Bye bye Powell and Ruffin... why did we even bother with bringing Ruffin in? Seems like a waste of time. Everyone knew he couldn't play before we brought him in.

Ruffin will be back

…at least that’s what KC says:

Sources said the Bulls plan to re-sign Ruffin, who has missed the entire preseason with an ankle injury. The move was done to eliminate some guarantees in Ruffin’s contract and make his one-year salary more palatable to the Bulls’ salary cap.

The Bulls are taking a minor risk in letting Ruffin reach waivers because they value his veteran practice habits and rebounding acumen for a limited reserve role. But considering Ruffin hasn’t played all preseason and teams likely won’t be interested, it’s a minor risk the Bulls believed was worth taking.

So, while Ruffin's "cut" temporarily, who's leading player votes?

No surprises there.

The should enter the season with the roster at 13, there is no need to resign Ruffin. Sorry. I know all about veteran presence and whatever, but he is not a very good basketball player.

At 13 players

this makes the trade 1 get back 2 options more palatable.

larry coon to the rescue
A team must have 12 players on its active roster, although they can drop to 11 for up to two weeks at a time. They must suit up at least eight players for every game. Any remaining players must be on its Inactive List, and are ineligible to play in games. A team must have a minimum of one and a maximum of three players on its Inactive List, although they can drop to zero for up to two weeks at a time, and can temporarily have four with league approval in the event of a hardship.

Hmm, interesting

So individual teams have to have 13, but the league pays extra if they don’t average 14 per team.

That makes for some strange bargaining sessions, I bet.

what's nichols still here for?

think i’ve seen him make one shot, ever. (originally a fan, though).

ruffin is no pj brown (obviously!). which is tough, because all our front court guys have some history of needing time out.

slightly surprised elton brown didn’t get a chance.

I believe Nichols' contract is partially (?) guaranteed

I liked Powell when I saw him.

Better than Nichols, at any rate.
Oh well …
