stephen Curry to take his place.
Steph Curry
Is legit. One of the better shooter i’ve seen. He is also a damn good defensive player unlike BG. Less $$ also..
Obviously
You’ve never seen Curry play before. He’s on ESPN2 right now…take a look.

Gordon is not worth the $
And Curry isn’t much of a drop off. We can sign Wade in 2010 and have Curry be the sharp shooter of the bench
Couldn't disagree more
He took ONE really bad shot, otherwise he was getting great looks. I’ll take those other shots every possession.

He dribbled all the way down the court on a break rather than pass to the point guard, IIRC
Then took a shot for himself. It was, IMO, a bad decision; he got himself an open 12-foot shot on the move, but I’d rather have seen what D-Rose would have gotten out of the possession.

That was an awful shot by BG
But I still like the half he’s having. Aggressive to the hoop, getting mostly good looks. The shots will fall.

by Juiceboxjerry on Nov 18, 2008 11:00 PM CST up reply actions
I'm interested in seeing what the forecasting models have to say about him
Players with limited skill sets (i.e. lack of diversity, identified through statistical manipulation) typically have no chance in the NBA, such as J.J. Redick, who the forecasting models successfully compared to Trajan Langdon, Shawn Respert, et al, and realized he’d be a bust.
I’m not saying that Curry will be a bust, just saying a college player needs to do a LOT more than shoot and score to translate his game to the NBA. Even guys like Paxson and Kerr who were one-dimensional players in the NBA, I guarantee if you look up their college stats you’ll be surprised at the depth of their games.

Gary Payton and Chris Webber just did the UNTHINKABLE!!!
They pretty much called Luol Deng garbage. Payton said he doesn’t expect Deng to show up THIS YEAR and Webber said the key to the game is consistency…and that Deng has been getting consistently worse.
Payton said that Deng has gotta bring it now that the Bulls have paid him all this money. He said that as players get to know your game, you gotta bring something different to the table and Deng hasn’t done that.
It all sounds pretty spot on to me.
by lexdiamonds0730 on Nov 18, 2008 10:54 PM CST reply actions

But when his production is so lukewarm there’s no defending him. The 2nd half is his to work with.

Deng only took a dive last season. He needs to hit the open jumpers Derrick is giving him though.
by Playboy_Bull on Nov 18, 2008 10:56 PM CST up reply actions
Despite not having a ring, Webber was....
…immeasurably a better player than Deng. Webber was a legitimate top line player in the NBA for several years. Can’t fault him for not being able to beat Mike & Scottie, Stockton and Malone, Payton and Kemp, Barkley and the Phoenix Suns, Olajuwon and the Rockets and then later not being able to beat Shaq and Kobe. A LOT of folks have lost to these guys.

to be fair gooden started the game on fire
Ben’s been cold but he’s not hogging the ball like at the beginning of the season. Tyrus has had two highlight plays. It’s a rough match up down low because we have no one who can man up on either Bynum or Gasol. And they have that guy Kobe. But Derrick Rose has led this team back into the game.

It is simply amazing when you contrast athletic ability...
…between a guy like Derrick Rose and a guy like Luol Deng. Rose has that same explosive ability that guys like LeBron and D-Wade have. He comes at you like a bullet and explodes. Deng seems so unathletic. He obviously has a decent degree of athleticism, but when you put him next to Rose or any number of other wing players he looks so….average. I think that’s what ultimately frustrates me about Deng. I just have to come to grips with him not being so athletic. But I do want him to improve other facets of his game in order to make up for it though.
