A trade that we need to make. (Bulls/Nuggets)

First off I know you guys are going to dismember this trade proposal with a scaple and not a hatchet, but this is what I think Pax should do if he expects for us to compete.

The Bulls should send the following players to the Nuggets:

SF - LOUL DENG - 23 Y.O - $9,385,000.

PG - KIRK HINRICH - 27 Y.O - $10,000,000.

F/C - JOAKIM NOAH - 23 Y.O - $2,295,480.

PF- CEDRICK SIMMONS - 22 Y.O - $1,742, 760.

TOTAL SALARIES - $23,422,760.

Plus a sweetner (Omer Asik, a 1st or a 2nd rounder).

For the following Nugget players will be sent to the Bulls:

SF - CARMELO ANTHONY - 24 Y.O - $14,410,581.

F/C - NENE HILARIO - 26 Y.O - $9,680,000.

PG - ANTHONY CARTER - 33 Y.O - $797,581.

TOTAL SALARIES - $24,888,162.

REASON FOR THE TRADE:

MELO: We need to build this team around Rose and to do that you need to pair him with a prolific scorer and and low post threat. Melo can answer both those needs. The reason why I traded Deng is because we have to be realistic, Denver is not given up Melo for anything less that Rose or Deng, plus they play the same position.

Melo would be a better fit for our team because he can post-up, create his own shot, rebound and run the floor and finsish which pairs well with Rose. Plus you can add to the fact that Melo can hit the three. The Nuggets might blow-up their team by the all-star break and Melo might be intriged about being paired with the NEXT POINT GOD of the NBA.

NENE: Yeah, yeah I know he has been injuried in the past, but it was for cancer and and finger. Hey floks, those aren't Greg Oden issues just bad luck. Nene is alot better than any big we have now and plus he has the weight to bang with true centers and the agility to run and finish with Rose. Additionally, he can be used later in a bigger and better deal.

Sorry Sue, but Hinrich must go. The Nuggets need a PG and we need a Center. If Nene returns to form he can score in the post and is an o.k rebounder. His size will allow Thomas to roam on D and block shots on defense. On offense he will allow Tyrus to face and shoot the J or take his man off the dribble.

CARTER: He is obviously a throw in for contract and roster purposses. Once we trade Hinrich we will need a veteran back-up PG and he fills that role. I gave Denver Noah to replace Nene and to sweeten the deal. Remember we are trading for Anthony here not Huhges and Gooden.

I threw Simmons in the trade just for his contract. and Asik was thrown in for the hell of it to further intice Denver to part with Anthony. Our roster will look like this if this trade is made.

CHICAGO BULLS ROTATION:

PG - ROSE / GORDON / CARTER

SG - GORDON / HUGHES / SEFOLOSHA

SF - ANTHONY / NOCIONI / SEFOLOSHA

PF - THOMAS / GOODEN / NOCIONI

C - HILARIO / GOODEN / GRAY

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DENVER NUGGETS ROTATION:

PG - HINRICH / ATKINS / IVERSON

SG - IVERSON/ SMITH / HINRICH

SF - DENG / BALKMAN

PF - MARTIN / KLEIZA / NOAH

C - NOAH / ANDERSON

Reasons why the Nuggets will make this trade:

DENG - He is one of the best young SF's in the NBA. If they trade Anthony they will need to replace him and Deng is a good player to build a future with.

HINRICH - They need a PG and Hinrich fit that bill, plus he can guard bigger players which allows Iverson to play SG.

NOAH - Young 7 footer who is dripping with potential and possibly a Camby clone?

These 3 along with Smith, Balkman, Martin and Iverson should keep them copetitive and if they choose to rebuild we could throw in a second rounder, and they have some pretty good assets. This trade would help us and help them.

This trade would give us a great 1-2 punch in Rose and Anthony. If we re-sign Gordon he can allow Rose to be the 2nd or 3rd option. Nene is a solid bigman who plays in the paint which will  allowTyrus to face-up and shoot or take his man off the dribble. Plus, we still have Noce, Gooden and Thabo coming off the bench.

I did not trade Gooden because his contract expires after this season and we will need the cap relief this summer to resign Gordon. I also did not trade Hughes because we will need that $14 mill to come off our books after next season. Tell me what you think.

Not bad on paper

But the Nuggets wouldn’t do it. They’ve made it clear that Melo isn’t going anywhere, and this isn’t over-the-top compelling enough for them to make a move.

I’d certainly be happy if it happened….but I’m not holding my breath.

Not yet

but when they start sucking and Melo wants out I doubt that most teams could do better than Deng, Hinrich, Noah and a 1st rounder.

I agree. If they WERE to let Melo go,

they’d want a top-shelf talent. Deng is a top-shelf talent.

He doesn’t have any All-Star games under his belt, but he should make up for that with good-guy character/image.

It’s obvious that the Nuggets would prefer to trade other huge salary cap burdens, such as A. I., but no one’s taking A. I.

Deng is BYC and cannot be traded until some time in January. The only way the Nuggets trade Melo is if their season is a trainwreck and he demands a trade. AI is a free agent after this season, so the Nuggets will need some kind of marquee attraction to maintain their relevance in Denver. I don’t know why everyone thinks the Nuggets are destined to lose this season. Camby was an overrated defender and a healthy Nene probably gives them the same or better post defense plus some offense. Melo is one of my favorite players and I’d love to see him on the Bulls but it’s not happening.

I assumed this is more of an after-the-season deal.

but a couple expirings are involved. I suppose that the Nuggets could give up by the trade deadline.

I like it

Nice trade idea. I think another reason the Nuggets would do it is to get rid of Nene’s contract. And I’d be willing to take on that albatross to get Melo and get rid of Hinrich. Deng is an acceptable loss.

I don't see the Nuggets trading Melo

without forcing the other team to include Kenyon Martin.

probably not now

but if denver gets off to a bad start and melo asks for a trade, this actually seems pretty plausible. i think both teams could potentially get better after that trade.

I rate this trade

An A- for the Bulls and a B+ for the Nuggets if it’s plausible in the numbers….

Very good trade….Wish we had no Hughes though….but the reason for the negative really is Nene, otherwise it’s an A. He could just be a cap killer.

I though do think the Nuggets will do better than the pundits have expected.

PLAYERS WHO WILL NOT BE TRADED FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS if their team has their contract.
Kobe, Lebron, Duncan, Wade, Paul, Williams, Rose, Bosh, Dwight Howard, Garnett, Pierce, Dirk, Yao, MELO, Bynum, Baron Davis, Oden, Al Jefferson, Tony Parker, Beasley

These players wont get traded for anyone unless the combination includes someone on this list. Deng is more in the Rudy Gay /Danny Granger(but the bulls are a better team than Memphis and Indiana) /Igudala/Joe Johnson) class, and Melo has a chance to be a hall of famer, he is the face of the Nuggets, won a gold medal etc… Deng has to play a couple all star caliber years before being mentioned with him. I would love for this trade to happen but If I am the Nuggets I am NOT TRADING MELO for anyone unless they are on that list. It is just like the Kobe to the Bulls trade that didnt go through, Gordon also would have to be included. Melo would be left with D. Rose and nothing else. . If you want to start rebuilding with weaknesses at two positions(SG and C) and a weak bench this is the trade for the Bulls. But the next couple of years would look nice with Rose Melo and Thomas, but this year 30 -35 games would be realistic. I would rather keep Deng and Gordon because they fill two positions and make them strong, Noah is Nice off the bench, and Hinrich should be traded for a good big man.(Hinrich for Nene straight up)

I disagree

Melo is the exception, the team is losing money and not winning as currently constructed. Melo is unhappy there. He’s playing with a bunch of maniacs (Smith and Kmart among them) They would entertain offers if they were strong enough and the team falls far enough. But you would have to overwhelm them.

If the Bulls offered Hinrich, Tyrus, and Noah right now for Oden, would they listen? What if they substituted one of the bigs for Deng? Just curious. I think both sides would probably say no. But still. Funny to think about it with all of these Oden injuries.

I don't care if

Kirk gets traded. I’ll follow him on his new team. I don’t think he’s going anywhere anytime soon though.

Remember

I am basing this trade on the assumption that Melo is going to get pissed-off by the trade deadline and the Nuggets choose to go another way with their team. I doubt they could turn down this package and I may change my mind about this package if Deng can average 20 pts and 7 to 8 rebounds per game.

Unless he continues shooting

like he did tonite against the Celts

the entire team shot under 30% for the game

we have bigger problems than just luol if that becomes a more common occurrence. and we don’t have to deal with the celtics D every night. or hopefully the bad calls.

Not bad;

it depends if the rift between Denver and Melo really opens up. I could see it happening if their situation continues to decline.

The fly in the ointment with those kinds of scenarios is that, if it does happen, there’s going to be a bidding war. Everybody will want Melo, and everyone will be making offers. I can think of a few teams that can offer either better older players (Detroit) or cheaper younger players (Portland).

The sad truth is, if there’s a bidding war, Paxson’s the last guy I want on my side.
