Actually Gooden is covering Rasho

2 games in a row that VDN has Gooden guarding the center position and Noah on the power forward. Stupid move, he must have learned this in Phoenix were they had not center and played a small forward at power forward. Not really impressed with VDN’s matchup awareness.

your all offense

Ya, he’s an old 29, and over 10 years in the league averaged only 15 pts a game and 31 minutes per game and will hit 10,000 pts, but take those 15 pts and look at the Defense, the steals and turnovers he causes and you got a player that actually gives you 18-20 pts a game over 10 years. Best Defender, Gordon can’t play D, most fans just watch shots, nature of the sport, but only less than 5% of 300 NBA players make it past 5 years. So his career 41% over 10 years out of position (good enough to play point gaurd and feed Lebron is so bad to whom? Who has better Defense numbers on the Bulls, Deng? Gooden? Nearly 6 rebounds a game over 10 years? The man he guards does not score, or he has a foul to give to make sure he doesn’t without hurting the team. We have no center, the forwards are poor on defense, Gordon has no defense, Rose has 10 games versus 10 years, just think you need to look at both ends of the court. Yes, he is hurt, but still playing, lets see how many years Rose gets, remember, 95% chance of not surpassing 5 years. It doesn’t look pretty, I admit, but when you add it up, you got somebody on the team you better use, for you have him for two years. More picks and rolls in two games than Gordon in 10. No superstar, but has achieved some rare things that 95% of NBA players don’t and you can’t take that away. Point guard in the finals for Cleveland ain’t bad when your not even a true point guard. I think we did better than Wallace.

I don't think we'd be seeing Ben Gordon playing this good if he already had his money

He’d be playing stupid, ballhog, stat builder basketball still. I suspect he might return to normal after he gets paid$$$$
He’s actually going to the rim with a strategy nowadays, instead of driving with no idea what to do if things get difficult and getting violently rejected.
He’s playing D and everything. He suddenly can do it all, where was any of this the last few seasons. Unless he finally realized the difference between his role as a 6th man spark, and his new role(at least for now) as starting SG with an actual brain. I knew he could do it, now the question will be how long it lasts. I’m hoping for the rest of his time in Chicago!

Even with Hinrich out

we have at least 2 too many players. I vote for Hughes and Gooden to depart as neither are in the Bulls long term plans, so they are just wasting time that could go to developing/finding out other guys ability to play with Rose. VDN more worried about winning a few extra games and his job than long term development of the team.

The meltdown started when Ben Wallace would clown around and have a great time

while the Bulls would be getting slaughtered by 30 pts. He was a cancer to the Bulls, and I suspect he completely undermined Skiles and killed any respect Skiles still commanded as head coach. Even Deng suddenly took on the “who cares if we get killed AGAIN” attitude toward the end of BWallace"s tenure. I was happy when Noah called him out on it though. Now I fully understand how bad it was if a lazy guy like Noah called him out, lol. Just kidding

Some prettiness mixed with some ugliness

Motto of the Bulls season?

Deng looks like an All-Star when he just attacks the rim. Also playing some great D on Granger. BG has been the benefactor of some great ball movement and transition game. They went back to the jacking crap routine and Indy got themselves back in the game.

The frontcourt has got to play better. Aside from Noah’s energy and those two sweet lobs from Rose, Gooden and Tyrus have been pretty moot. Tyrus had a very easy close shot that he mangled, that’s got to change or he’ll never get decent playing time. I’m glad they’re not running any set plays for him because it would just be bad to look at, but he’s not making any effort on offense to get himself into a rhythm with Rose and the other starters. At least make like Noah and get some garbage buckets by staying in the paint. Noce is filling in amicably but he gives up tons of size to Murphy (who is exploiting it….by taking 3s and long jumpers).

Oh, and Larry Hughes is still worthless. Why not play Lindsey Hunter with Thabo

Only 2 turnovers so far

Both of them on Noce essentially being his Argentian ball of fire self, so not that big of a deal. Notice there was no BG dribbling off his foot? Except for that horrible end of quarter play and BG throwing up a shot while triple teamed, he’s been on his best behavior.

Is it just me,

or are the Bulls finally starting to get their fair share of calls by the refs? I suspect having a (future) superstar, Rose, is for some reason giving the Bulls some credibility with the crooked(aren’t they all?) refs, The referee bias in the NBA is disgusting! Maybe the Bulls were getting payback for all the years MJ got all the calls (and no-calls).

I was a huge pro-Rose guy around draft-time, but I didn’t think he would be this good, this fast. T.J. Ford is one of the better points in the east and Rose completely outclassed him. Amazing.

Quick note on CP3

I want to say that I read (in a few places) on this thread that D-Rose is better now than CP3 was at the same age. Negative.

D-Rose, in his age-20 season, has a PER of 19 after 10 games. CP3, in his age-20 season (‘05-’06), had a PER of 22.14 in 78 games.

I’m as excited as ANYONE over what D-Rose has done thusfar, but let’s not reach too far into hyperbole territory or start deluding ourselves here. I love D-Rose, but it’s way too premature to try to put him in CP3’s class.

I don't think it's premature

to say his play, if it continues to improve as it has, could be on a level with what Paul did as a rookie. Rose will probably average more points and rebounds; Paul will have had more assists and steals.

The thing that’s so remarkable about Paul is how he has improved over the course of his career. It’s premature to say Rose will do that. But it’s not all that farfetched to say that their rookie seasons might be on the same level.

OK, I don't disagree with that ... but that's not what I was responding to

It’s the comments that CP3 “wasn’t this good” at the same age that I was hoping to dispel.

Your point is taken, however it moves the narrative away from the point I was trying to make.

I don't agree,

CP3 wasn’t this good, this early.
I honestly think Rose will be better. He’ll age better [unless Paul does the Iverson thing], and he’s … just … man. I don’t even know how to express it.

Let's take it easy shall we?

Rose has played 10 games. Chris Paul had one of the greatest statistical seasons for any PG ever last year. Paul also had a worse team his rookie year. I’m in love with Rose, but there’s no need to go insane.

We should start a FanPost or something

Where each of us compile a list of players we’d trade D-Rose for. Those lists would be very, very short.

Mine would have more than one name, however – not only CP3 – but would certainly be short.

NO

NO. This is a 20 year old kid playing with the poise of a 10 year veteran. It isn’t just about the stats here. He has already faced some of the best pg’s in the league and has not been phased. The only times he gets remotely upset is when his teammates aren’t trying as hard as he thinks they should. He is a born leader. In a couple years, maybe just maybe, superstars will want to be here just to play alongside him to boost their game and win a championship.

One thing that's kind of jumped out at me is that,

as awesome as Rose is, and as good as Gordon, Deng and Nocioni can be alongside him, this team could very easily and cost-effectively improve itself down low. You wouldn’t need to spend a lot to improve quite a bit. Unrestricted free agents like Paul Millsap and Pachulia would at least bring professionalism and NBA skillsets to the the interior.

It sounds like a downer, but really, it just means we could improve as a team very quickly.

Now I am COMPLETELY comfortable with this type of talk!!!

I was SO uncomfortable when a lot of people in this forum were seemingly so satisfied at the thought of Deng being the future of Chicago Bulls basketball. The guy the franchise would build around. I am THRILLED to death that now he is for all intent and purposes the 3rd option on this team and that we now have a BONAFIDE SUPERSTAR in the making. I can view Deng favorably in the type of support role he seems to be settling into. Still think he’s overpaid, but what’s done is done. I just hope we can make a move and get a serviceable big…and somehow keep BG in a Bulls uniform….and let D. Rose do the rest!!!

I love D Rose too, but what talented player were your referring to when you said he was the best since 1998?

As much as I detest Larry Hughes’s game, for the 2nd time in a row, he finished strong after a disasterous start, actually giving up the ball within the flow of the offense on occassion, although his assist totals for his 36+ minutes in those games remained a big fat ZERO,

Noce is thriving playing alongside Derrick, 20 pts on 9 for 13, playing smart, spotting up with good spacing, driving to the hole and grabbing 11 rebounds while doing a nice job defensively with a (+/-) of 16, 2nd only to DR’s +20. For the most part this season, he has continued to disappoint the Noce haters with his solid play.

There are no words that can do justice to the brilliance of our flower child so far, other than it seems his teamates are beginning to recognize him as the second coming and are willing to ride him to victory.

Deng played a strong game despite going 4 for 16, as did Gordon who was 6 for 19. I love Tyrus but his shooting is bringing me fantasies of having more of an offensive threat at the 4, like Ben Wallace.

blah

Noc was garbage on defense tonight when guarding his own man. His weak side help defense was good. He also had 5 turnovers.

I still think he’s the best complement to pair with Rose after Ben Gordon merely for the spacing and especially when we have the lead and Rose is looking to create. When we have the lead we can run the high screen with Noah, roll Noc all the way from freethrow line right to baseline to free throw line left as he runs out to the top of the circle while Rose penetrates and either takes the shot in the paint, drops to Noah for the flush, or kicks back to Noc for the wide open 3. This is difficult play to defend and Rose makes it all work.

9 turnovers

5 for Noc. lol

Rose plays 40 minutes with no fouls. Wow. I loved his defense in transition last night. He broke up 3 breakaway layups with three good defensive plays. One he just jumped up off one foot and did a spread eagle that really threw off TJ Ford. Another he faked like he was going up and then pulled the chair out from under TJ Ford who was expecting contact. And the the first one he just tipped the ball going up.

Rose is just amazing. Once he gets comfortable with his opponents we’re probably going to see him taking that high screen right to the rim for some nasty dunks.

Speaking of Noce

I really have to agree with everyone by saying he is the player most positively affected by Rose’s play.

The man knows how to pick his spots for Derrick to use him well.

As for his defense, Derrick has nothing to do with that. LOL

I was trying to remember the 5

1 was the charge in the 2nd half. I know he had some bad passes. And then he did have a ball stolen in the paint.

The charge was the worst because we had numbers and all Noc had to do was give the ball to Rose and he’d get it right back for a n easy layup.
