Bucks advertising Yi

They seem like they think they are keeping him. Check out the current home page of their website.

Senator Kohl
wrote Yi a letter.  That's going to do it.

As a Wisconson resident, the whole Milwaukee's not good enough for him just kills me.  Milwaukee's got a lot of good things going for it, so what if it doesn't have a huge chinese population.  This way Yi can get to know every one of Chinese Descent in Milwaukee, all 15,000 of them.

Milwaukee is a great city.....
compared to Detroit.
Gordon, Nocioni, Duhon, Khryapa for Gasol is a really bad idea.

Milwaukee is a
nice town. The Hilton downtown is very nice.

Ever been to
Kopps? Those malts will kill you.
Gordon, Nocioni, Duhon, Khryapa for Gasol is my only offer.

No but
if I'm ever there again I will check it out.

Hell Yes
And the burgers are pretty good too!

It's the Custard
Long before Culver's became a Midwestern change, there was Kopps and Gilles' frozen custard in Milwaukee to make people appreciate being dairy.

Ahhhh.

And, Yi, food in Milwaukee is good, very very good.  Milwaukeans (and Wisconsinites) know their food and their beer.

nope
and i've never been to Mil either...but i always hear Tom and Johnny talk about the "Brat Stop"...anyone ever been?

by ScottieCartwright on Jul 5, 2007 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep,
it's absolutely AWFUL (and it's not actually in Milwaukee, it's in Kenosha, IIRC). Someone should sick the health inspector on that place. Yuck.

expectations
what do you expect? The guy has been hanging in LA for months, and his buddy gets to go to LA. Of course Milwaukee is a nice town, but it sure doesn't shine as much as LA, Chicago, or NY. And the bucks are actually a playoff caliber team.

my gut feeling is he's not going to end up in Wisconsin.

What I'd like to know is . . .
Is it Yi that doesn't want to play in Milwaukee, or is it the Chinese government that doesn't want him there?  We'll probably never know, but I wonder if he's the one making the decisions.

David Stern and NBA Owners
Will not be bullied by chinese agent, player or govenment or will they?

by exult463 on Jul 5, 2007 11:27 AM CDT reply actions

My take is that he will be traded.
From what I read he did not look good in the summer-league game against Dallas.  This appears to be a bad pick by Milwaukee.

by chgobr on Jul 5, 2007 11:38 AM CDT up reply actions

Of course they will!
Since they want that money from China to keep rolling in.

by Big D on Jul 5, 2007 3:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Hmm
The site looks like a ploy just to sell some Bucks merchandise

by Chitown23 on Jul 5, 2007 1:54 PM CDT reply actions

This looks like a ploy
to make me still have hope
Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

From what I heard
Yi only needs to sit out one year to become draft eligible again. That's nothing! He plays and trains with the Chinese team, they forge his birth certificate again and say he's 14 and stick him in next year's draft. I would think the threat of this alone would screw Milwaukee's leverage and force them to give him away at half his market price. Maybe if Kohl opens up a new chain of department stores that sell only Chinese sweat shop goods they can work something out.
