Shooting Guard Solution? (Trade for Iverson)

Trade Machine

I was thinking about unloading Noc and a guard for a shooting guard that could not only shoot but also penetrate the ball. Plus I think AI would be an experienced veteran to have on  the team and someone to complement Rose. This would then give us a rotation of:

Rose/Gordon/Thabo

Iverson/Hughes/Gordon

Deng/Sefolosha

Thomas/Gooden

Gooden/Noah

This also give us $20 million off the books after this year. Just a thought, I'm really bored right now and was thinking about some kind of deal the Bulls could make and this was one of the only ones that made sense. (At least I hope it makes sense). Another thing is Iverson would play a lot of minutes, leaving less for Hughes when he returns.

We need to get rid of guards

not subtract a guy who is willing to come off the bench and add a guard who has to start.

And we don’t need a guard who penetrates, that’s Rose’s gig.

We need a guy who can hit wide open shots.

Oh wait, we already have that in Gordon.

So basically all the Bulls need to gain from a trade is the subtraction of a guard and the addition of a Center.

This does neither.
Therefore not a good trade.

Interesting-

I proposed a variation on this trade during the summer; I’m against it now. The reason is that I want the ball in Rose’s hands as much as possible. It’s pretty much already “his team”, or recognized that it will be in short order. Iverson demands the ball, and frankly, if he were on the team, he’d get it.

I don’t think the Bulls should trade any of the three top guards (BG, Kirk, Rose) until they see how well they can play. There’s a 80s Pistons’ level potential there. We all need to chillax on the trade talk. If we can move Noc or Hughes, cool enough, but otherwise, why disturb what might be the start of a turnaround?

Four straight preseason wins and winning the opener against Skiles. Rose, Kirk, BG all looked good. Let’s see how good they can get.

When we're preaching defense

and talking size in the backcourt, size in the backcourt….why then would we add A.I. (who no longer defends at all) and A.I. too is a ball hawk who will impede Rose’s development and might teach Rose some of his new tricks….A.I. still puts up the stats offensively like he does, but his D is limited to take chances at steals…

Why too would BG rotate to be our 3rd guard…

The only nice thing about this is future cap relief, but again I’d rather see Hughes gone, otherwise we’re giving up Kirk and Noc for cap relief money and 1 year of A.I. who we won’t be able to bring back, and we’re not going anywhere with that lineup.

Oy vey

Let’s also think about trading Thomas, Noah, Nocioni, and Gooden for Shaq while we’re at it.

It worked on the trade machine!!!

this was the first trade i plugged into the trade machine that worked….

His stats are as good as Fields -- that's the sad thing

You crazy.

The LAST person I would want Derrick Rose to look up to is Allen “you talkin about practice?!” Iverson.

Let’s put the trade talks to rest until we’re at least a few games into the year and we have a better picture of what we have.

No

There’s no reason to pair Rose up with a scorer who is past his prime. AI is also traditionally more successful as a PG and needs the ball in his hand. He’s not a great shooter, and unless you want to emulate Denver and just run isos all game long, not a good fit at all.

"I’m gonna rise up, gonna kick a little ass. Gonna kick some ass in the USA. Gonna climb a mountain, gonna sew a flag, gonna fly on an eagle. I’m gonna kick some butt, gonna drive a big truck. I’m gonna rule this world. I’m gonna kick some ass. I’m gonna rise up, gonna kick a little ass. Rock, flag, and eagle!"

The only thing I kinda like about this trade is

A.I’s 20 mill coming off the books next year. However the only person I would trade for on the Nuggets would be Melo and I would be willing to include Deng.
