Summer League Commentary: Vegas Baby

I am making this thread for anyone who cants to comment on any of the summer league play outside the bulls games.Just write the game on the first sentence and the date.

I am watching team china v memphis 7/7/07. This guy named wang is hitting outside shots like no other and Yi looks damn good.  The guy has quick feets and made a gorgeous spin move on alexander johnson, who isnt a summer scrub but a good lookin prospect.  He also made a nice outside shot.  I wish he was on the bulls instead of the hobbled Noah who we arent going to see.  I hope they trade him to the bulls. Sune Yue looks very turnover prone.

wang
that would be shipeng wang, the 6 3 guard. I just realized there are like ten wangs on that team and they go by first name supposedly... Anyways this game was yesterday but I just watched it today.

Summer League Chat
Here is a link to all the team's roster.

Scrolling through the rosters here are some things that jumped out at me. I love reading the comments on players .

-Bulls:  Jackson Vroman (involved in Deng trade) is back.  Not much else to be excited of.

-A blogaBull favorite with a great quote:

Saer Sene
C 7-0 1986 Senegal 1 Helped Rick Sund get fired with an underwhelming rookie year.

-Julius Hodge is in Seatle.  I always liked him.

-Clippers - totally forgot about Paul Davis.  Ouch Kaman is playing summer league in his 4th year, and he just got paid.  We have a Mike Gansey sighting.

-Rafael Araujo - I can't believe this guy was taken 8th in 2006.  Wasn't he trade to Jazz for Kris Humphries.  What ever happened to Hump.  He was promising after 1 year at Minnesota; another case of leaving too early.

-Kings: Nik Caner-Medley always liked him.  Doubt he sticks.

All I have to say is
God bless you Yi!

I wish you were in red!

I saw that brilliant performance. Hopefully Pax did too and would consider training for him if the Bucks don't make him change his mind.

Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Yi really impressed me
I wish we would have gotten him.

Saturday's game isn't going so well.
Hawes seems to be having a good one, though.

His dunk on Gay was sweet.
Yi's defense was so-so, but his offensive game looks to be made for the NBA game.

It would have been interesting to see what Paxson would have done if both Noah and Yi were on the board at 9.

I'm just excited to have something to watch!
Even summer league is better than no basketball, and some of these games have been pretty competitive.  Can't wait for the Bulls to get started Monday.

Agree
really been enjoying just watching basketball. Gay's dunk was sick on Yi also. Gay looked really good in his game.

I really enjoyed
watching the summer league last summer. It will be fun to see who plays well.

Bulls' roster
Why in the world didn't they add more plausible non drafted big men to their roster?  Like Coville and Traore. how exactly does the whole process work and does the team the player works for have anything to do with what team he is signed by?

by Sambossanova on Jul 7, 2007 4:15 PM CDT reply actions

the summer roster?
Vroman and Fischer have some size. I don't remember Lance Williams being so beefy (6'9" 274!) when he played for DePaul, but I don't remember seeing him play for DePaul. Big guys like that tend to stand out and get mentioned.

by hscs on Jul 7, 2007 4:27 PM CDT up reply actions

one more question
Is it possible for a palyer to be on more than one roster?!?? That seems to be the case with a couple of players.

by Sambossanova on Jul 7, 2007 4:41 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, they can play with more than one team
if they are only signing a summer spot  - Bulls have Boo Davis and Caleb Green scheduled to play Utah only because they are in Vegas with other teams.

I think it's nice - gives the borderline NBA guys a shot to be seen by more people and maybe catch on with a team.

Where is
Marcus Fizer.  Isn't there teams that are not assocoiated to the NBA.  Anyone have those rosters?

by Jesse07 on Jul 7, 2007 4:49 PM CDT reply actions

Fizer
He just signed a 2-year contract with Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Israel.  He gets $900,000 a year.

Wow Hawes did well
did not watch the game but his stats look good. 19 points 7 rebounds. 9-14 shooting

by SRQman on Jul 7, 2007 11:54 PM CDT reply actions

yep
maybe we picked the wrong guy.  then again its summer league.  It would be nice if noah didnt need major shoulder surgery. It's dissapointing.

by Sambossanova on Jul 8, 2007 10:59 AM CDT up reply actions

We picked the wrong guy
last year. LaMarcus Aldridge has height, a jumpshot, and can score in the post.  His stat line yesterday: 26-11-3.  Ouch.

Of course
when Tyrus Thomas has eleven blocks on John Q. Public from Freemont State I'll be yelling "that's our guy!"

It'll be interesting to see how much Tyrus has improved.  Let's hope he's one of those "workers" Pax likes so much.

There you go
You got it right on the second post. dont get too excited by summer league stats or results.  The quality guys are all working on specific stuff from their teams or just getting some court time to stay fresh over the summer.  Not equal to an NBA game.

I dont get why more people weren't excited about TT's first season.  I saw a ton to get excited about and am glad to have him.

by haze on Jul 8, 2007 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Gotta be nerves
I just watched the NC game against the gators again and he was dominant.  Thats going against a front line full of NBA players.  It took 4 of them to contain him.

by haze on Jul 8, 2007 7:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Containing him
Wasn't even Florida's game-plan; Donovan schemed to allow Oden to run wild, so that his team could almost entirely shut down the remainder of Ohio State's "team."
